Saints, Texans to renew practice rivalry

Last week, the Saints and the Patriots had a relatively tame series of practice sessions.  Last year, the Saints and the Texans had a bit more feisty go-’round, including one practice that featured six fights.

This year, the two teams are getting together again.  Asked whether it will be more physical this year, New Orleans coach Sean Payton was coy.

“Last year, we weren’t even in full pads,” Payton said Monday in comments distributed by the team.  “The practices have been spirited with those guys.  We have had two now with them and I think it has benefited both teams.”

  1. It really helps both teams, the Texans get to practice against a true championship team and the Saints go against a young hungry team that isn’t going to hold back.

  2. Ahhh the Texans, good ole Texans.
Since drafting Mario Williams over Reggie Bush in 2006:
    Texans postseason wins: 0
Saints postseason wins: 4 (1 superbowl victory)
    Texans post season appearances: 0
    Saints postseason appearances: 5
but yeah that pick really worked out for them, Williams has won them several games that they would not have won without him.

  3. thats pretty damn good- more postseason appearances for the Saints than there has been seasons. Very impressive math skills

  4. As a La. native. I have to love houston, they took in our refugees and gave us reggie bush. Stay classsy houston

    lol

  7. I still can’t believe there are people out there who think Bush would’ve been a better pick than Mario! Are you serious?!

  8. LOL Bush fans! Mario has twice been named first-team All-Pro since turning pro. Bush isn’t even a starter.
