I’m sick of Dungy making Vick his personal pet project for being the world’s greatest ‘mentor’. Anyone with a brain that watched Vick on his 60 Minutes redemption tour interview knows he’s not the least bit sorry he enjoyed killing dogs. He will never understand what he did was wrong.
I’d fire Dungy for being so stupid. Either he’s playing stupid about Vick, and making all his jackass excuses for Vick’s ‘mistakes’ (felonies, B-Day shootings, Herpes, aliases, illigetimate kids, pot smoking), or Dungy is just using Vick to sell his “Mentor” book. After all, it helps to have a famous felon to mentor.
When Vick gets arrested again and goes back to prison, (no question) then Dungy is going to look like an idiot for making excuses for “Ookie” over and over. I’d rather have Rex Ryan’s cussing over Dungy’s hypocrite agenda any day.

Thomas Jefferson ADAMANTLY fought for a wall of separation between church and state. And it is in our Constitution. Maybe Goodell should do the same for the NFL.

Tony didn’t spend enough time with his child.
And he never seemed all that bothered about his death. My family has not recovered in over 5 years from am 18 year olds death. Tony is the problem. Peyton made tony.

Really, I am what is wrong with this contry ? I live my life with values, and a sence of fear in going to a place that none of us want to think of going to. I guess i should be ashamed of trying to talk to people and keep them from going there as well ……. No, i will not be ashamed of that. I will not allow people like you to dicourage me from it. Like i said in earlier post, I do not force my opinion on people hince the reason NONE of you on here know what faith i am , what i believe, and why i believe what i do. This is the first time in over a year of posting on this site i have brought religion into anything, once again it was not because i wanted to force an opinion down everyones throat. But i wanted to point out that there are several people on here being VERY hypocritical on here by telling “us christians” why we are so wrong for our beliefs, to shut up, go to hell, etc…. but when we say our peace then we are being jesus freaks, shuving our way of life down your throats, forcing an opinion down your throats, etc… I just do not get how us “defending” our beliefs is forcing anything….. I have not seen ANYONE on here preach to anyone, preach salvation, offer a bible study, etc… But oh well, i guess only your opinion counts. I will continue being apart of ” the downfall to society” and I will share this with those who want to listen, and there are alot of people out there looking for religion. They are not crazy, or freaks they are everyday people like you and I. I hope you find what you are looking for. Have a great day!

Dungy has a point.. It’s not one that the majority here wants to hear, but he has a point and that is when you represent a team, which by the way is a corporate entity and you’re in upper management you watch the language you use when the camera’s are on.. it’s that simple.
If the employee of ..oh, I dunno.. any major corporation went on camera and began using the same language he would be out of a job. Try it when you go to work tomorrow.. Call up any news organization and ask them to bring cameras then start screaming obscenities and you too will be busy trying to collect unemployment REAL quick.
I’ve been fired for less and no, I’m not trying to preach any religion nor am I trying to be a goody two shoes. It’s just common decency and respect. If Ryan doesn’t want to be respectful then it’s on the Jets organization and BTW the NFL as well.

Wow, why are so many upset with Tony Dungy? Does he not have a right to an opinion?
First, I’ve seen the comment many times, “Why does Dungy feel he needs to comment on things like this?” Look, Dungy didn’t call a press conference because he felt he must give an opinion on this – he was a guest on a radio show and was asked a question on it.
Second, I don’t have any idea why people are bringing up Dungy’s son. That has nothing to do with this.
Third, I keep seeing the comment about Dungy supporting a “dog-killer” Michael Vick. Give me a break. He didn’t support what Vick did or offer support immediately after Vick was charged. Those of you who have mentioned this don’t have a point to make.
Fourth, it’s strange that people are commenting in support of crass language. But it’s even stranger that people are enraged just because Tony Dungy doesn’t like it.

WOW! This topic is intense. Valid pts made Ctown & BCGreg. To each his own on the profanity issue. Some believe they have to include strong language to drive home a message. I agree excessive cussing does weakens the message’s effectiveness and potency. What we need to be reminded of is athletes are not just entertainers. They’re husbands, fathers, sons, and, by default, mentors. They are reflections of their leadership as well. And to whom much is given much more is required. Leaders, which NFL head coaches are, have a responsibility to think of themselves-less. Which means they must consider others more than themselves. Some of these players come from abusive backgrounds-physical and verbal. So leaders must be sensitve in that regard not to offend or arouse a thought of a tormented past. Everyone don’t respond to profanity positively opposed to someone who has developed a tolerance for it. Instead of motivating players you’ve now diffused them. Furthermore, these men go home to their wives and children with that mentality of cussing and fussing. Its difficult to seperate work and home when 3/4 of your day is spent around harsh language, blood, sweat, and TEARS. And the latter is usually the result of either being injured, released, domestic violence, or arrest. So this is much, much bigger than JUST football and Rex Ryan dropping the F-bomb more than Richard Pryor Live on Sunset Strip (old schools remember that one). Rather, its about the responsibility of leaders. Thats why most of the commenters aren’t leaders-you’re SELFISH. You don’t consider others before acting or ,in this case, speaking. Rex is no exception. He spoke to his wife on the phone and he censored himself quite well. Trust me you will get nothing resolved with your wife or significant other with both of you spitting profanies at each another-trust me. Now, a timely profanity while being intimate may work but not when trying to make a point. It doesn’t work. And lets be senstive to Dungy concerning his son. Now, how evil is that to throw that in there. Maybe Vick. But leave the dead alone. Experience produces wisdom. And a lot is gained after a loss. Even more can be shared. Since his son is deceased he’s depositing that into others. Try it-its rewarding. Godspeed.

All of you people disparaging God and the people like Dungy, who supposedly “cram their way of life down our throats”, need to step back and think about the liberals who have crammed their way of life down the MAJORITY’S throats, ie socialism, corruption, anti-American sentiment, gay rights (Not that I am against gay people having rights. Just don’t call it gay rights. It’s HUMAN rights. No such thing as gay rights.). I say liberals because it is usually liberals who are anti religion.
We are a center right nation that has a core value of beliefs steeped in religion. We have freedoms and rights endowed by our Creator (that’s God). My point is that this country was founded by men who understood that God has a place in the way we live and govern. Unfortunately, as evidenced by the ignorant rants on this site, many people have lost any sense of direction. You do not have to be deeply religious to live a good life, but you don’t have to be INTOLLERANT of someone else’s beliefs in God. If you are an atheist, fine. Just don’t cram your beliefs or lack thereof down anyone’s throat either. I am not a deeply religious person, but I think God is important, and I do believe.
IMO, Dungy doesn’t think Ryan is a bad person. He just said he curses too much. Also, IMO, a little cursing can get your point across, but if you speak that way every sentence, then it loses its effectiveness. A well placed curse works much better than constant cursing.

Sorry, cannot do that. The bible says to share the gosple Difference between me and others i know and those you all are talking about is I talk to those who approach me. The only reason i said something on here is because i was frustrated with the picture you all were attempting to paint about ALL christians. I admidt that there are plenty of people out there who take it to extremes. They rub me the wrong way.
My last comment is this, I have had 10 times the amount of people come up to me and “force” there opinions on me ( through work and so on ) about why they do not like church then i have then those who knock doors, or pass out flyers. But i have never once told them to keep there opinions in there home, or to go back to molesting there kids or get so drunk they cannot stand, or any such thing. 1) Football players are NOT role models. Anyone who thinks different is using them as a cop out. Policemen, firemen, nurses, teachers, doctors…that YOUR CHILDREN will grow up to be…are role models. I was going to start of by saying ” I cannot believe the complete ignorance and hostility against christianity on here ” But i then realised that it is to be expected.
The bible is not just some “Book” If you all had any idea of what you were talking about you would know better. Pick up a book ( not the bible ) and read it, do some research and don’t just listen to what you hear about religion on TV!!
I was not born into a christian home, I did not step foot into a church until I was 20. I was like alot of people on this site, I believed there was a higher power but did not want it to be driven down my throat. I will not get into what brought me to church except by saying it had to do with my mother passing away and a preacher sitting with her for hours allowing her to just talk to someone. Do not judge all christians by the actions of a few. If we judged a group of people by what another individual did then every NFL player would be a dog killer, every office worker would be a postal maniac waiting to kill everyone and every white guy would hate blacks, every black guy would hate whites and so on. Every one has an individual story, we are the church EVERYONE of us if we like it or not. Your relationship with Jesus will determine if you get into heaven, not my relationship or some guy down the road. It makes me sad to see people claim there is no god and that it is just a fantasy. I understand you are scared, and you fear having to answer to something. I understand you think everything will be ok when you pass away. But as one who does believe this I will just ask ALL of you out there to do one thing. Tonight when you get ready for bed just for a few moments. Being real about it just pray and ask that if there is something more, somehing you have been missing out on when it comes to god and religion and leave it at that. If you truely feel nothing, nothing at all then i will admidt i am wrong about him!
