The “Blitz Brett” strategy seems to be picking up more and more momentum, especially as it generates more and more success.
The Seahawks are the latest defense to send extra bodies to confuse and confound the Vikings quarterback. So far, Favre has fumbled twice (one was recovered by Minnesota), and he has been hurried on several other plays.
But the biggest turnover wasn’t Favre’s fault. On a quick slant route, receiver Bernard Berrian bobbled a perfect pass, and Seahawks safety Earl Thomas snagged it and exploded 86 yards to the end zone.
Favre started with eight completions in 12 attempts, spreading the ball to Adrian Peterson (two for 36), Greg Camarillo (two for 34), Percy Harvin (two for 30), and Visanthe Shiancoe (two for 13).
On the first drive after the 86-yard pick six, a long return from Darius Reynaud set up a two-play drive that consisted of two Adrian Peterson runs. One for a one-yard loss, and one for a 24-yard score.
The game currently is tied at seven, early in the second quarter.
I hope Seattle asked Chilly if the way they were blitzing and hitting Favre were the “right way” or not.
Good to see Camarillo being used so soon. I know he’s not a rookie, but he still hasn’t been with the team long.
Btwice looks terrible! Blocking and receiving.
WHo cares about Farve look at the Cowboys LOLOLOL, Superbowl????
Favre has seen every blitz in the book. The problem is the line and receivers right now. Sadly those two problems are not immediately fixable. Camarillo is a start, but they need rice to grab hurried throws.
So, shouldn’t the headline be “Berrian betrays Favre” instead of what it is ???
Oh wait, that doesn’t fit the Florio agenda.
Never mind.
Favre is a piece of dog shit.
He’s just out there having fun, being a kid.
Damn cheaters trying to hit Brett Favre. You don’t try to tackle a living legend! Just let him be back there. He’s old for heaven sakes! Every player that tries to hit Brett Favre should be fined a years salary and suspended for half the season!!!! Right Vikings fans?

The Packers’ point total vs. the defending AFC champs is higher than Favre’s passer rating!
Not looking good Viking fans. Your offensive flaws are becoming more and more evident. Sorry but your expectations of a cakewalk through the NFC aren’t looking too bright these days.

If you people hate Favre so much, why do you keep commenting on his stories? I still have yet to have this question answered.

Guess it could be worse. . .we could be fans of a team that everyone thinks is something special because they put up 59 points against a team that hasn’t given a damn about the pre-season for over a decade.
Of course, that would make us complete morons.
So far in the preseason week 3, favre and cutler have combined for 4 ints while Rodgers and Stafford have none. I think this is a harbinger of what will happen this season.

throwing in the towel already?
If teams are really going to blitz Favre like that, Im seeing huge years for AD and Shiancoe. With 6 or 7 guys consistently rushing, it’s only a matter of time before Bevell starts incorporating safety routes, which would include dumpoffs to AD and Shianc.
If AD can become a consistent receiver, he will easily eclipse 2000 all purpose yards this season, kind of like a faster, stronger Marshall Faulk. Hope he ironed out his ball control issues this off season, he’s gonna be a horse.
Favre is done, he should of hung it up, sorry Viking fans but you guys are in for a long season. Don’t you agree after watching Favre stink it up.
What was the Colts preseason record for the last few years…….something like 9-21? It is horrible.
UPDATE: As of today they are 9-23 since 2004.
Regular season they have won 12 or more games in 7 years straight (I think).
UPDATE: I was correct! Also in that 7 years they have won 6 AFC South titles and played in 2 Super Bowls.
I am happy the Packers could put up 59 points just from an entertaining game standpoint but no one wins trophies in the preseason.
Come on September 9th!
Favre in post-season form!

I know you WI idiots like your drink, but easy up a little bit. You’re not driving tonight are you? Idiot.
2006 I thought Favre was washed up. 2007 he was in the NFC Championship game.
2008 he finished out of the playoffs with the Jets, announced he had a bad biceps (part of that rocket arm) and I again thought he was washed up. The next year he crushed the Packers, got to the playoffs and was again in the NFC Championship game.
I’ll never count him out. Yeah he’s old. Yeah he can’t make up his mind. Damn, he good, though. I loved that he was on ‘my team’ and now still like him except when he plays against ‘my team’.
What an intelligent joke Mr. Humble. Seriously, did that take over 30 seconds to think up? Yikes. Bet you’ve got them slapping their knees at the watercoolers over that one.

That’s funny. I didn’t know Fran Tarkenton/Alan Page played QB for us right now.
So Viking fans keep saying that the 59 points the Packers scored don’t matter because it is pre-season and the Colts don’t care about pre-season. I’m sure that if the Vikings had scored the 59 points they would not be saying that.
LMAO its pre season!!! Who gives a shyt. get back to me when favres punting balls into Dlinemen at his own goaline
I wonder how Detroit and Chitown are doing, because with this stink finger bowl vike team, they’ll be lucky if they don’t get the 1st overall pick. Allen has no sacks? They pulled a fan out of the stands to block him!
Favre’s arm is shot!! Only throw he can make is the slant, you see that duck he threw up to Beriman that got picked, just threw it up for grabs.
Reminded me of that duck he threw up against the Eagles in O.T. playoff loss, or like the one last year against the ….. BAWABAWAWAWAWAWAW!!
One offensive TD allowed in 3 games so far. 50 rushing yards allowed per game. Defense looks rock solid. Once Favre shakes off the rust, these guys should pick right back up where they left off, dominating the NFC North.

Not true, some quarterbacks are actually better when they’re blitzed because they’re quick at picking out the weak spots that defensive players have vacated like Drew Brees:
from http://profootball.scout.com/2/932036.html
The Best Versus The Blitz
1. Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints): His 71-percent completion rate and 10.24 passing yards per attempt surpass his numbers in non-blitz situations (68.9 percent and 8.2 yards). With seven touchdown passes, just three interceptions and ten sacks versus the blitz, defensive coordinators have noticed it doesn’t pay to take defenders out of pass coverage to apply pressure. As a result, he’s only had to throw 107 passes against a blitz, tenth-lowest out of the 34 quarterbacks.
2. Peyton Manning (Indianapolis Colts): Opponents also know it’s tough to rattle Manning, so his 133 attempts versus the blitz is near the middle of the pack (16th). His completion rate is virtually even whether facing a blitz or not, but he makes opponents pay with 9.01 yards per attempt–significantly higher than his 7.56 without that pressure. With ten touchdown passes, four interceptions and just five sacks, the blitz isn’t a significant factor in deterring him from keeping his offense moving.
3. Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers): Oddly enough, although he’s been sacked 49 times this year, just 18 have occurred while being blitzed. Rodgers has been victimized by coverage sacks much more frequently than by an unexpected pass rush. His completion rate is nearly six points higher and his yards per attempt jumps from 7.44 to 9.23. Despite the improved production under the gun, he’s thrown the ninth-most passes against the blitz this year. Defensive coordinators should wake up.
4. Donovan McNabb (Philadelphia Eagles): His completion rate drops two percent against the blitz, but he’s still hitting 59.1 percent in those situations. And although he’s been sacked fourteen times, he’s only thrown two interceptions this season when the pressure’s on. McNabb is averaging 8.83 yards per attempt versus just 7.84 against a standard pass rush.
5. Philip Rivers (San Diego Chargers): Half of the 24 times that Rivers has hit the turf, it’s been due to a blitz. And his completion percentage drops from 69.6 to 59.6 when opponents try to overwhelm him. But his league-best 14 touchdown passes under pressure is higher than his total when he’s facing a traditional pass rush (11), and his average gain per pass versus the blitz is one of the best in the league at 9.20 yards. So there’s a high level of risk for defensive coordinators in pursuing the reward.
You should get an odometer on this,Favre is donking it up, he all ready has more INTs in just over a half of game time than Rodgers has all preseason. Its called ball security Minnesota, and it looks like it could be a problem for you.
LOL Vikings suck.
i am not particularly concerned about either of these turnovers as far as brett is concerned. the first one he should have tucked the ball but the bigger concern is still our oline. the second one he put it right on berrian’s numbers and he basically hucked it at earl thomas who, admittedly, made a good play. berrian should be stepping up and what he did instead is miss one catch that should have been a first down and cause a defensive TD.
Took a chance on Berrian as a fantasy sleeper with memories of how he played for the Bears.
Shouldn’t have drank so much while drafting.
So, the real question is who the pre-season Super Bowl champion is???
How quickly we forget in a year.

BRETT ALSO BAD PROTECTION.
__________________________
Yeah thats part of the game, Rodgers didn’t have great protection last year,
Viking fans whine like a girl getting her first period.
Minn. has to play alot of playoff teams from last season in the first 10 weeks and its quite obvious that is doesn’t take Favre to much to get ansty and start “freestyling” it. So it very easily could be a rocky start to the season, it will be interesting to see if they dig themselves into a hole, and if its too big for them to get out of.
it’s like mayock said about brett, “he’s like a kid in the backyard”, and it’s so true – he’s just like a little kid having fun, jumping around and playing.
pcker fans are always coming up to me to ask “gravy, will aaron rodgers ever develop that zest for life and charisma on the football field that brett has or will he always just be a dull, .500ish journeyman destined to spend his life in brett’s shadow???” and i always answer “.500ish shadow, probably yes, but if you ever need your house decorated, aaron is your man.”
with a poor blocking back Brett Farve is going to be so skitish in the backfield it will be hilarious. Vikings won’t make the playoffs.
Hope you enjoyed last year. You may have beaten the Packers 2x but Brett Farve threw the worst pass in the history of the NFL playoffs and you were a collective fan base of losers again.
SKOLL LA!!!!!
Vikings fail to win preseason for the third season in a row. What chumps.
This is ridiculous. The first interception was 100% on Bernard Berrian – who needs to step up his game. NOW.
The second one was to see if Camarillo could be used to stretch the field. Favre also indicated that he may have misjudged Greg’s speed. FYI – it’s their FIRST game playing together.
Favre looked great hitting Percy and Shank and Greg Lewis as well. Screen to Adrian was fantastic and I’m really liking this Camarillo guy! I do believe we got the steal of the century on that. Hopefully Favre can help that guy become a premier receiver like he did with Sidney – although their utilization will be different.
Jury out on Javon Walker – he missed a couple early that he should have had – although I think Brett was trying to force that. Hell of a catch off Sage in the end zone though.
I’ll just say this again: the way PFT sensationalizes EVERY single Favre post is assinine. Let’s be real – it was one legit INT and the other was a classic Berrian “air fumble” as I like to call ‘em. Change the sport to baseball and Berrian’s got the E by his name.
It’s obvious that Favre has lost a step mentally as he didn’t really want to come back but he’s doing it for the team. He should’ve just gone out on top with that Tracy Porter interception that lost the game and the season for the entire state of Minnesota. He doesn’t know how to stop while he’s ahead. Now he’ll be retiring with a mechanical ankle and probably receive at least one concussion during the season.
Poor vikings fans, first Tracy Porter, then the vikings fans showing their putrid faces to the world as the universe’s biggest bitter whiny sore losers, then Favre pulling their chains, and now another year without a superbowl appearance, much less a win.
and now we have your top 5 viking excuses….
1.We all know It was the refs who did it. Those damn illuminati have infected the nfl officials, Goodell is in on it too. He’s working with the aliens who blew up the levees in New Orleans to flood the city so that the NFL could award that city a superbowl win some 4 years after the disaster. Quick, hide the protective tin foil hats before they find out we’re on to them!
There’s gonna be consequences ya see!!
2.Why must they persecute our messiah? He is simply a messenger of love and peace. He is a divine football god, part man, part drama queen. They’re just all jealous that we finally can have our seasons ended by a world shattering crushing interception at the most crucial point of any game in history for the franchise.
3.They don’t like fat people, and since Minnesota boasts some real “viking women” complete with full body hair and reluctance to use deoderant, they’re being discriminatory. They’re probably IslamoHomoRomophobic too.
4. The NFL didn’t go to an 18 game season soon enough. If they would’ve enacted that rule this year then the vikings would’ve had at least two more chances to be a .500 team, and once you get in the playoffs you never know what will happen! (besides Favre throwing a pick I mean)
5. Prince Childress didn’t kiss Favre’s ass quite enough, we need a bigger ass kisser in here. Can we get a bigger ass kisser for Favre please? Let’s get that Joy Behar, Katie Couric, or any reporter who covered the 2008 presidential campaign in here and treat Favre like he’s Obama, that should keep him happy.
Congrats to Ted Thompson and Erin fans for all of your pre-season trophies!
What a misleading headline and storyline.
I didn’t see the Vikings game live. I watched it on NFL network on the replay at 11:00pm est after reading this item posted by Florio. I was expecting to see a bad game.
Favre look good. I saw saw one pass to the new receiver Carm..#? and Favre’s throw was dead on with 3 defenders surrounding Carm..#?.
The “fumble” by Favre was recovered by a Viking, but it wasn’t a fumble because a penalty negated the play due to a defensive hold. So now an official play of holding is ignored and Favre is credited by Florio with a fumble?
The Vikings responded to the Seattle touchdown with a huge kickoff return and an AP touchdown about 2 or 3 minutes later.
And this was bad?
The Vikings looked good. Favre look good with little or no practice. Why must you write or rumor fiction?
The Vikings will win the NFC North hands down and easily.
Yes, you can tell that the viking fans are nervous about the season, they won’t admit it but deep in their guts they are truly worried. Favre has lost it, the speed of the game past him, his age has caught up to him. Oh and a good receiver might help! Bet you wish you had a Greg Jennings.
grandpa favre better get used to it lol! long season for viqueens. now we see why the pack moved on. the cowgirls have to go threw green bay lol! we’ll be in big D come feb. and romo will be home!!!
It’s preseason. Nothing to get overly concerned about.
Packers stomped the Colts. Colts are like 4-16 or something in preseason the last few years. But they always end the season as a SB contender.
However, the defenses to appear to be getting through the viking line. That is something Chilly and company ought to be a little worried about.
What a bunch of cheats. How dare they blitz “The Favre”.
Under the circumstances, I thought Brett looked and the Vikings looked good for the amount of time they had together. Preseason is just that and in case you have forgotten, I believe the Colts have the worse preseason record in recent years, and we know how that has turned out. Rice may well regret delaying his surgery since Camarillo looked great and Walker/Favre just need more time to connect. I do believe this will be a running year, but that is all right too. AP will be back on top. I’m only worried about Berrian; he should have caught that pass.
Gotta love Viking fans posting frantically about the Packers on a post about their own team! How about commenting about the article instead of your same hateful rhetoric about the fine citizens of Wisconsin?
Don’t make too big a deal out of the INT’s. Favre is gonna throw them, that’s what you get with his high risk, high reward play style. Anyone who is surprised by this obviously has been locked in a basement for the last 20 years.
It all comes down to the line. With Favre or Rodgers, give them time, and they’ll make a great throw to a covered WR, or find someone open. It’s all a matter of protection. As much as I dislike the Vikings, I don’t wanna see Brett’s career end on a stretcher. So I hope the Vikings Oline can get it together.
Apparently the writer of this article can’t count. Favre threw two picks and lost a fumble yesterday. That makes three turnovers.

It was two picks, not one. Stats don’t lie. The same goes for a 2-yard swing pass that turns into a 40-yard gain. The stats say 40-yard pass completion.
You have to live with them all.
I don’t think anyone truly thinks that Fredo will put up the same numbers as his “Magical” season last year.
It should be very interesting to watch.
1. The receivers are a big question.
2. The O-line could be considered suspect.
3. AP needs to keep a firm grasp on the ball.
4. Fredo is old and can’t move anymore with that injured ankle.

Seriously, you can’t be this dumb, can you? Allen is overrated? The guy has 44.5 sacks in the last 3 years, 3 safeties, and 11 forced fumbles, despite constant double teams. In what way is he overrated? It’s not his fault he has to dominate GB twice a year, so you can’t discredit him based on schedule. Besides, what genius excuse can you come up with for the 30 sacks he produced the 2 years prior to 2009?
It’s fine not to like a player because he plays for a rival. But don’t be so stupid as to say a clearly great player is overrated just because you don’t like him. Man, what a typical, home Packer fan. Grow up.
Majik:
What was it that I posted would be considered idiotic? Everything that was posted would be considered a fact. I should have included the QB holding onto the ball too long as well when speaking of the sacks Jared got against GB. Sorry.
I was responding to the post of that it really wasn’t an interception and added an example of how a simple swing pass that turns into a 40-yard gain goes into the stat books as a 40-yard completion. What part of that response did you not understand?

Majik Butt and Gravy are F’n morons. The Queens looked very pedestrian last night and it is clear that their pass protection (especially w/o Chester Taylor) is going to kill them.
