Nnamdi Asomugha will be cut by the Raiders after this season – they will not continue to pay him this kind of money….
5 years and 50-60 million is the right range for Revis – they can pretty that up and make it look bigger by calling it a 10 year deal and putting some absurd back end numbers on it…

I cannot believe that with 11 guys on a defense, you would spend that much money on one guy. Where is the sense in that? It isn’t as if the guy is a QB, who touches the football on every offensive play and pretty much determines if you win or lose…
Revis cannot be all over the field – and let’s say for sake of argument, he’s ‘the best’ in the league and would shut down whichever WR he lines up against.
Is that the only player that the QB would throw to? If you tie up so much money in one guy and as a result you have to go bargain basement on others…teams will just find the weak link and go that way; be it the run, another WR, the TE.
You have to be strong all over and when you steal from Peter to pay Paul…

It’s Day 24 of the Darrelle Revis holdout from the New York Jets, and the light at the end of the tunnel appears to be getting brighter.
Bob Pompeani of KDKA in Pittsburgh tweeted early Wednesday morning that “getting closer to accepting a record deal from Jets.”
It could be a 10-year, $150 million dollar deal, with $65 million guaranteed

If this deal goes down, it will come back to haunt the Jets. Revis is way overrated. He will get his ass burnt this year. Dude has one great year and he wants this money? Nnamdi Asomugha of the Raiders is heads and tails above Revis!! Asomugha is a better all around DB. What a waste of money the Jets are going to spend on this idiot!!!

This shouldnt even need a discussion. If there was a rookie cap we wouldnt have to worry about money and everyone would play to full potential for more money. Kyle Wilson drafted by the Jets gets more money than Revis w.o. even playing a professional regular season game. Such a joke when the guy is the best cover corner in the game. Hands down!

You should only stand by something unequivocally if you were there hanging out with Revis and his agent and have first hand information (with your own eyes) that they didn’t meet the jets.
Otherwise you’re just blowing smoke. Someone you trust may have told you the meeting didn’t happen, but unless you were there, you really are just taking someone’s word for it.

Can we get away from blaming the Jets for some of the hoopla at this point? In essence this is the third PFT post saying the same thing, I can’t believe you did not shoe horn another self pat on the back on the Mangold story here (which you did not break until after Colishaw’s tweet anyway). You will be looking to get a rib removed if you break another piece of news.
Despite all the original conspiracy theories on the “media blackout” related to this contract negotiation (remember those you tried to stick to the wall?), it seems like both sides are in fact staying mum on things.

No deal has been reached and no meeting will happen until Revis finishes reading (or having someone read to him) Mangold’s contract.
