Redskins coach Mike Shanahan praised his defense after the 16-11 win over the Jets.
Rex Grossman started at quarterback for the Redskins in place of the injured Donovan McNabb and went 8 for 16 for 111 yards with no interceptions.
Said Jets coach Rex Ryan of the injury to LB Calvin Pace, “It’s a big loss, but we’re fortunate we have a lot of depth at that position. Jason Taylor’s role is going to change from 75 percent [of the snaps] to 100 percent until Calvin comes back.”
Said Taylor, “It’s awful for Calvin and it’s awful for the team, but that’s why you have guys who play multiple positions and why you make sure you build your team with a lot of depth. Things happen every week in this league.”
Is it time for Jets fans to be concerned about QB Mark Sanchez?
“It’s always good to win, so I feel like we did good on that aspect,” Redskins WR Santana Moss said. “We did some good things and we probably have a lot of stuff we have to improve on, but that is why we play preseason, so that we can see these things and go and try to tune them up before Week One comes.”
Redskins RB Willie Parker struggled, with just 16 yards on eight carries.
Redskins WR Devin Thomas didn’t play at all on offense, but he’s expected to play plenty in the final preseason game next week.
Jets RB LaDainian Tomlinson looked young again, leading the team with 11 carries for 86 yards.
After the game, Tomlinson said that the Jets’ offensive line is “absolutely” the best he’s ever played with.
Mark Sanchez lovers can easily blame the receivers for a lot of the misses, but I am not believing the hype at this point. That goes double for the views that the Jets are SB contenders…a lot to prove.
It looks like the Jets will be playing in a lot of 13-10, 12-9 kind of games this year.
Willie Parker will not make the team.
Devin Thomas has one more week to make the team.

That’s pretty damn impressive. I’m more interested to see what happens in December when Jelly Rex doesn’t play him in the situations he believes he should be played in. I’m betting that he heads to the bench for a good sulk with his head covered. At that point, hes checked out.
Although, by December the Jets should be a good 4-6 games behind the division leader…
Not bashing, cause I like the kid, but QB will be the Jets downfall. They play hard though. Hail!
Watchin this game was like watching 2 kids fight-they could have gone at it all day and nobody ever would have won !

The Jets were a borderline fluke last year and just because Rex Ryan says so and they have a cable special does not make them superbowl contenders.
Willie Parker is worse than Larry Johnson.
