The Packers showed off some offensive firepower in a 59-24 win over the Colts.
Packers P Tim Masthay, rookie S Morgan Burnett, rookie LB Frank Zombo and rookie CB Sam Shields were among the players who improved their chances of making the roster.
Coach Mike McCarthy was troubled by his team’s fumbles: “I thought the offense was productive, but . . . we didn’t do a very good job taking care of the ball. We had the ball on the ground way too many times. So we need to eliminate that from our play.”
Packers QB Aaron Rodgers is 41-of-53 for 470 yards and six touchdowns with no interceptions this preseason.
Colts QB Peyton Manning exposed some of the holes in the Packers’ first-string secondary.
The Colts have now given up 130 points in their three preseason losses.
Colts RB Joseph Addai left the game with what was reported as a concussion, but he downplayed it: “Really, they didn’t do any tests, they didn’t need to,” Addai said. “I was fine. If I needed to go back in, I could’ve.”
Colts rookie return man Brandon James muffed a punt and handed the Packers a touchdown.
The Colts aren’t protecting the fragile body of S Bob Sanders, who was on the field for about 45 snaps.
Rookie LB Pat Angerer led the Colts with 10 tackles.

i dont think you need to worry about anyone making a serious case for the packers play translating to the regular season. have you ever looked at the colts record in the pre-season. it obviously means nothing. its a good sign when a dress rehersal goes this well, but both teams had a number of players resting.
also, if you remember that wild card game, the packer’s offense played amazing and went punch for punch with kurt warner and company. the defense, which also struggled last night, was the packer’s achilles heel. so if you dont think that the packers potent offense and shotty defense are going to translate to the regular season, you would be wrong.

Yes, Packer fans remember last years WC card game…it was brutal…but you see, our QB has been in camp working on ironing the kinks out and preparing for this season…I know on some teams it’s acceptable to skip camp and do whatever you want. Perhaps the little extra practice would help in mistakes like fumbling hand offs to overrated fumbling RB’s and throwing crucial cross-body picks.

It was a great game. Our rookies produced and made strong cases for regular season playing time. Rodgers is a surgeon with that football and has a lot of weapons this year.
Our rookie safety picked off Manning once (almost twice) and looked solid in run support. Rookie CB Sam Shields turned in a solid performance as well, w/ several passes defended, good ST gunning, and a late INT. A few times he was out of position, but very good game from the undrafted rookie.
AR had all day to throw, and even w/ Jennings out, James Jones and Jordy Nelson stepped up and showed the depth of our WR core.
You can’t stop Finely. You just can’t. Please some Viking fan tell me how you will cover this guy, b/c unless it’s a double team, you just can’t do it.
Saw a lot of improvement on our ST, and from our pass rush. Raji and Neal were getting great push up the middle and they were chasing Manning around, making his get rid of the ball. Colts couldn’t run the ball (aside from 1st play) to save their lives. Stuffed for a loss on nearly every run.
We don’t need to remember last year RCIV. We know the Vikings fans are stuck there b/c they are screwed atm, but we are looking ahead turd, not to last year, cuz well, it was last year and doesn’t matter anymore my lil blond wig wearing, Favre ball sucking friend. Show dem horns chump.

But a game like this is a good confidence builder under-the-lights for the new guys…players who hopefully can contribute when needed. The second and third stringers thoroughly outplayed the Colts same and that bodes well under any scenario.

The Pack looked great last night. Very good play by the QBs, RBs, O-line, WRs and TEs. Rodgers and Finley are going to be a killer combo. Not much out of the D-line though, and Tramon Williams just sucks. It looks like the offense will have no problem overcoming a questionable secondary. While this pre-season seems eerily similar to last pre-season’s Packer success, as hard as it is to admit, the Pack may very well overcome my Vikes to win the NFCN. Man that frigging hurt to write.
The D is always going to be question and concern with the Packers, and will continue to be until they can string together a few solid performances in the regular season. That being said, I thought they stepped up and played fairly solidly against Manning and the first team offense of the Colts after that disastrous first drive. They are not there yet, but there are some positives to build on.

To all the trolls, game was preseason, and I don’t expect the pack to have this kind of success in a regular season game. But, it does make me optimistic about the coming season. Unlike how Dallas fans must be feeling right now.
This win was impressive (regardless what some idjits think), I think the offense is as good as any in the league. The Defense had it’s issues, but I think when we get out starters playing again things will definitely change and we’ll have a nice pass rush going. Secondary should be improved this year as well.
Even out 2nd team guys were getting some pressure on Manning when they did blitz. Mostly what I saw as nickle packages all night with a 3 man pass rush. Even Justin Harrell was out there believe it or not.
