Mark Sanchez: I love the Patriots, I love Tom Brady

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said this week that he hates the Jets, while Jets coach Rex Ryan said he hates the Patriots.

Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez is declining to escalate the situation.

Asked if the feeling of hatred was mutual, Sanchez said, “No, I love the Patriots. I love Tom.”

Then Sanchez looked into a TV camera and said, “I love you, Tom.”

Whatever Sanchez thinks of Brady, there’s no doubt that Jets and Patriots fans are happy to see fuel added to the rivalry. And Sanchez knows that every Jets-Patriots game is a big game.

“[Brady’s comment] doesn’t matter,” Sanchez said. “It’s neither here nor there. We respect the heck out of them. I think he’s a great quarterback, it’s a great franchise, and we need to bring our best when we play them — every time.”

The next time the Jets and Patriots meet is September 19 at New Meadowlands Stadium. Get your popcorn ready.

This will be a dream game! Both defenses will take cheap shots and knock the other team’s QB out for the year! Then they can sit on the sidelines and we won’t have to hear from either one of em.

  2. Cro-Mags says: Aug 25, 2010 8:36 AM

Sanchez has no right to talk smack anyway. You can’t trash talk when you lead the league in INTs.

  3. Bill.Polian says: Aug 25, 2010 8:39 AM

Sanchez is the worst starting QB in the league.

  4. overkil2 says: Aug 25, 2010 8:40 AM

  5. FoF says: Aug 25, 2010 8:42 AM

This is one guy who just doesn’t get it. I am not sure why all these people think Sanchez is going to be a star. The Jets won in spite of him last year. Sanchez was just plain horrible. Very inconsistent player. He will not be the Jets starter by the end of next season. They will stick it out with him this year, give him another shot at the beginning of next, before pulling him mid season.
You heard it here first folks.

  6. MagicMan407 says: Aug 25, 2010 8:43 AM

I knew Sanchez was a little homo-ish I guess. Heck sometimes its hard for another guy to not love a “Tom Brady”. I am sure it is just Sanchez trying to be Mr camera time. If you have watched Hard Knocks on HBO you know what I am talking about. The guy is one sarcastic, attention wanting, camera loving guy. He likely deep down hates the Patriots and Tom Brady just like the rest of the normal world! Kind of like how everyone hates Sanchez and the Jets.

everybody knows Mark is a “warm brother”
that was why he hoped to get picked by the Rams, so he can get sacked 10 times a game…
that being said…after this season, the Jets with their player personal strategy and 300 free agents… might be worst than the Rams.
there is hope Mark, happy Christopher Street Day

Aww, the two were made for each other. Brady loves South American models and Sanchez can finally find someone who he isn’t truly embarrassed of.

Dolphins fan here. I hate both these teams. But I’m just curious, is it really considered a rivalry when one team has three rings in the last decade and the other has, well, uhhh, nothing in the last three and a half decades? And with all due respect to sanchize, you’re lying when you say “we respect the heck out of them.” Come on Mark, you’re a puppet for your coach. You actually think you’re a good qb just like he does. He says jump, you say “how high?” He says run, you say “how fast?” He says throw a td you throw a pick. Oh wait, maybe you’re not a puppet. My bad.

  17. FDupTruth says: Aug 25, 2010 9:09 AM

Well played, Sanchez. What does everyone expect him to say? Of course he hates NE and Brady, everyone does…besides NE and Brady fans. Their mutual hatred is obvious and what is being reported is common knowledge. Rex and “The Hoodie” are tools that everyone is sick of hearing from, so the next stop is the QBs. Jets hate Pats, Yanks hate BoSox, O’Reilley hates Olbermann…and all is right with the world.

How do you have the best run game, best O-line and best defense in the league and put up the kind of numbers he did last year. Defenses have to put 8 guys in the box and bite on every play action fake and this loser still can’t produce. I don’t even know how its possible to be as pathetic as he is. Joey Harrington would league the NFL in QB rating if he was quarterbacking the Jets.

No its not a rivalry its a hatred. Not only have the Jets won nothing in a long long time, the Pats have beaten them something like 19 of the last 20 games they’ve played each other.
And that one victory was last year in the Jets week 2 Super Bowl LOL.

So that’s coming from a Dolphin fan, whose team also hasn’t won a ring in over 35 years, and whose leading QB’s over the past 7 years are:
    2003 Jay Fielder
    2004 AJ Feeley
    2005 Gus Frerotte
    2006 Joey Harrington
    2007 Cleo Lemon!
    2008 Chad Pennington
    2009 Chad Henne
almost forgot about Cleo! So let’s talk about puppets or better yet, the rotating “clowns” at the QB position in Miami. If everyone was quick to kill a QB after their rookie season, Peyton Manning and Troy Aikman would be as popular as Cleo Lemon.

Sorry Buffalo but if you asked most fans who your present coach is now the answer would be a blank stare. There is more written about this useless banter between the Patriots and the rats than the actual preseason games. Maybe the league is correct in their want to expand to 18 games.

honestly, i dont mind Sanchez, dont like Ryan’s attitude though. When he lost to Miami, he didnt say, i got beat by a good team, he said, he lost to a gimmick or we outplayed them except on special teams, when you lose, you get outplayed, special teams or wildcat or not.
(No, the worse is sitting in the state of florida. Same division though)
No, no. It’s Buffalo. Chad Henne played very well last year with nothing on his team and i loved how he played vs. the Jets in his first start. Mark Sanchez is ok, he will improve though. and of course Brady is who those guys want to be.

There is no disputing that. My team, the Fins, haven’t won anything either. But they don’t make headlines by guaranteeing wins or talking trash about other teams. You want to talk about pathetic….that’s pathetic.
Who do you root for given that you’re not a Jets, Pats or Fins fan but you are chiming in on a Jets post. Kinda what you’re accusing us Fin fans of doing.

  67. PurpleEagle says: Aug 25, 2010 12:04 PM

Brady12. I’ll argue with that post. Trent Edwards is a better QB than Sanchez.
Sanchez showed absolutely nothing lat year to warrant him being considered a good QB. Now he may end up being the next Montana. No one knows. The only thing we know for sure RIGHT NOW is that he threw 20 picks and 12 TDs last year, had a horrible QB ranking and the coaches limited his throws and relied on the RBs and Defense to win the games.
Like I said, the guy can end up being great, but going by the only thing that is sure right now, he sucks.

Just to be clear, Rex isn’t guaranteeing a super bowl. He said that is his goal, and the goal of the team and organization.
I know 31 other coaches say and feel the same, only difference is they say it behind closed doors, and Rex doesn’t keep any secrets from anyone.
Jet players are basically drinking the cool aid, their feeling is “hey Rex is our coach and we’ll follow him into battle.” And yeah, Sanchez is saying “it’s my team” because Shotty told him to, and yeah it is his team now.
As a Jet fan for 30 yrs., and having played second fiddle to Giants and Patriots seemingly forever, it is refreshing to see confidence come out of an organization that sorely needs some. Question is can the Jets back it all up this year, we’ll find out soon enough.

One playoff game you all talk about?? Tom Brady is easily top 3 clutch quarterbacks all time and if you think that choke artist manning is clutch then you surely are a prisoner of the moment and cant remember anything beyond three years.
Go ahead and adore that regular season hero manning and bring up spygate bs if it makes you feel better inside about the downyears for your franchise.
    P.S.
The Jets aren’t even the 2nd best team in the AFC east. I’m much more concerned about the dolphins then I am about a lousy overrated team with a self-proclaimed hall of fame coach like Rex Ryan. The pats might not be a lock for the superbowl but they are surely a better team than the Jets.

This has been priceless. Sanchez had a laugh at a stupid exchange of words between Rex n’ Tom, and Patsie fans are insecure enough to see it as disrespect. Can’t have a Jet win a verbal sparring against a Pat laws NO.
    “Yeah? Well…SANCHEZ IS A HOMO!!!”
    P*Thetic tools.

    @ jcjets
There’s no need to hate the Pats anymore, they suck again!
Anyone see how the Ravens manhandled the Patriots in the playoffs last year?

I saw the way the Colts manhandled the jets in the playoffs. 30-17 or 33-14, not much difference there.
But the Pats didn’t back into the playoffs on some lame tie-breaker. Neither did they receive gifts from the Colts resting their starters or the Chargers missing a few FGs in the playoffs.
They won the Division crown. What crown did the jets win? The we got the fattest coach with the biggest yap crown?

Most of his INT’s happened in two games. How was he the rest of the season. How did the Pat’s do in the AFC Championship game last year? How many teams were playing that weekend? I wouldn’t say that the Colts manhandled the Jets. Yeah, the final score looks like it, but this was a classic example of the game being A LOT closer than the score. The Colts had to play their ass off when the Jets were actually manhandling them.
