Cowboys-Chargers one-liners

Cowboys QB Tony Romo finally led the team to a touchdown but the offense remained sluggish in a 16-14 victory.

The blame for that can’t be placed on the Cowboys’ makeshift offensive line because G Montrae Holland and T Robert Brewster played well.

Cowboys rookie S Akwasi Owusu-Ansah played for the first time in preseason but deemed his performance unacceptable after a fumble and some other shaky moments on kick returns.

Cowboys TE Martellus Bennett celebrated a touchdown catch with a dance gleaned from a music video.

LB Keith Brooking left the game with a shoulder injury but the Cowboys don’t expect him to miss much, if any, time going forward.

Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 11-of-15 passes but threw an uncharacteristic red zone interception.

Rivers also caught some criticism for risking his body to make a touchdown-saving tackle after a fumble by Chargers RB Darren Sproles.

Chargers RB Ryan Mathews had 53 yards on 12 carries and also had a 13-yard catch.

Despite the loss, Chargers coach Norv Turner was effusive in praise for his team: “I can’t be more excited about the things our players are doing. The
physicalness, the attitude and the way they came out and played in the
first half. We blocked the run
exceptionally well. We protected the quarterback. I can’t say enough
about the way our defensive front is playing.”

After watching Rivers get sacked and pressured into throwing a pick, Jay Paris of the North County Times writes that it is time for the Chargers to sign T Marcus McNeill.

Rivers has now played in an AFC Chapionship game following mid week Orthoscopic surgery and dumps a cowgirl safty with an enturage like trash. PR is the MFIC in any game he plays.

What about the other 13 times he dropped bacl? They were protecting him good. Mcneil lost some leverage last night.

I am a Cowboy fan…..I bleed silver and blue….I know I know it’s preseason but the Chargers physically whipped our ass last night. They gutted the middle of our defense, They seemed to display very few mistakes (I am talking starters versus starters)….they look good. Phillip Rivers looked good…it looked a lot like the regular season game we played them in last year.

No wonder the Chargers choke in the playoffs???

So if the Chargers sign McNeill would he play RB, because the RB was responsible for the sack? Dombrowski really impressed me last night and I’m 100% comfortable for him to be our full time starter. If not for 2 red zone turnovers and a gimme TD, the Chargers starters would be up 21-0 at half.

Roy williams is a total non event, most overrated player on that team. he’ll be licking Dez’s jock week 4

  8. Jagerbolt says: Aug 22, 2010 1:51 PM

Sack was on Ryan Mathews, not on Dombrowski like others have said.
Oh and who has Dombrowski faced and handled pretty good so far? Marcus Ware and Julius Peppers.
Nobody is saying he’s better than McNeil but he’s holding his own so far just fine.

Chargers & Cowboys, perennial preseason champs.
At least the Cowboys have some hardware in their trophy case, unlike the Chargers, who have never, ever won a thing.

Can’t wait till wk 5 to see if they can handle Raiders DE’s .10 sacks from first team D in to two preseason games.Better hope the ref’s are helping you again. Going down biches!!!! And @Humblows———Get off PR’s junk!!!

Only a Raider fan could be sad and dumb
enough to look forward to another game
    against the Chargers…
Rivers has beat you every time (8, so far)
    he’s faced you…
    that makes 13 straight games.
Only an 0 for 13 Raiderette could be trash talking now!

Its a good thing the cowgirls were playing San Diego and not a team with a better set of rushers. Homo would have gotten hurt. Let’s all pray that homo is out for at least half the season.

@DieHard (or is it actually BlowHard?)
Wishing injury on opposing players now huh? Classy. I suppose the only real chance the ‘Skins have is everybody else getting hurt though.
