Favre arrives in Minnesota

Well, it has happened.

Three Vikings players went to Mississippi today to talk quarterback Brett Favre into playing again.  And they did more than talk him into it — they fetched him and brought him home.

KSTP has live video of the 2010 edition of the O.J. Simpson slow-speed chase, as a black SUV takes Favre to the team’s headquarters.

Apparently, Favre brought a spitter with him from Mississippi.  (Actually, it ended up being a pillow holder.)

The next question will be whether Favre joins the team, and plays, on Sunday night, when the Vikings travel to San Francisco for a game to be televised on NBC.

WOOTHOO!!!! i almost wish he’d wait till the 3rd preseason game like last year tho, since he followed that up with the 2nd highest qb rating in the league and finished 3rd in mvp voting. anyways i think we can all agree that the vikes will probly win the nfcn, the nfc and most likely the superbowl this year.

Minnesota is not “home” to Favre. He spends as little time as possible there (unfortunate, because it’s a great state, but he could care less), while Viking fans embarrass themselves by drooling all over a mercenary.
Philly has their douchebag fans, California is loaded with casual fans, Pittsburgh has rabid fans, but there is nothing more sad, less dignified, and more embarrassing than being a Viking fan. Biggest losers in the country.
I hope the Vikes get to the NFC Championship again this year, and Favre coughs it up- for the second time- but I doubt that he’ll make it through the year, and he’ll blame his ankle for it.

could the news have possibly gotten any worse for the packers? they find out that 1. percy harvin is back; 2. sid rice is back and running great; 3. ced griffin is close to being taken off the pup list; 4. BRETT FAVRE is flying in. on top of which antoine winfield is 100% and ej henderson is practicing full speed and ready to go.
ALL 22 starters from last season’s conference championship game team is back.
whereas the packers lost starters kampman and jolly, starter bibgby has had surgery, the team has been decimated by injuries and is having to start a 3rd round rookie at safety and use tight ends to sub at lb. and ted thompson is still the packers g.m.
    ouch.

Last Year: Childress drove to the airport to pick up Brett.
This Year: The Vikes have send Jared Allen and two other players to pick Favre IN Mississippi.
Next Year: The Vikings move training camp to Brett’s backyard in Hattiesburg so he can still fish in the afternoon after practice.

All those years of the humble guy who don’t care about the numbers or the money are shot down! Its now VERY clear all he ever cared about is just that! What a wine ass this guy has become! I take nothing away from his skills, just his honor! He had everyone fooled all them years that he loved the game and not the numbers or money! LIES LIES LIES!
OK so you want more money and to sit on your old dried up broken down ass! Man up and say so! I want more money and I’m too old and lazy to be at training camp with all the young players! He will do the same as he always does have a good year then screw it up in the last game once again! Give it up your old! Go sit in a Rockne chair and take care of your family! Its time to be a real man and think of them!
A former fan! Till I learned your just like the rest! MONEY MONEY MONEY NUMBERS NUMBERS NUMBERS! You care nothing about the sport or the fans! And no I’m not mad that your playing for someone other than the Packers it was time for Aaron to take the helm and you to go!

Favre has known from day 1 in Green Bay when he started pulling this BS that he intends to play every year. But it’s all about gathering attention for himself. He loves to make it appear that he’s riding in on his white horse to save the franchise. In reality, he has effectively ruined his reputation and image completely.
Apparently, the folks in Minnesota are the only people on the planet who’ve not caught onto his act by now. They send planes and personnel to plead with him……and he loves that. He should’ve walked after last year. No way he has another year like last year. Now it’s back to the usual Favre of throwing as many INT’s as TD’s. He blew his last great shot last season with that bonehead INT. No cupcake schedules this year for Favre. Gonna be fun watching Peppers end his career.

Now here come the sarcastic Favre comments. No prob., whats under the radar is the Viking D. That is the key to the route to the Super Bowl for the Norsemen. Can the backend of the D build upon the improvement that was shown in the latter end of the season? Specifically the YAC category. This was shown in the Dallas game(I do believe Dallas led the league in YAC last year). Albeit, preseason is preseason. I know some will point to the NO game(majority of the drives were on a short field). The malign secondary is looking better. Teams will not dent the run D and will be forced to put the ball up.The offense is the offense, besides Childress mishandling they will score and in bunches. No team has the balance that the Vikes posses in the O and D. Given, I will give the nod in the head coaching area at times. With that being said that is why the games are played. Good luck to all the teams and let the season began football fans.

could the news have possibly gotten any worse for the packers? they find out that 1. percy harvin is back; 2. sid rice is back and running great; 3. ced griffin is close to being taken off the pup list; 4. BRETT FAVRE is flying in. on top of which antoine winfield is 100% and ej henderson is practicing full speed and ready to go.
ALL 22 starters from last season’s conference championship game team is back.
whereas the packers lost starters kampman and jolly, starter bibgby has had surgery, the team has been decimated by injuries and is having to start a 3rd round rookie at safety and use tight ends to sub at lb. and ted thompson is still the packers g.m.
    ouch.
You mean the same twenty two guys that choked in the NFC championship game? Ouch!

    Oh my lord…
All you people blaming Favre for this circus are morons. The dude was just sitting at home relaxing, when three people came down to fetch him and bring him to MN if he wanted to play. Brett didn’t call them, he didn’t call the helicopters and he certainly didn’t call these two idiots Florio and Rosenthall and ask them to write 45 articles in a single day about it.
The dude wants to do what everyone is entitled to do, decide at 41 if he really wants to play football, and do it on his own terms. If the Vikings had a better option they wouldn’t be chasing him like a lap dog.
“Me first” athletes like Darrell Revis decide to stay home with three years left on their contract over money. This dude was staying home because “HEAVEN FORBID” he actually be torn about weather or not he wants to put his body through another NFL season. Who cares if he does it on his own terms. It takes two to dance. We have heard NOTHING out of Favre’s camp. he is not a diva. He is not promoting himself. The Vikings could have gone in another direction at any time. I applaud him for doing what he needed to do on his own terms and doing it quietly. The only one’s making the noise is the media. I’m from New England and not a Favre or MN fan, but I can’t wait to watch him this year.

Pretty sure this OLE GUN SLINGER played lights out last season. That kinda stuff gives you some cred for a get out of camp free card. Ya dig?

wasnt it the vikings year last year?
    and the year before that?
why didnt you win it last year?
you love to hate on packer fans…….. but you dont win w/o former packers…. well come close to winning.
what i enjoy is that i dont have to hear about the 5 games a year in danger of blackout when favre plays.
    ooooooo such great fans.
the same fans who 4 years ago hated favre, were all over the boards saying how washed up he is.
talk all the smack you want vikings fans….. revel in those back to back division titles…. how you spanked the pack twice last year.
what did you do with it?….nothing. it was your superbowl to lose. the vikes played their worst game of the year, and still took em to ot. great sense of urgency.
the reason you were successful was favre pretended to be coachable his first 7 games….after that he reverted to brett the coach…brett knows best…. brett tells you how it will be.
you didnt do it last year, you havent done it for 50 years, why believe you now?
win one….. thats all anyone ever asks…..just win one.
we got 3……how tough can it be?

So after Allen, Hutch, Longwell and Favre did their rendition of deliverance he decided to come back! I couldn’t be happier. Favre will add hope, excitement, promise and ultimately disappointment the to the Queens minimal fan base.
You did not know that this is all a carefully crafted plan by Ted Thompson, Favre and the Packers. They planned to have Favre join the Queens to bring them to the brink of ultimate success only to fail resulting in a less than proud franchise losing the opportunity for a new stadium and moving to a state that will actually sell out home games win or lose. Ted Thompson is genius!

Mom jokes? Really? OOOOH how edgy!!
Your grandchildren(?) are laughing at you. Not anyone else.
    Mr. Originality strikes again!!
Your TT analogy is priceless also, the sad thing is, I’m sure you believe it.
It’s a sad commentary on your life that the “highlight” of your time with your grandkids, is to watch grandpa “get the upper hand by being so diabolical to have 9 screen names”.
Poor kids would probably love to be in the Dells, but gramps wants to show them how to be a keyboard warrior.
Face it, youre sacred and pissed he’s back. you know the pack is irrelevant while he’s on the Vikings.
I understand your anger, but for God’s sake spend some time with those kids, or they will wind up hating you( if they don’t already)
They probably are laughing at what a pathetic putz Grandpa is anyway for having to be in school(GED?).

What? You had to actually go look that up? What a proud Queens “fan” you must be!
It probably doesn’t mention it in the article, but the Queens were the AFL’s favorite team that year. They had legendary players on both offense and defense – Joe Kapp at QB, Fred Cox kicking, Carl Eller and Alan Page on the D-Line. They were known far and wide as the “Purple People Eaters”, the absolute pride of the NFL. Then they went to the Super Bowl and got their ass kicked by the Chiefs. The performance of the Queens that day single-handedly brought about the AFL-NFL merger. It also kicked off their sorry string of Super Bowl performances – did they ever even score more than 7 points in one?
Go ahead and rejoice in your lone NFL title. Rewrite history and pretend that that title really meant something. Pretend that the Super Bowl didn’t mean as much back then as it does today, just because there were two separate leagues – that it was just a post-season exhibition game. Pretend that you really, really won something that year.
You’re probably also one of those jag-offs who thinks that beating the Packers twice in one year qualifies as the ultimate achievement.
    Aim higher, loser!

    Bullshit!
I am pretty sure Namath and the Jets had a lot to say about that.
They scored 14 against the Raiders, so, yeah, they did score more than 7.
Leave it to another packer turd to live in the 60′s and early 70′s.
What this has to do with 2010, only fools such as you would know.
It’s not the ultimate achievement to beat the pack twice, but it sure feels good.
Doubly good last year with your “washed up” old QB.

RC, only if Gravy was here so we could have a foursome (I’m not talking golf!)
By the way, I am in fact, glad Favre returned. Win or lose I’d rather do it against your best players. Without him, you’re also rans competing for third place in the division.
    Glad you’re all so confident…..

You obviously do not understand what this site is all about( hence the back to school thing i suppose).
I’m sure your grandkids are impressed with your stunning display of subterfuge, they are after all kids.
I’ll let you in on a secret though. The only reason your little ploy worked is because Super has several aliases on here, he likes to play a game with me. It wasn’t because you are some master manipulator. You siad super figured it out right away….no kidding? He knew it wasn’t him, obviously.
He and i are good freinds offline and try to get each others goats all the time.
But if it makes your grandkids respect you a little more, that’s cool.

My first thought is, how can you possibly have any friends?
The depths to which you take your classlessness are bottomless. Your continued drivel about me only lessens you as the small person you already are.
Since you still are harping on my little experiment you’ve proven I was more successful than even I thought! You and your sisters on this board will always be gullible and basically have no clue. I’ve taken you completely out of your ability to talk rationally about anything!
You know, I could continue to lower myself to your level and that of your girlfriends and talk about how much of an egg sucking begrimed, raunchy, putrid, fudge packing vampire, turd, douche, dog you are. I could also tell you to put your lutefisk lip balm on and kiss Perv’s ass (unfortunately I already know you do that). But no, I won’t do that. Instead, I’ll take the high road. And state what is obvious to all but the less than classy Viking fans on this thread.
The Viking implosion has begun. No matter how talented this team could ever be they will never win a Super Bowl as long as they are in Minnesota.
