Welcome back, Andre Smith

It looks like Bengals second-year tackle Andre Smith heard Marvin Lewis’ message.

In a day of happy returns in the NFL, Smith’s jump off the PUP list almost went unnoticed.  Well, it was a happy day for Smith anyhow.

“I’m alive, so it must have went pretty good,” said Smith, who admitted he was a little rusty.  “A couple of cans of WD40 I should be all right.”

Smith is optimistic he’ll be ready for Week 1, but the Bengals coaching staff wants to see more progress.

“It looked like he hasn’t been practicing,” offensive line Paul Alexander said; we imagine with something like a harrumph.

WD40? Couldn’t he get his hands on cough medicine, plastic glue, or gasoline?

Doesn’t he mean his couple of double D breasts…

The WD-40 reference isn’t a good one for a tackle to use..
When I read that I immediately thought of him getting ran around by defensive player’s as if he had sprayed WD-40 all over himself..

He should opt for the cans of Slim Fast……

  5. Laxer37 says: Aug 17, 2010 9:06 PM

The Bengals are going to start him at center and his man-boobs will play right and left guard.

I think Andre has been confusing WD40 with Cheese Whiz

‘Bama turns out some good players, but a lot of soft ones.

WD40…….guess the glazed donuts weren’t working.

He’s a POS. Prior to his combine, i really wanted the Raiders to draft him. So glad they didnt, there are enough bums on the Silver and Black.

Just think if the Bengals could sign Jemarcus Fats to backup Carson, what a fight there would be at the feeding trough! Andre, the Giant vs Jemarcus Fats.

Hey, who wants to take over thias site? It has become STALE and SLOW. I think Florio has other fish to fry.

This is good news for Bengals fans. Just think, if Andre’s fat ass will allow a fast defensive end to swarm right past him and destroy Carson Palmer’s knee, forcing the Bengals to resort to another QB, the Bengals might – MIGHT – have a chance.

Ha ha. Andre Smith played really well in limited action last year. There is very little chance that he will bust.

this guy seemed like a sure thing coming out of ‘bama, I remember watching him play in college thinking he was the real deal. i still think its too early to call him a bust at the next level, but obviously nobody is impressed yet. not everybody has an immediate impact like jake long though, he’s got some time to develop into a competent left tackle.

The signs were all around him at the Combine. Only the Bengals would pick an idiot like this.
Fat, lazy and stupid. And now has money and no motive.

-All around him? He was only there for a half hour.

Couple cans of purple drank and he should be good to go! The freaking Bengals……What would PFT do without them?

if anyone watches hard knocks, you know he has the mentality of a child..I can’t believe they signed him.

  28. Floriohatescincy says: Aug 18, 2010 1:17 PM

As frustrated as I (and probably most fans) are with him, to call him a bust is premature and shortsighted. To call him immature and probably lazy? Well, that cannot be denied. Perhaps some of you can’t discern the difference though, and since things premature and short are probably the norm for folks like Laxer, golong and the like, I’m not surprised to see what I see in the comments section. We’ll talk about it again after he plays RT in an actual game this year. Guy played pretty well last year when he was cleared to play. Alualu, your name says all it needs to about your franchise, way to rep. The freaking Jags, what would the AFC south do without them?
