Ndamukong Suh can expect to pay a fine this week

If Lions rookie defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was going to get fined and penalized, we give him credit for getting his money’s worth.

Suh was called for a personal foul in the second quarter of Saturday night’s game, but he could have been called for the penalty three times during the play.

After Jake Delhomme let go of a pass, Suh grabbed Delhomme’s facemask and yanked it.  Then he wrapped his arms around Delhomme’s head.  For good measure, he then tossed Delhomme to the ground like a rag doll.

In one play Suh did everything that the league is trying to protect quarterbacks from.  Honestly, it was sort of awesome.

    Just hunting quarterbacks. That’s all.

    Gregg,
If you lionize this behavior, then you could be part of the problem — particularly considering the breadth of your influence on this site.
( my apology for the pun…)

Yeah, it looked pretty dangerous. Im all for safetey, but hey, he showed on that play that hes not afraid to mess a guy up. I like that kind of nastiness.

Stafford & Best looked good(almost great!) …so did all the WRs&TEs for the Lions …Defense need more tackles and less flags…

This dude is a freak! Barring injury…he should wreck havoc on QBs for years. Chuck and Duck boys…Chuck and Duck!

Since when did purposely trying to injured a QB’s head become awesome?
Next time dont be fake and say “Player X has our prayers” when he’s taken off on a backboard- say it was an awesome hit.

And Delhomme still marched up and down the field and scored at will. I bet Carolina is regretting making a knee jerk reaction to one crappy season. Jake looks solid, even against Green Bay’s first defense.

Somewhere, Deacon Jones is smiling like the cat who swallowed the canary – or the defensive lineman who headslapped the offensive lineman on his way to put the qb in a sack and beat him.

It was awesome and Delhomme looked like the little kid getting picked on getting up crying about playing football and being thrown down. Maybe Suh wouldnt have been so pissed if he could get a couple holding penalties called

A Brown being manhandled, does your heart good doesnt it Florio.

yeah right, Panther fans are happy that Matt Moore is the starter and i like Jimmy Clausen. Delhomme has been doing well yes, BUT let’s wait till the season starts to say the Panthers are missing him.

Yeah it was WAY over the top, the only thing it was lacking was Suh dropping an elbow on him after.

the term, like a rag doll comes to mind

Would you have said it was awesome if it was that whiny crybaby Peyton Manning who can’t even stand a slight disruption to his precious no huddle (you know, the no huddle that every other QB in the NFL including JD has run just fine so far with the new rules without whining)?
Jake popped right up and got all fierce about it, how can you not love that? His teammates sure did.

Suh is a beast. gotta love him!!!

  19. faulkn22 says: Aug 29, 2010 7:36 AM

What I especially love is how there are no Browns lineman dumb enough to try and stick up for Delhomme. Suh could easily take two at a time and make them look like rag dolls, too.

  20. joepetro66 says: Aug 29, 2010 2:29 PM

If you see Suh’s “hit” on Delhomme, you’ll see it wasn’t a “hit” at all–it was a rookie temper tantrum from a so-called “beast” who was kept in check all night by a just-off-the injury-list journeyman RT (Pashos) and third-round draft pick rookie RG (Lauvao). Suh’s line for the night against what everyone is predicting will be (at best) a pedestrian Cleveland offense: 2 tackles, 1 batted pass, and a 15 yd penalty that netted the Browns #1′s a TD. Don’t cast that HoF bronze just yet! LOL

Man, you guys are really stroking this rookie for this dirty play? it wasnt’ a hard hit, he twisted his neck around and it was dangerous. Honestly, that’s the only time i noticed Suh all night. The Browns had no trouble with him whatsoever. So keep saying what a beast he is as Detroit gives up 30 a game.

“In one play Suh did everything that the league is trying to protect quarterbacks from. Honestly, it was sort of awesome.”
Huh? You’re an idiot. If Suh had ripped Tom Brady or Peyton Manning down by their head after the ball was gone the league would unquestionably suspend him. I think this should be a hard hitting league but that was WWE bullsh*t. Not football. The fact that Suh is a rookie does not matter, ANYONE who has played ANY level of organized football should know better. Violence that is capable of ending someone’s career is never defensible and Suh should know better. Honestly I can’t believe I’m reading this crap on PFT.
Sidenote: This was really the only memorable thing Suh did all game, good job Lions on turning a pick I was hopeful about into a 15 yard / touchdown liability. It’s going to be another long season.

  23. cornhuskers says: Aug 30, 2010 3:01 PM

Everyone on that says he had no stats must not watch the whole defesive line. Suh makes everyone batter! By taking on the double teams all game he allows the DE’s to be one on one the whole game! And stiff for double teamed on that play he was still in the qb’s face. take it he grabbed the facemask but he was still in the right place for getting double teamed! I think you guys need to go back and see just how he helps the whole d-line even with no stats!

  24. whatisaid says: Aug 30, 2010 5:05 PM

Yeah you need to pull the intangibles card because if you look at actual stats, Suh actually makes the Browns better by converting for them on third down and keeping the drive alive for a touchdown. Could have been a field goal but that’s +4 points Suh made possible. But I guess since he’s providing all those intangibles, silly things like preventing touchdowns are unimportant.
