Broncos’ Demaryius Thomas likely to miss Week One

The good news for Broncos rookie receiver Demaryius Thomas is that he doesn’t have a stress fracture. The bad news is that the foot is bothering him enough that he probably will miss the regular-season opener.

Thomas wasn’t at practice today after injuring the foot yesterday, and Jeff Legwold of the Denver Post reports that the team initially feared Thomas could miss three or four months with a stress fracture in his left foot -- the same foot he injured during a pre-draft workout in February.

But an MRI revealed that Thomas does not have a stress fracture and apparently just has some problems with scar tissue from the previous injury.

Still, Thomas, who was taken with the 22nd pick in the first round of the draft, isn’t expected to be ready to get back on the field in time for the September 12 opener against the Jaguars. For the Broncos, that’s one more piece of bad injury news in a painful August.
