Over the weekend, Colts defensive tackle John Gill was found by police passed out in a ditch. Today, his football season has ended.
Howard Balzer of the St. Louis Globe-Democrat and the Sports Xchange reports that Gill has been placed on the reserve/non-football illness list.
As it turns out, Gill had a similar incident last September.
Team president Bill Polian recently indicated that Gill will spend the rest of the year getting treatment.
The only remaining question is whether the Colts will pay Gill’s $320,000 base salary. Under the rules of the CBA, they’re not required to do so.

If he’s owed anything at all, Gill should get an honest chance to make the team if he takes care of himself over the next year. Other than that, are you kidding me? It’s not on the Colts that he’s got a drinking/drug problem.
It will be interesting to see how the Colts support John Gill – especially since the owner, Jim Irsay, has had his own well publicized fights with addictions.
