Josh Freeman out for the rest of the preseason

Josh Freeman’s preseason will end after only nine passing attempts.

The Bucs announced that their starting quarterback will miss the rest of the preseason with a fractured tip of his right thumb. We’re not sure if the quick diagnosis is bad sign for Freeman making it back for Week 1 or not.

Either way, this entire 2010 Bucs season is about Freeman’s development.  He’s going to miss a lot of valuable work in the next few weeks, and the Tampa Bay franchise will hope that’s all he winds up missing.

Since this game was blacked out locally and I will be watching the replay sunday morning. for now i just wanted to make sure nothing went horribly wrong tonight. I was not looking for the score or any highlights. basically just an injury report and as soon as PFT loads on my screen it says Josh Freeman out for rest of the… my heart skips a beat and then I read preason. not the end of the world but trust me thats bad enough hopefully now the bucs management realizes that if they need get a legit QB to backup freeman. somtimes i just want to scream

The announcing team for the Chiefs were wondering why Freeman was taken out so soon because they felt that he needed to get work this preseason and now we know why. The Bucs’ OL had Freeman and Johnson running for their lives.

This is a shame… I think history will show that Freeman was the best QB of the 2009 draft. Far superior to Stafford and Sanchez.
And no I’m not a Bucs fan!

this will be two preseasons where freeman basically does nothing. great. last year for the botched byron leftwich/luke mccown experiment, and now an injury.

i agree. josh freeman looks like hes the real deal. im not sure if hes better than bradford and stafford but better than flacco and sanchez.

The Bucs radio announcers said that he would be able to practice, so it sounds like keeping him out for the rest of the pre-season may not indicate a severe injury.

As a chiefs fan I was watching and a Josh Freeman fan. He is a k state guy and an all around athlete. He’s going to be a good qb and better than stafford and Bradford because of size and like I said overall athletic ability. The bucs have a great back up in the other Josh at qb. But like the chiefs we both have a shitty line. I’m not at all sold on our overpaid qb matt cassel at all. I would trade his ass for either Josh from the bucs at this point

    He’s not quarterback material anyways.

The Bucs need to sign a veteran to QB this team for a few years and allow Freeman to develop for the 4 – 5 years it is going to take for him to become a reliable starter. Maybe this “Injury” will entice them to do this.

I’m a Saints fan, and I love this kid…he’ll be a good one!

You guys think that Freeman is better than stafford? because of his size and athletic ability? Right. Because both of those things translate into THROWING THE BALL. He needs to learn how to read an NFL defense. Had one good game against the pack, otherwise he was a very, very raw rookie. This lack of preseason snaps is going to hinder his progression in his second year.

Nice game , saw the highlights this AM. Thank God for radio. The back up QB [ the other Josh ] looked solid. No worries. GO BUCS!

Freeman will be the undoing of his “in-over-his-head” head coach.,Raheem Morris.
With the 1st pick in the 20011 draft the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select……

REALLY? 20011? You know wh the bucks are going to draft 18,000 years into the future? You’re an idiot!

All those Freeman haters are idiots and don’t have a clue to what they are talking about.
Passing rating-wise he was nearly identical to Sanchez and Stafford despite playing with far inferior offensive talent (and being asked to win games because of a crappy defense).
This guy is a legendary worker and that is THE most important quality for an NFL QB.
