They are discussing how much Brady should make when he’s 36, 37 or 38, not how much he should make the next two years. That’s what’s complicated. Brady and Kraft are both reasonable men. They will find a compromise that will addresses the fact Brady will be old by the last couple years of this contract, yet pay him superstar money, at least in the early going.

Belichick made approximately 4.7mil a year prior to his 2007 extension. It is now estimated to be between 6 and 8mil a year. Which does put him near the top for coaches, but below many players.

Bill is the hughest paid and hardest working Coach in the league! 7.5 a year for the guy that does everything for the Patriots. Personell, FO and HC. Bill runs the entire show.

I just think its funny he preaches this but we dont know what he’s making (BTW, he’s worth whatever he is making)… ie. Brady, Mankins, everyone #1 to 53 including coaches… Does he practice what he preaches…”we” dont need to know “the boss’ salary” but does he practice what he preaches behind closed doors??? Or is it just part of the sell job?… Don’t think the players’ don’t think the same thing… just like we do with our bosses.

Kraft isn’t stupid. Only the absolute “this team can do no wrong bandwagon” club would ever excuse them if they let Tom Brady get away at this stage of his career. If he has to overpay Brady, it will only make up for all of the years and all of the wealth the team has accumulated because Tom Brady was the quarterback. That nice little mall and those hotels around the stadium weren’t built because there’s been a decent team in Foxboro.

On the Brady thing….where is the “disconnect” that Michael Silver and the Cryptkeeper reported? I thought TFB wanted to go to California.

Another PFT story about Brady’s contract status that says that : 1. There’s apparently no problem between Brady and the team’s owner; 2. He and the team are working toward a new contract; 3. He seems to get along with the whole team, staff and players included; 4. He is participating as much as any other player in the pre-season.
I am sure we will see another story with the same 4 points again in two days…and again next week…and again the week after that.

Three items of which you don’t seem to be aware Florio. First of all Kraft does not take part in contract negotiations, his comments are not posturing as you so often assume. Second, Kraft and Brady are close and have been close for many years, even before Brady was a mega-star. Third, Brady is not a spoiled child like so many athletes, he isn’t going to demand fifty cents more than Manning for example.
