The NFL has decided to give the Saints a second championship parade as part of the league’s opening night festivities on September 9, just hours before the team starts to defend its first Super Bowl title.
While Florio and I do whatever you do in a press box two hours before kickoff, a Mardi Gras-lite parade will roll through the French Quarter for local and television consumption, helping to ensure that absolutely no work gets done in the city of New Orleans.
Some floats will represent each of the opening week NFL games, along with inevitable sponsor shout outs, musicians, and local chefs.
The NFL would appreciate if all women in the television audience kept their shirts on.
Rosenthal gets to be up in the press box? Aren’t seats like those reserved for journalists, or at the very least, writers (here’s my tribute to Rosenthal’s grad degree at the Florio School of Journalism) than can, well, write?
Sorry for the lack of errorsut at least I used the word “well” as an interrogative (which it should not be).
I for one will be doing my best to get my wife to ignore the wishes of the NFL.
Great, so traffic in New Orleans will be even worse than it usually is on gamedays. Just wonderful.
They’ll be paraded through the streets of major cities in 0range jumpsuits and leg irons. Passerbys will be able to jeer them and throw rotten fruit.
@Robert Ethan
I’m disappointed. This is not up to your standards of nastiness. Have some coffee, come back, and try again.
Apparently the NFL wanted the Viqueens to know what it felt like to have a championship parade.
While New orleans throws parties at the drop of a hat, this parade was the NFLs idea. They know that the rest of the USA expects a party, so the NFL/NBC wants to make sure they see it. And sorry to disappoint, but boobies are only shown on about a 5 block stretch of Bourbon Street, but this is all that the public sees at Mardi Gras. Oh, and the girls showing their boobies, are girls from your town! i.e. tourists.
OMG. Isnt enough the NFL gave them the Superbowl? What is it now? The oil spill? Do we have to go through another year of the NFL holding the Saints hand.
I love it Biggie…surely a secondary parade will breakout in the dome when the championship banner is lowered as the Viqueens and their whiny ass fans watch yet another symbol of a blown chance at a title!! Classic man…Saints will destroy the Viqueens and the hopes of their pathetic fan base!
Parades are fun, parades in New Orleans are part of life down there it would seem. Good for them. This Pats fan says enjoy the year as SB champs, you deserve it.
( PS ) Have the NY RATS won anything yet? No, unless shooting off at the mouth counts. So they are now the official circus of the NFL replacing Oakland, Cinn. and of course the ring master himself Brit Far.
Jonnyb…you are a classic, grade A retard aren’t you? Gotta be a viqueen goon!
SSgtLMJ, at least we never had to wear bags over our heads. I respect the Saints, they’re the champs, but just remember, your sub .500 franchise will get your fan base back to the bags soon enough, just like Tampa Bay fan.
I see there are more Packer fans obsessing over my team and their opening game against Da Aints. Hey Packer fans. When are you going to get a team over there in GB that is good enough to keep your attention? I’d ignore them too if I were you. Its hard watching failure on a daily basis, isn’t it?

Just because Slipknot hasn’t been relevant for years doesn’t mean you can insult them.
So basically this is more of an NFL parade than a Saints parade.
Really buhbay1c, you really believe that? You really believe that after 4 years of Sean Payton and Drew Brees making it to the NFC championship game twice and a superbowl they’ll falter now? Please dude, the Saints have accomplished more in the past 4 years than the Viqueens have in 20 or more…tell me I’m wrong and I’ll ask where exactly your championship is…LMAO!
Are they going to have a Katrina Float with a barrel of 30W Pennzoil?
And in a related story the NFL was going to throw a party for the Vikings but Target couldn’t give away enough free tickets and Childress couldn’t get Favre to drive his tractor up to Minneapolis to pull the first float. Also, Childress kept thinking they wanted to start the parade for 12 instead of 11. All the while the 2 dozen whiny bitch Viking fans couldn’t pull themselves away from their basements where they’ve spent the last 7 months drowning in their tears.
JonnyB – Good call! You said it perfectly!
SSgtLMJ – The ‘Aints should have been sold off to LA or Texas years ago when the owner tried to get rid of them then. So now the NFL is apologizing for trying to sell them away from NoLa.
Everyone pity the Saints some more….
Of course they threw them a parade after throwing the NFC Championship.
SSgtLMJ, playing the championship card is really your only move. The Saints were an embarrassment and perennial doormats for a good part of those 20 years. A Super Bowl title will never change that. Just like 2 World Series wins couldn’t ease the pain for me when the Twins sucked as throughout the 90s. Just remember that, I know it’s your first big win in the dirtiest city in America, but with Benson as an owner they’ll be back to their loser ways soon enough.
Is this like an affirmative action thing because the NFL feels guilty that the Saints have been so historically horrible until last year?
Bring em on! Fewer fumbles and better officiating = a blowout by the vikings. Statistically that is what happened in last years championship game. Look for different results in the Sept.9th game! GO VIKES!

What is the point of winning a bunch of games if you never win a Super Bowl? Isn’t that what you’re playing for in the end? Obviously a Super Bowl win doesn’t erase the past, but I think it feels much better than a high winning percentage and 0 Super Bowl wins would feel.
Why not? It’s not like the NFL doesn’t owe them anything after fixing the NFCC game so they could get into the SB.
/sarcasm
To the saints fans -next hurricane please stay home all of you-just the fans-not the real people of that town just the saints fans-that may be all of you.You dont have anything else worth a damn-
You got me buhbay1c…a superbowl won’t erase the years of dismal play, you’re right. What a dumb comment…of course it doesn’t you retard but it sure does give us one more championship than your organization doesn’t it. Remember, no one cares how close you came…they only immortalize the ones who win the big one. You wouldn’t know anything about that though and we all know it. As far as the city goes, not sure what bashing NOLA does for you other than maybe qwells the bitterness but one thing’s for sure…New Orleans has more history and significance than Minneapolis ever will. How many people think to themselves…”hmmm where will I go on my vacation this year…yeah Minneapolis that’s where”. I don’t think that really happens that often…you’re clearly not very smart.
Percy420…you’re a grade A retard just like buybay1c aren’t you? Go smoke some more dope and and day dream of a championship…nahh, that’s just silly. Just smoke dope, forget the rest.
Ahhh…Vikings fans will never know the feeling of waking up the morning after your team wins the Super Bowl.
SSgtLMJ says, “What a dumb comment…of course it doesn’t you retard but it sure does give us one more championship than your organization doesn’t it.”
With grammar like that it’s funny that you’re calling me the retard. Next time you post I want you to sit back, take a deep breath, and think about what you’re going to angrily type out on your computer with your index fingers. Let me ask you SSgt, what branch do you serve in, your abbreviation is either marines or air force, no? I ask because you seem dumb enough to be a marine, and yet soft enough to be in the air force.
Yeah you right Kay Bee…we do though!

I had to laugh when I saw footage of looters in NOLA.
No electricity, but they are stealing TVS and other appliances…….
One woman had about 4o differnt pairs of shoes all different sizes.
Don’t steal food or anything useful.
NOLA..nothing but class, class , class.
Kay Bee says: Ahhh…Vikings fans will never know the feeling of waking up the morning after your team wins the Super Bowl.
Maybe not. We’ll for sure never know what it feels like to wake up in a different place after a hurricane ravages and floods our state. Of course we’d never be stupid enough to live in a city built below sea level either.
To all the Saints fans:
you guys really know how to throw a party down there in New Orleans and this Steelers fan says to enjoy your year as SB champs, you deserve it.
Boo, hoo, hoo to the haters!

When your football team isn’t good enough to win a Super Bowl, resort to trying to smack talk by bringing up a natural disaster. New Orleans is and will always be better than Minneapolis. Sorry…nobody vacations in that podunk city.
Yep…call NOLA classless and then turn around and post this garbage…hypocrite!
P.S. Vikings will NEVER win the Super Bowl.

Well I’ve been living in Connecticut since 2000, so I already woke up in a different place.
So Katrina ravaged and flooded the entire state of Louisiana? You’re smart.
FYI: Most of New Orleans is at or above sea level.
Nope…but you’re stupid enough to live in a culture-less podunk city like Minneapolis.
That’s what they’ve got Kay Bee…they’ve got ruthless comments to make about the worst natural disaster in the history of the nation to supress the bitterness left by their doomed football team. Their the same characters who blame the refs for the inadequacies of their lousy ass team. Then, oh yes, then they want to talk about class…please fools, you’re so clearly not in our league!
Kay Bee don’t run your mouth on these boards if you’re going to complain about the method in which people give it back to you. I can say whatever I want about New Orleans, I lived there in 2005 and it’s one of the filthiest cities in America. I doubt you’ve ever been to Minneapolis, and only in the south would people still be using the word “podunk”. Keep those fantastic education systems rockin’ down there “Bay Bee”.

Struck a nerve huh? Vikings suck and will never win a Super Bowl…and their fans have a hard time accepting it…so they search for something else to talk about.
BTW…I have been to Minneapolis. It’s like Milwaukee, but worse.
Ruthless comments they say. HA! Go to a Packer/Viking thread and you’ll see “ruthless” posts. You see teams with winning traditions have these things called rivalries, regardless of titles. Who is the Saints’ rival, seriously, can anyone name them? Until recently LSU had the best football teams in the state.
Falcons are the Saints rivals. But…did you really say the Vikings have a “winning tradition?”
Bwahahahahahaha…yeah, going 0-4 in Super Bowls is a winning tradition.
Uhh we hate the Viqueens, that’s one rivalry for starters. The Atlanta Falcons are another, as are the 49ers…you sound like a nerd buhbaybee. Are you?
Kay Bee I want you to listen closely….do you hear it, do you hear the laughter? That’s everyone on PFT laughing about your Saints-Falcons rivalry post. God you are the greatest thing to ever happen to this site. And prior to last year, any Aints fan would’ve given their last tooth to have made the Super Bowl four times.
And SSgt you never answered my question about your branch service. Now I’m leaning strongly towards marines, I mean did you seriously just ask me if I was a nerd? Are you in the 3rd grade? Possibly, a 4th grade education up north gets you a high school diploma in the bayou. But no I’m not a nerd, I’m just the sharpest and most intelligent contributor to this site’s comment board.
BTW…I hate the Falcons, but even that team has played in a Super Bowl more recently than the Vikings…you do remember that NFC Championship game right?
Look on the bright side buhbay1c…the Saints saved the Vikings from being the first team to go 0-5 in the Super Bowl.
Kay Bee, if you read my earlier material you’ll notice I mentioned the Saints are champs and I respect that. What I don’t respect are people who run their mouth with the same garbage post after post. We’re all aware of the Vikings failures, I’ve lived through a lot of them. So you can drop the Super Bowl loss smack any post now, you’re probably better off not posting again, you’re completely outmatched.

Obsession is a disease. What’s going on in Vikings land besides Favre not being there, Harvin with his “migraine issues”, Rice with his many injuries, Peterson pissed about his contract and Childress with absolutely no leadership skills?
You’re right about old number 4 though, he took a raping from the Saints D. I don’t think the Superdome has seen a rape like that since it was crawling with hurricane refugees back in ’05.
Damn people !!!!!! Viking fans……go to your corner !!! Saints fa……Be proud of our team and don’t feed the trolls. They will never get over it and I feel good about that. My Saints have damaged them so bad that they lose sleep, can’t eat, beat the wife, kick the dog, cuss the boss, and generally have a shitty out look on life. And we did that to them…………….be proud !!!!
Now they are pissed because they have a QB that loves to keep them in suspense till the last minute and when he say’s he’s through…….My Saints will get the credit. Aint that just wonderful ? Last year he did the same thing and it was not my Saints fault, so they have to have someone to blame. My Saints have never reaked so much havoc in all the years I have been a fan and “I love it”. Bring it on Viking fan…………..I feed on your fustrations. Vikings are portrayed very well in the Capitol One commercials and I love that commercial. They are so behind in the world but we all know that the Twin Cities is full of them. I think it is great !!!! Just dont feed them…………Let them die in misery.
August 9 will tell the tale and it might not be pretty for them. They will then run like the rats that habitate their city and all this other crap will go away. Luv my Saints……………………………

Hey asswipe, Louisiana puts more people in the NFL per capita than any other state.
Can you say Marshall Faulk?
I would go with Pistol Pete as being the most celebrated.
Speaking of being raped…how many times has Minneapolis been raped of their franchises by other cities?
Oh and your most celebrated athlete, Kirby Puckett, was a rapist…wasn’t he?
Free time is a disease Kay Bee. Now I hate to split, but I’m heading up to the beautiful Minnesota lake country. You see Kay, when you drive north from the Twin Cities, you run into more than just swamps and half-assed french speaking inbreeders. So I’m afraid I can only respond to your observation on Chili’s leadership skills. You’re right, terrible plan, his guys fumble 5 times and are still in position to win the game in the final minute, what an idiot. I see you’re not a real knowledgeable football fan. Too bad because you are a riot to read. Kiss your fish eating friends for me.

Viking Fan…..Dont y’all know that your team was playing in the NFL long before my Saints came along???? My Saints have been around for 43 years with out a championship but what does that say about your Vikes? The Steelers did not win a championship for Fourty years and when they did, they won five Super Bowls. When are y’all gonna win one? I project it wont happen with Brett Favre’a or T. Jackson. Maybe you should tell the Vikes to buy a raffel ticket to try and win a ‘Saints” Super Bowl ring at the game Sept. 9 since they will be in the dome anyway. I would also like to know what happens to Viking fans when they “lose that game”? It will be very intersting to see what happens from that night on….When your Vikes Lose…………..again!!!!
Call it crying, call it whatever you want, but everyone knows that the NFL wanted the Saints to win the superbowl, and they did everything possible the whole year to make that happen. Anyone who watched the game knows the refs did everything possible to give them that game. So go ahead and call us sore losers, never when a superbowl or whatever you want to, but we all know including yourselves it was given to you on a silver platter. A suburb of Minneapoils was just named the best place to live in America. I dont remember seeing New Orleans on that list. Just keep praying that Brad and Angelina buy more houses there to help you out!
Kay Bee, you really need to get a life, you are embarrassing yourself with your comments.
SmittyGill…..save your lectures for all the inbreeds.
buhbay1c…..Thank you for the entertainment for the evening! It was priceless how you made fools of them!
Vikings fans,
why do you ponder passing?
how many men are allowed in an offensive huddle?
how many turnovers is enough to lose a game?
who will be your starting quarterback?
when will you win a superbowl?
when will your runningback hold on to the ball with his bulging biceps and infant hands?
why do the women in minnesota have mustaches? is it to keep warm in the cold winter?
but most importantly I would like to know why do all of you your fans act like women? Even those that appear to be men act like women. They whine like women. They cry like women. Are there no men in Minnesota? Is there something in the water system which is depriving men of testosterone therefore making them act more feminine?
I do not know.
You wait until there’s 64 comments, then you go on some long rant making excuses for why the Vikings just aren’t good enough and why somebody should give a damn about Minneapolis LOL
You can’t dispute any of the facts about the Vikings that I mentioned.
You’re the one who needs to get a life. LMAO pathetic.
This will be my last post for this particular article because quite honestly, I don’t have the time to banter with you fools…but the bottom line is this: the saints were the NFL’s best team last year and they are likely to be the same this year. Expect the Viqueens to be medicore this season…maybe 9-7 at best and the Saints to once again win it all!!

Why were they stealing stuff that they couldn’t use until after power was restored?

By saying you were laughing at it. I don’t personally think that what looters do/did was classy or something to be proud of, but I wasn’t laughing about it (and I also wasn’t acting as if those looters represented the entire city of New Orleans). It was a terrible situation all around. I don’t know why you think it was funny or it’s something to insult New Orleans about – there are people who will take advantage of a bad situation in every city of every country in the world. Using that to demean a city because you hate their football team is pretty low-class if you ask me.
This thread delivers!
RCIV, the scum you saw looting business for items other than food were just that…they primarily included drug adicts and individuals with little to no income. Those types of people exist in every American city, not just New Orleans. Many of those people stuck around to intentionally wreak havoc or simply could not afford to evacuate. To demoralize a city based on the fact that there is such an element is preposterous and ignorant…plus, WTF does that have to do with football anyway? What do their actions have to do with the FACT that the Saints were the NFCs #1 seed and the FACT that they handedly defeated the AFCs #1 seed in the superbowl….you’re a freaking idiot man.
RCIV…if you want to see ignorant fans, talk to some of your fellow Vikings fans.
It’s a pity that there are so many CLASSLESS people on here who only know how to throw insults. Does it make you feel better? I know it makes me feel good that you are so miserable….after all we are sitting on top of the world with the SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONS and the NFL throwing a parade for the opening regular season game!! NO, it’s not a SAINTS parade but it might as well be because that is who will show up. We are loyal and support our team, through the good and the bad. As for the NFL “throwing” the playoffs…well, NO. For that you can thank brett favre. Instead of being a hero and going for the FIELD GOAL he turned into a ZERO and threw an interception….keep whining all you losers, it doesn’t change the fact that THE NEW ORLEANS SAINTS ARE THE SUPER BOWL 44 CHAMPIONS!!!!!!! CHEW ON THAT!!!!!
