Comments on: Brian Westbrook expected to join Rams

I’m a big Eagles fan, and has watched Westbrook play at Villanova and with the Eagles. I can say with confidence that Westbrook would be a great edition to the Rams because as a back-up, he wouldn’t have to carry the team entirely on his back. Keep the carries low and he could be a factor again. He is older and not as durable as he used to be, but is still effective out of the backfield on third down and can even run a little slot receiver if needed. I think he has at least two or three seasons left in the tank. With the youth movement in Philly this season, I understand why we released him, but he’s been a fan favorite for years around here and he will be missed.

I’m glad Westbrook isn’t coming to the Skins he has had concussion and other injury issues for the last couple of years.

Hogster you sound like a whiney redskins fan that Hayes how bad Westy used to destroy you guys. Why would he go to a cluster of subpar RBs. Torain is the best runner so far. Westbrook is going somewhere that’s going to pay him. Spags has a lot of respect for WB and he can lighten Jacksons load. Which is what they want to do. Learn about the game before you open your mouth.

You can claim all you want about the Redskins not being any good. But lordy dude. The Rams are much worse.
So how about some intelligence to your reasoning? As there are a great many reasons to not go to the Redskins. Like the log jam of backs already there. The system being a running system and that Westbrook flourishes as a receiver out of the back field.
So its very much lame to go into a rant on how the Skins suck and use Westbrook as evidence. And believe you have and credibility after using the Rams as a comparison.
Neither place is going to take him to the SB. Even with the Redskins being better then the Rams. But at least he will be the lead back-up for the Rams and at least get to play in his final year(s). In DC he’d be standing on the sidelines watching LJ get the back-up playing time AND still not sniffing a shot at the Super Bowl.
I for one would assume Westbrook is considered done in the league as it appears SF has ZERO interest in him. A team with a strong shot at the playoffs (do in large part to being in a lusy division) and thus a place where he could have a shot at the SB. And also a team that with Coffee walking away has a need at back-up RB.

This is a good move for St Louis, Bradford would now have someone to dump the ball of to on short yardage situations. I dont know how long long he will last, but if it is only a 1 year deal, i think it is a win- win situation. He shows the rest of the league, he can still play and St Louis adds another veteran to the mix.
