AFC South training camp one-liners

Says Titans MLB Stephen Tulloch of new teammate Will Witherspoon, “He’s definitely a good addition to this team. . . . He’s smart, and he likes contact. So he fits this defense well.’'

Titans CB Cortland Finnegan describes the muscle tightness that kept him out of practice as “just a general kind of thing. I don’t know really what you can say about it. I guess you can also throw old age out there.’'

Titans S Michael Griffin delivered a big hit on RB Chris Johnson in practice.

Titans LB Gerald McRath is a big Family Guy fan.

Said Texans rookie TE Garrett Graham of the cheers he got at Saturday’s practice, “Not sure I deserved all that, but it sure was nice. I’m just trying to work my way in and contribute to the team in any way I can.”

Texans CB Brice McCain on being a second-year player: “Everything moves a lot slower for me this year, and I’m having a good time. I think my game improved a lot in the offseason, and I’m hoping that shows on the field.”

Bernard Pollard is welcoming his second chance with the Texans.

Says Texans coach Gary Kubiak, “We’ve got 72 healthy bodies right now. That’s pretty darn good for the practices that we had.”

The Colts played a “mock game” Saturday, and LB Gary Brackett intercepted Peyton Manning’s third pass and returned it 52 yards for a touchdown.

Colts coach Jim Caldwell said rookie S Mike Newton “is one of those guys that has a knack for showing up. He was that way in college.’'

Colts LB Cody Glenn told his best friend and college teammate Ndamukong Suh, “get as much as you can get, because this is the last class that’s probably going to get that kind of money.”

This list does a good job of showing how thankful Colts fans should be for Peyton Manning.

Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio says the competition at safety is “wide open.”

Del Rio also said, “The most dominant player on our football team in the first week has been Marcedes Lewis. He’s been absolutely sensational -- blocking, catching, leading, sending the right message with his actions along with the things he’s saying and standing up for, so really proud of the start of the year he’s had.”

Jaguars WR Nate Hughes hasn’t practiced since hurting his shoulder Tuesday night, and has his right arm in a sling.

Jaguars LB Kirk Morrison says the practices will get more intense when the Jaguars work with the Falcons.
