Mostly known for his 11-year run in Philadelphia, left tackle Tra Thomas retired on Saturday, as we first mentioned earlier this afternoon.
His agent Peter Shaffer told PFT, “Tra Thomas retired on his own. He’s at peace with the decision. He had a great run.”
Thomas spent 2009 with the Jaguars and was in training camp with the Chargers this year. He underwent knee surgery in early August.
The No. 11 pick in the 1998 draft, Thomas made three Pro Bowls with the Eagles.
The pressure increases on AJ and Dean Spanos in this test of wills. How can they go with Dombrowski and a practice squad type back-up and tell the fans they’re “doing what’s best for the Chargers”? Sign Marcus McNeill!

Tra is “at peace”. Though not yet “dearly beloved”, or “missed by all who knew him”. Still, if you want to send donations, I’m sure he wouldn’t turn them down.
Tra Thomas was a great player for the Eagles and I’ll always miss him playing for our team. The good old days with Tra Thomas and Jonny Runyan! E A G L E S EAGLES!!
Best of luck! Played hard and fought thru injuries. Never, ever whined about it.
Good luck in the future TT.
