Chiefs add another quarterback

As we approach the time of the year when quarterback depth charts will start to shrink, the Chiefs have added another arm to the mix.

Former Pitt quarterback Bill Stull has joined former Pitt quarterback Tyler Palko as backups to starter Matt Cassel.

The acquisition of Stull arises from an arm injury that kept Brodie Croyle out of practice on Monday. Croyle’s absence forced Palko to take the second- and third-team reps.

To make room for Stull on the 80-man roster, the Chiefs waived defensive end Jeffrey Fitzgerald.

It remains to be seen whether the Chiefs keep two or three quarterbacks on the 53-man roster. Some teams use only two, with a third player on the practice squad.
