You do realize that Finley started 10 of the 13 games he appeared in right? Not quite sure how this equates to being a back up, but please, feel free to keep making crap up.
And at the same time, you want to compare Driver, a 16 game starter, to Harvin, who started 8. Ok, here it is.
Driver- 70 rec, 1061 yards, 6 TD’s, 2 fumbles, 13 rushing yards
Harvin- 60 rec, 790 yards, 6 TD’s, 1 fumble, 135 rushing yards, 1156 return yards, 2 return TD’s
And you say Rodgers wasn’t at fault for those sacks, yet even his own coach put the blame on him, saying he needed to get rid of the ball faster.

Majik, Rodgers was at fault for 20% of those sacks MAX. Especially the first half of the season, he was getting run over in 2 seconds on plays calling for a 5 step drop. No comment on the injury issue or finley debate though huh? Guess you have to stick to points that are at least debatable. You compared a starting TE to a backup, who still had more yards. How about comparing Harvin to Donald Driver?

And what happened to the mighty GB O line against the Cards in the WC game? They were at full strength, yet Rodgers went down 5 times.

Gravy, are you serious? Finley was Donald Lee’s backup last season and didn’t play that many snaps even before he missed four games. You’re comparing a starter to a backup TE? How does that work. Not to mention Finley had the best stats of any TE in the league during the second half of the season and he was still splitting time with Donald Lee. Get your facts straight. There isn’t one team in this league who would take Schiancoe over Finley from here on out. Be realistic. Finley was a 22 year old backup in his second season and Schiancoe was a 30 year old veteran.
Another point you made that is just laughable is the injury issue. The Vikings had one of the best years on the injury front of any team I’ve ever seen. You had one legitimate injury with Henderson and got every break the entire season before the NFC Champ game. You love to talk about how you beat the Pack both games last season and the Pack were without a starting safety, a starting cornerback, both starting OT’s, and their best returner among others. You think Allen would’ve gotten a bunch of sacks on Clifton and Tauscher?
Lastly, outside of the first few games, you can’t blame Rodgers for the sacks he was taking. How when comparing Favre and Rodgers do you downgrade Rodgers for having an injury depleted O-Line and getting sacked a bunch? Plus as was mentioned, Rodgers was second in the league in rushing yards at QB and had about 5 rushing TD’s. Where’s that in your statistical comparison?

Fair enough. Finley played in 13 games last season, Shiancoe played in 16. So averaging out Finley’s stats, his projected numbers over 16 games would have been:
68 rec, 832 yards, and 6 TD’s. Still a wash.
Rodgers did have 300 rushing yards, but all the extra sacks and fumbles pretty well cancel that out, not to mention the safety he took and a worse W-L record. At any rate, I was just disputing Fire Ted’s claim that Rodgers was superior to Favre, when he clearly was not.

majik bullet is right, plus he’s being really generous calling shank vs. finley a wash – shank had more catches, 6 more td’s, no fumbles so advantage shank. then when you factor in harvin also, well it’s no surprise the vikes were the 2nd highest scoring team in the nfl.
pcker fans are always coming up to me and asking “gravy, should we be more worried about our defense or our special teams” and my answer is “excellent question, they’re both big problems and they’re connected problems cause pckers special teams give your opponents short fields to work with and then when there’s no pass rush and your lb’s don’t cover up the middle and your d-backs give such a big cushion and just let receivers make catches at will, when you face good qb’s like favre, rothlisberger and warner you’ve got a recipe for disaster.

Rodgers- 4434 yards, 30 TD’s, 7 INT’s, 64.7%, 103.2 QB rating, 10 fumbles, 50 sacks
Favre- 4202 yards, 33 TD’s, 7 INT’s, 68.4%, 107.2 QB rating, 2 fumbles, 34 sacks
Advantage Favre everywhere but yards. And all this behind equal lines, according to you.
Finley- 55 rec, 676 yards, 5 TD’s, 1 fumble
Shiancoe- 56 rec, 566 yards, 11 TD’s, 0 fumbles (much better blocker)
We’ll call this a wash out of pity for your ignorance.
Jennings- 68 rec, 1113 yards, 4 TD’s
Rice- 83 rec, 1312 yards, 8 TD’s
Not even close.
And why would you compare Gerhart to Grant. Only a Packer fan would compare a 3rd string back to their starter to try to make his team look better. Peterson is miles ahead of Grant, even if he does fumble. And Gerhart is probably equal to or better than any back up GB can throw out there, i.e. Brandon Jackson and his 3 YPC.
So again, where are these superior skill players on GB’s roster that you speak of?

If you don’t like watching Adrian Peterson carry the football then you are not a true fan of the game, plain and simple. He is a treat to watch. He is a tremendous back. Anyone who says otherwise is obviously just some pathetic homer in here venting out their life’s frustrations in some unproductive manner.
The guy rocks. We don’t get that many players of his caliber. Even with Favre last season tearing it up opponents still pounded 8 or 9 in the box consistently week in and week out. Yes folks, he’s that good. Watch him. It’s fun.

Great article, all great points.
I think everyone is holding their breath with him this season. We all want to see the kid have a sick season and just demolish the NFL, but the NFL is a much harder place to run the ball these days and he’s going to have to seriously step up and dominate again like he did his rookie year.
I for one, hope to see 2000 yards out of him simply for the probable highlights.
