Haynesworth unloads on Shanahan

Just when the buzz from the Brett Favre unretirement (or whatever it was) has begun to fade, Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth has stepped up to provide some intrigue.

Per John Keim of the Washington Examiner, Haynesworth unloaded on coach Mike Shanahan during a press conference after Saturday night’s preseason loss to the Ravens. Haynesworth isn’t happy that his absence from practice on Thursday was characterized as resulting from a “headache,” which came after two days that Haynesworth missed with symptoms of dehydration.

Haynesworth, who made quote marks with his fingers whenever saying the word “headache,” believes that Shanahan again is retaliating against the veteran defender for his decision to boycott the offseason program. Asked why the team would understate his health condition, Haynesworth said, “I don’t know, but I guess to make themselves look good, make me look bad for not going to their offseason conditioning program. Next year I’m not coming either. I’ll be with my trainer again and I’ll get back in the same shape I’m in and feel good about myself.”

The team 86’d the press conference after only 86 seconds. We have a feeling that more will be coming.
