The Titans waived/injured former USC running back Stafon Johnson on Tuesday, but coach Jeff Fisher explained that Johnson will stay with the team and rehab his broken leg and ankle in Tennessee once he clears waivers and reverts to injured reserve.
Johnson made an improbable recovery from a near-fatal weightlighting accident last year and says this setback won’t crush his NFL dreams.
“I’ve made it this far. Everybody counted me out,” Johnson said on Tuesday. “In
three weeks or so, it will make a year that I should have been gone,
deceased and off this earth.”
Johnson says he can still be a dominant NFL running back and his faith will help him during his recover.
“For Him to bring me back and just let me to be eating on my own and
breathing on my own and eating and doing things like that. . . . Why would
I quit now?” Johnson said. “I can’t let down myself or everybody else.”
wow a player with character. thats refreshing.
He sounds like a class act and a guy that will never take anything for granted. Good luck to Stafon and hopefully he ends up with a solid NFL career.
Running backs suffer ankle injuries all the time, bit more serious than normal but not career threatenting.
I like this guy a lot.
What refreshing perspective. Soldier on my man.. Gives me someone to root for.
“For Him to bring me back and just let me to be eating on my own and breathing on my own and eating and doing things like that. . . . Why would I quit now?” Johnson said. “Not only am I going to let down myself, but I’d be letting ever I everybody else down, and why would I have that on my heart?”

I love this guy’s attitude! He’s not saying he “deserves” anything, he’s saying he OWES it!
I want to see good things happen for this young man.
Wish he could somehow end up on my team.
Good luck, buddy. Hope you play next year.
How did this guy ever fit in at USC??? I wish him the best of luck and an all pro career. Very few guys seem to get it but it looks like he’s the unicorn.
this guy is going to produce one day, even if its just for a game.
And it will be on espn 60 or whatever for weeks.
it’s a shame of all the bad kharma… I hope he lands on a team… most likely practice squad..
good man here wish him well
Nothing but heart.
Best of luck, Stafon. Stay strong.
He could end up on a different team. I hope some other team picks him up off waivers.
How can you not love this kid!?!?!?! This is the kind of player that you pull for, no matter what team he is on.
Stay cool, stay strong Stefan… see you soon
This is a story of a strong man. Stafon grew up in Compton, but that didn’t stop him from growing into an admirable young man. I hope that he does prove everybody wrong and makes it in the NFL.
Come back stronger Stefan! Who Dat nation has ur back!
Good luck on the leg rehab Stephan , stay strong man !
Stafon has always been a class act. He will one day be an outstanding football player in the NFL.
Best of luck to you Stafon…
Great words. This, my friends, is what separates winners from losers. Perseverance, determination, hard work, sacrifice. Here’s hoping he lands on a team somewhere and tears the league a new one.
