Short night for Vikings starters

Currently on the NFL.com Preseason Live package, we’re waiting to see A.J. Feeley make his exit and Sam Bradford make his entrance at quarterback for the Rams.

Meanwhile, if we would have blinked, we would have missed Vikings “starter” Tarvaris Jackson.

The Minnesota starting offense was on the field for one drive, with Jackson completing two of four passes for 11 yards.

Per Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, Sage Rosenfels is expected to play quarterback through the third quarter, which seems to suggest that Rosenfels is available in trade — and that the Vikings still expect Brett Favre to show up before Week 1.

The Vikings’ starting defense also left after one drive, meaning that Bradford won’t have to risk getting tied, stuck, and cooked on a spit by Jared Allen.

  1. Bradford looked good, although he had only one series against the first string D of the Vikings

    “How did favre do tonight?”

  3. I think next week we need to see T-Jack for a couple of quarters. Sage did pretty dam good with tne 2nd team.
Joe Webb did okay for the 3rd teamers.
I would cut T-Jack in a heartbeat. I really dont understand why they “love” him so much. He sucks
    Brett Favre
    Sage
    Joe Webb

No he didn’t, starters did not face Bradford.
Back ups recorded 4 sacks w/ 1 fumble out of bounds

  5. That Joe Webb looked alright, pretty soon, the Viking fans will be asking the question, “BrINT who?”

  6. Watching the game I really realized how whack this website is. All the analysts could talk about was how well run this organization is. How the coaching staff manages the players so well and how great the vibe is at a Childress camp. They mentioned how training camp attendance was up 20% this season. They talked about how great the depth was on the Vikings roster compared to most teams.
Then you come here and every article is some doom and gloom slant on the latest non-story. This article likes to think that any Vikings player that says or does anything for any reason is rebelling against the management or slipping out of the team’s control or whatever.
Contrary to popular belief Childress does have these guys playing football and playing it well.

  7. Do consider this…
For the NFL pre-season broadcasts, the Vikings choose the announcers (and the station). It is, essentially, Vikings PR the whole time. Those games are very lucrative for the stations that broadcast them and they don’t want to irritate team officials.
I wouldn’t treat what they say as gospel, either.

As a Packer fan, I can’t disagree with this opinion. When I saw Tavaris play at Lambeau a few seasons back, I thought he looked very promising…and at that time he didn’t have the weapons that Favre had last year and the oveall team wasn’t as good as it is now. I know he didn’t play much last night because the No. 1’s weren’t the focus, but if the Vikings want consistency, they should stay the course with him. If they want another desperate throw of the dice…wait for Favre. The end result won’t be the same with Favre this time around, because they won’t get nearly as close as they did last year with him. No way.

  9. Keep telling yourself that mrsteve…whatever makes you feel better. I’ll be looking for you late on September 9th after the Saints destroy the Viqueens and the hopes of their whiny-ass fans! LMAO!!

  10. ambrose we’re all very impressed by your sly campaign to trick the vikings into not letting favre play this season in your desperate bid to give the packers a better chance to finally beat the vikes and win the division again but this is just a message board and i really don’t think your little plot is gonna work. you’re just gonna have to come to terms with the packers being humiliated by favre and the vikings for another year and fighting for 2nd place again.

Yeah, give it up Ambrose, the Vikings aren’t going to fall for your trickery! Nice try, though.

  13. Mrs Teve, get out of your mom’s bed, I mean basement, and realize that only idiots from Minnesota think like you. You are the epitome of losers. You can’t win so you piss and moan like a whiny little girl and then get upset when someone calls you out on it. If you don’t want to be called a bitch then don’t act like one. THE REFS CHEATED, THE LEAGUE WANTED THE SAINTS TO WIN……., blah blah blah. I’ve forgotten more about football than you’ll ever know. YOU ARE AN KNOW NOTHING IDIOT!

At least Viking fans are consistent. They have always been delusional and full of themselves. Nothing has changed and the anonymity of the internet only makes them believe their own crap even more. I laugh my ass off whenever I read (again…and again…and again,) about the great season the Vikings had last year. Yeah, the great season consisting of the two victories over the Packers. That’s it. Even though those games were the SuperBowl wins you’ve never had, we will let you believe it feels the same. But one thing remains undeniable…the satisfaction all Packer fans have from predicting exactly how and when Favre would fail you. Raising your expectations that high (see above) just to have them dashed in the manner that they were…man, it was sweet. The delight I felt was worth the two losses, considering they got your team nowhere anyway.

  15. Mikemcsaint is write mrsteve…fumble the ball five times (because the saints were the number one ball hoggers in the leauge and because the dome was loud as SH*T) and throw I think, 2 picks was it, and you’ll never win a championship. Enjoy watching the super bowl banner dropped right in front of you in a few weeks. You guys have made it to the super bowl 5 times and you dooshes haven’t won a single one…please, go back to your igloo and whine some more you freaking loon!
