Ochocinco posts in-game tweet regarding the big hit he absorbed

Last year, the NFL promulgated clear rules prohibiting the use of Twitter and other social media during games.  The hard hit absorbed on Friday night by Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco apparently caused him to forget about the ban.

Ochocinco posted the following message at 9:53 p.m. ET:  “Man Im sick of getting hit like that , its the damn preseason shit! 1day I’m gone jump up and start throwing hay makers , #Tylenolplease.”

The tweet apparently was posted during the third quarter of Friday night’s preseason game against the Eagles, after Ochocinco’s time in the game had ended.

So, yeah, he’ll probably be fined.  And, yeah, he’ll probably complain about it.  And, yeah, he’ll pay it.

And, yeah, he’ll likely do it again.

    Fact is Ocho Cinco likes the attention, and he’s not hurting his team in the process as he stand behind his teammates in every situation.
    Furthermore (and this isn’t reported nearly enough) every time he gets fined he makes a matching charitable donation. How can you not love the guy for doing that?!?

I feel like he is the only guy that wants to be entertaining and he understands how this business works. If you made a few mil each year and wanted to wear gold shoes knowing a $10k fine was coming would you really care? I think he is actually having fun, and in the end it is a job for him. Absolutely right! In every other line of work employees are held to a much higher standard of conduct while on the job. Why should athletes be any different? The owners pay them and they want to keep things professional and things should be kept professional. That might be hard for some of you in the “me, me, me” generation to grasp as the only education you have received is the one being fed to you by 60’s socialists & commies via your government run schools and media, but hopefully you’ll dump this ideology when you grown up and face life head on in the harsh realities of day to day adult life. Unlearn that sh– they teach you in school (outside of math and most science). They are social engineering you naive little robots into becoming politically correct, planet obsessed, entitlement rats. @ Huckle
    You must be a Socialist.
    When the President surrounds himself with self avowed socialists and communists, then how is it paranoia that a lot of people think we are headed toward socialism?
    When the government FORCES you to do something, like buy health insurance, that is Socialist.
    When the government takes over private companies (see Chrysler and GMC), that’s socialist.
    When the government wants to “spread the wealth”, that’s socialist.
    Providing education, police and fire is a public service that our founding fathers thought necessary in building a strong country. You cannot have a strong country with an uneducated, lawless citizenry hence the provision of these services. Do your research starting with what the definition of “Socialism” is.
    Using your definitions, since I send my kids to private school, can I back out the tax money I send to the government for this service that I do not use?

  67. muchmaligned says: Aug 21, 2010 1:57 PM

    @bcgregg,
    You should stop relying on charlatans to define words for you. Your lack of understanding of basic politics and basic civics should render you “opinionless.” If it is true, as you suggest, that you have spawned, you have done a disservice to your larvae and all of humanity.
    Btw, chastising another poster for not researching the definition of a term is the height of delusion.
    In short, you don’t have a clue what the hell you’re talking about.
    Bengals will be much improved this year, but they won’t win the AFC Championship.

    Or maybe he’s just one of few players in the NFL that actually remembers it’s a game.
    I’m not going to deny that the NFL is a business first, and that Chad does what is good for business for him. But him having elaborate TD celebrations and him tweeting and him actually enjoying himself on the field or in this case him complaining about a hard hit is all about him having fun in a game, not a business.

    You’re a typical liberal progressive (ie socialist)who resorts to name calling and telling everyone else to STFU because you know what’s good for everyone.
    I call a spade a spade, and what’s going on in this country within government is an attempt–and I say attempt because in November, the people will set it straight, by making Barry O a lame duck–to make this country a socialist one. Facts are facts. What has been done is socialism to the core.

    If he wants to celebrate a TD great. A spontaneous celebration is fun. A premeditated celebration is business–more pub. Tweeting that next time, he’s gonna jump up and “start throwing hay makers” is another manufactured attempt to get people to watch him for more pub–more business.
    Sure, he might have fun playing, but none of these things are “fun”. They might be “fun” to plan, but that’s all that it is–a business plan.

    @bccgregg,
    Instead of attempting to distract from your ridiculous, unsubstantiated and weak posts, you should just admit that you’re an unsuccessful, angry little man. You have done nothing more than take from this great country, but because another jackass, a multi-millionaire no less, has filled your tiny brain with ludicrous delusions of grandeur, you believe the history’s most successful capitalist democracy is a socialist nation.
    “At least I’m gettin’ some” is no excuse for troglodytes like you to procreate.
    If you can post a link to a dictionary site which states “When the government takes over private companies (see Chrysler and GMC); that’s socialist.”, I’ll buy one of your tinfoil hats.
    You are as arrogantly ignorant as Palin. You have done zero research on any of the situations you claim have this country hurdling towards socialism. Typical Regressive; undereducated, over-opinionated.
    A rich guy jerked your chain to make himself richer and you fell for it. You’re a dupe. Enjoy!

    @ muchmaligned
    From Wikipedia:
    Socialism is an economic and political theory advocating public or common ownership and cooperative management of the means of production and allocation of resources.
    “Public or common ownership” means government ownership. Government took over Chrysler by firing its CEOs and allocating 70 cents on the dollar to the unions and 17 cents on the dollar to the shareholders as part of the bankruptcy settlement instead of letting existing laws and procedures run their course.
    From WordNet
    socialism (a political theory advocating state ownership of industry)
    socialism, socialist economy (an economic system based on state ownership of capital)
    Taking over the car companies and health care is “state ownership”.
    From Wiktionary
    Any of various political philosophies that support social and economic equality, collective decision-making, and public control of productive capital and natural resources
    “Social and economic equality”=spread the wealth
    “collective decision making”=putting the interests of foreign nations over the interests of the American people (that includes you).
    “Public control of productive capital”=government taking over private industry such as the car companies.
    Now go to the store and buy some Reynolds wrap. You continue to call me names like a typical liberal. You have ZERO facts, so you fall back to name calling.
    Also, I do not believe the “world’s most successful capitalist democracy is a socialist nation.” I SAID that Obama’s policies are leading us toward socialism (ie they are socialist policies, ie Obama is a socialist) and that people who don’t believe that outta look up the word. So, before you call me names, re-read what I wrote.
    For your info, I am a middle class, small business owner. I am not rich by any means. I get nothing from the government except taxed. Nothing has been given to me. I have earned everything I have. What I cannot do is let people like you take from me and my family, so I will not sit idly by and let it happen. It’s not out of anger at all. You’re the one who has put me down. You’re the one who has disparaged my kids. That’s anger born from the lack of knowledge and foresight.
    And BTW, who is this “rich” man you say I listen to?

    @bcgregg,
    Thanks so much for proving my point. Not one of those definitions supports your paranoia. You get nothing from this bastion of capitalism? You ungrateful wretch. The fact that you are allowed to vote sickens me. The fact that you are allowed to regurgitate this unsubstantiated drivel pleases me to no end. I have served my country so that trash like you can disparage her. Well done!
    I assume you would have us do away with Social Security? Medicare/Medicaid? Department of Education? Department of Transportation? Human Services? FCC? FDA? All of these meet the definition of Socialism.
    Do you think Ronnie Reagan was a Socialist? The size of the federal government tripled under Reagan. Was FDR a Socialist? The current POTUS is implementing some of the same measures to stem the tide of depression as FDR was forced to. Again, you don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.
    You are an angry piece of crap, raising angry turds. Enjoy!

    Hopefully he does get fined… seeing that he matches the amount of his fines and donates it to charity. Only player i’ve seen that gets fined on purpose and uses it to donate. When’s the last time you gave to charity? Most likely you’re the one that receives it.
