Sam Bradford will start on Thursday

On Sunday, Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo said that, if quarterback A.J. Feeley can’t practice this week, rookie Sam Bradford will start on Thursday night against the Patriots.

As it turns out, Feeley won’t practice this week, due to thumb and elbow injuries.  Thus, Bradford will start.

It’s not quite a Trent Green/Kurt Warner situation, since Feeley isn’t out for the year and Bradford is expected to win the job at some point anyway.  But it’s significant because it makes Bradford the starter in the third preseason game, widely regarded as the most important.

Whether Bradford parlays his performance against the Pats into the Week 1 assignment depends in large part on whether the offensive line can keep Bradford’s body in one piece.  Indeed, Feeley’s injury happened when a blitzing Browns linebacker got through the protection and struck the starter’s arm.

In two preseason appearances, Bradford has completed 12 of 27 passes for 81 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions.

If Bradford starts the next game and Tebow misses another one, Sam has a shot at catching Tim in passing yardage among rookie QBs.

…and the EMT’s. Ask them to bring extra arm/shoulder slings and warm up the MRI machine.

WHY does everyone think Bradford’s shoulder isn’t fully healed????? Bradford’s shoulder is NOT the issue here, the issue is the offensive line and Jason Smith NEEDS to play better, he is playing his way into the next offensive tackle bust.
