To Giants coach Tom Coughlin, “on time” means five minutes early, and four minutes early is late.
So when two players showed up late — actually late — to team meetings, Coughlin wasn’t pleased.
Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reports that Giants safety Antrel Rolle and running back Ahmad Bradshaw were both sidelined for the first series of the Giants’ preseason game as punishment for being late to meetings.
Although some players have groused about Coughlin’s obsession with punctuality, Rolle wasn’t complaining afterward.
“I was in the hotel and I read my schedule wrong, so I was late for a special teams meeting,” Rolle said. “I’ve been around long enough to understand there are consequences, so I took it like a man. There is no issue. We’ll move on.”
“Consequences”, the dreaded C word hanging over the head of every pre-schooler in the nation.
Wow. That’ll teach them.
Just wait Giant fans when Rolle is getting beat and gives up on plays!
Maybe next time he’ll take away their XBox for the night.
