Leinart has mediocre effort; Fitzgerald gets knee iced

Matt Leinart dropped back, getting rare good protection on Saturday night.  He locked in on Larry Fitzgerald, stared him down some more, and then led Fitzgerald over the middle for a 16-yard gain.

Fitzgerald went up for the ball and took a big hit to the knee.  As usual, he held on the ball.  Fitzgerald got up gingerly without incident, but was later seen icing his knees on the sideline and did not return.  The injury didn’t look serious.

Leinart left the game after three series in which the Cardinals didn’t score a point.  He finished 6-of-7 for 49 yards and took two sacks.  Right tackle Brandon Keith was tossed aside like a rag doll on a bull rush by Mario Williams.

It was typical Leinart: excusable, but not inspiring.  It was also typical Derek Anderson on the backup quarterback’s first drive.  Anderson was picked off on his fourth throw.

Gregg with 4 g’s. Let me guess if Warner had gone 6/7 49 yards and 2 sacks, then it would have been a mind numbing experience?
The sad thing is that you steal a check writing about football.

    Oh and 4 g’s.
It was Anderson’s 2nd throw.. Get a clue.

See Leinart is same as always and Anderson picked up right where he left off in Cleveland.

As usual, you guys know nothing about football. Leinart looked decent, a far cry from uninspiring. Derek Anderson is just a horrible QB.

Good news and bad news 4-G’s….
Good news: Your the best of the two sports writers on this site….
Bad news: You are the second worse journalist in all of sports. Only Florio is worse than you.
As Tuperello says above – You are both stealing checks. Not sure what photos you and/or Florio have on some NBC exec, or what they are doing in them……but both of you would be better served writing a drama/gossip blog for TMZ

Leinart was decent, only made one tough throw (to fitz), but his protection wasn’t good. Anderson made some bad passes, but one of his interceptions was a tipped pass. Skelton looked great, but it was vs the backups, so who knows.

Matt Leinart is overrated! Cardinal need a QB who can release the ball in a timely fashion. matt Leinart is gonna get killed back there. his own defense sacked him. someone please tell Leinart, this is not college. he should give a game day check to larry for this!

I am tired of these posts and misinformation by Gregg. It seems to me that this guy has never actually played football and doesn’t really know anything about the game. He skews data to try to make people order his information from Rotoworld and writes off players that are actually productive avoid his fantasy advice at all costs. Reality is statistically Leinart missed 1 pass what does that make his passer rating? Staring down Fitz? He threw one pass to Fitz which was caught for a first down and he even caught him in stride. I doubt even Peyton could throw well behind that offensive line tonight no way is that Leinart’s fault. His right tackle Keith was downright awful don’t blame the QB for that. Gregg- line play is what determines if your skill position players get the job done nothing else. It isn’t rocket science it’s football but how would you know that if you hadn’t ever played the game? Too bad Steve Alexander doesn’t cover the NFL he is a much better analyst and writer than Gregg will ever be.

    @ Steelers SUCK,
Why do you think the Browns released him, you TURD???
By the way the browns won their game 27-24 against a tough Packer team and both Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace looked good for the Browns.
I do agree with you in that Skelton is going to be the Cardinal franchise QB. He was awesome!
On and one last thing…..THE STEELERS SUCK!!!
