After a rough start, Brett Favre had plenty of positives to draw from his performance against the Seahawks on Saturday night. But he continues to think about the large mountain his team has to climb again to repeat his 2009 performance.
“We set the bar pretty high,” Favre said. “We make it
tough on ourselves. That sure is better than flopping. Can we do that
again? I think we can.”
The St. Paul Pioneer Press writes that Favre was moving slowly after the game after playing fewer than 50 plays, although he hoped to play more.
“As tired as I was, I really felt like I needed some more work,” Favre said. “I needed it.”
Favre’s old teammate Javon Walker needs even more work. After a slow start, Walker made a fantastic 25-yard catch late in the game against Seattle’s scrubs. That could help Walker’s uphill climb for a roster spot.
“We really needed to see that,” Brett Favre said about Walker. “If you get half the magic back that you had, you can be pretty good.”
Favre had an uneven performance, as you’d expect less than two weeks after he returned to the team. After the game, he still sounded like he had a mix of trepidation and excitement that’s still ahead.
“I don’t know if I can put any more pressure on
myself than is already there,” Favre said. “I probably put more than I
should, more than I can handle. Especially last year, the better we got,
the harder it got.”
Favre sounds terrified and prepared for a let down after last year. I think after this year’s failure, he’ll say he felt pressured to come back but really didn’t want to. I do not think Favre will have half the season he had last year.
Favre will be a burden and the queens won’t play a post season game this year!
How many teams get to the top and stay there? It is really tough, much more common to see teams up and down depending on strength of schedule and injuries.
Vikes are due for a fall, it won’t be a shock to see them go 7-9 or maybe 9-7 and early playoff exit.

I would love to see favre succeed. But I think a huge disappointment is in the making.
Favre has a built in excuse every time he opens his mouth.
He needs P.R. lessons
Javon Walker used to be fantastic. It will be interesting to see if he can rediscover the old magic.
The Vikings were really feeling the pressure in the 2nd half of the season and it showed, with home field advantage through out the playoffs on the line, they folded to the Panthers and the Bears, two teams that weren’t going anywhere but home.
BrINT also has a large body of work that demostrates how he performs under pressure, its called the playoffs and it isn’t pretty. So if Favre is feeling the pressure already in the pre season, it isn’t too hard to guess how this season is going to unfold.
Que the CryQueens fans ready to offer up irrational excuses, 1, 2, 3………………
lets hope he does not have a good year. can’t go through this again. he is making excuses already.
he looks like he is 60 years old. can’t stand to watch him. and to think at one time he was my main man.
The Vikings are lucky to have Brett Favre. What in god’s name are they gonna do next year?
Regardless of what team you are a fan of, ya gotta give the sliver fox credit. Say what you want about the money, the drama etc. he has plenty of money and will still command drama even after he “finally” retires but there is no denying his passion for the game…..nfl needs more players like the silver fox.
“If you get half the magic back that you had, you can be pretty good.”
I think this quote could easily explain the last 4 years of Favre’s career. No, Brett, “half the magic”and “pretty good” aren’t good enough. Others would call that playing “on fumes” or “former glory.”
There would be way less pressure on Brett if he would have just shown up for training camp, worked his way into shape, and practiced with his team mates.
Look at “Mr. Wrangler” already makin’ excuses for himself. What a clown.
of course he’s worried about matching last year, he set the bar so high (33td’s/7int’s/69%/4200 yards/#2 in qb rating/#3 in mvp voting), but i’m sure he realizes that with all the talent on this team, he doesn’t need to match last year’s #’s.
the defense will be even better than last with ej and winfield healthy, we’re just a different team with those guys, you could see it last night. plus we’ve added cook who looks AMAZING. the phins posters were right about camarillo, he’s an awesome pickup.
and with a healthy hutch and sullivan this season and a year experience for sully and loadholt, the o-line’s run blocking should be better so this season we’ll be back to being more of a run team which will make favre even more deadly on play action. harvin’s got a year’s experience also and i can’t wait to see what he does this year after putting up over 2000 all purpose yards last year.
so excited about this season…
btw, anyone who thinks the vikings will move to l.a. is dreaming just like i’ve been trying to tell you:
“LOS ANGELES — The company behind a plan to lure the NFL back to Los Angeles said Tuesday the Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills are the first teams it will try to relocate according to Majestic Realty Co. managing partner John Semcken.
He said the Jaguars and the Bills are at the top of the list because they play in small markets that tamp down their earning potential and because they have little hope of building larger venues in their home regions.
“Jacksonville and Buffalo are two teams in very, very small markets, he said. “They are teams that have either outdated stadiums or are having trouble filling their stadiums or both.”
The Jaguars have struggled for years to fill Jacksonville Municipal Stadium and had several games blacked out on local TV last season. The Bills, meanwhile, have been playing some home games in Toronto in an effort to expand their market.
Messages were left seeking comment from the Jaguars and Bills.
Jaguars majority owner Wayne Weaver and Bills owner Ralph Wilson have steadfastly dismissed any suggestion they will sell or move their teams.
Semcken said Majestic won’t approach the 49ers, Chargers or Vikings as long as they are seeking stadium plans of their own. He said it would not be fair to interfere with their efforts to remain in their home markets.
Semcken also said Majestic chief executive Ed Roski’s preference is to find owners willing to sell their franchise to a consortium of investors that he would lead, rather than buying a minority stake in a team that would move with its existing majority owner at the helm.”
the l.a. times said basically the same thing except they said that roski said it was the league that told him they can’t have the niners or vikings and they have to go after one of the smaller market teams i.e. jax, buffalo or g.b.
“We set the bar pretty high,” Favre said. “We make it tough on ourselves. That sure is better than flopping. Can we do that again? I think we can.I don’t know if I can put any more pressure on myself than is already there,” Favre said. “I probably put more than I should, more than I can handle. Oh-oh! Brent’s thinking that the vikes are about to stink it up. Here come the excuses-from the “guy just running around out there having fun” himself.
The greatest QB to ever play the game will be just fine thank you.
King Favre embraces the hate.
I think this quote could easily explain the last 4 years of Favre’s career. No, Brett, “half the magic”and “pretty good” aren’t good enough. Others would call that playing “on fumes” or “former glory.”
*******************
lolz, all he’s done the last 4 years is lead his team to the nfc title game twice and finish in the top 3 in mvp voting twice. last year was his best statistical season in his whole career and judging by how well he was moving last night and how great his arm looked after just getting here like 10 days ago, looks like he’s heading for another awesome season although this will be more of a run dominated season backed up by timely passing by brett.
but again, if you call the nfc title game, 2nd in qb rating and 3rd in mvp voting “running on fumes”, i hope he keeps running on fumes.
“There would be way less pressure on Brett if he would have just shown up for training camp, worked his way into shape, and practiced with his team mates.”
he showed up on the same day this year he showed up last year which seems to be a pretty good time to show up based on his 33td/7int/69%/4200 yards etc. season he had.

so excited about this season…
=======================
Your sorry bandwagon ass won’t be anywhere to be seen after the 6th week tops.
If only we could invent a way to harness passive aggressive idiocy and futility for power we could suck the stupid right out of Vajeen fans and power the globe for the next 2 centuries.
The Vikings pass protection looked awful last night. Better clean that up or Brett is going to be an INT machine again.
So favre is pumping javon? TMI!
I’d temper your enthusiasm about the offense a little Gravy, but I have to agree that Winfield on that defense makes a HUGE difference and you seem to have snagged a keeper in Cook, he looked great.
This is turning into a big joke fast!
8-8
Having watched the game last night and coming at this from a neutral perspective, here’s the real truth:
The O-line continues to struggle mightily in the run-blocking department – even without 8-in-the-box. Without Sidney Rice, the deep ball we saw last season is not really an option at this point. I think Favre needs to accept – right now – that he’s gonna have to dink-n-dunk his way to victories. Since he’s not terribly patient in this regard, that will be a tough sell.
The defense is still lights-out -again – in the red zone. They may continue to give up yards, but not a lot of points because they really stiffen down inside the red zone. This means Favre has a bit more margin for error when trying to make things happen, as he’ll have plenty of opportunities due to the defense.
At this point, without Rice, a first round bye is probably not going to happen. If I were the Vikings, I’d have Favre throw like crazy to all these receivers and throw caution to the wind. Once Rice returns, the long ball option is back on the table, and the Vikings can make a run on the back 8, playing their best ball come playoff time – exactly like last season when they demolished Dallas and made New Orleans’ offense appear impotent (250 total yards – that’s sick!!!).
People will need to accept this and relax for the first half of the season. If they can go 4-4 to begin, they can easily go 8-0 to finish – provided Rice is not IR’d.
The Vikes need O Line help, they have to much depth at the D Line. more time for Favre as well as bigger holes for Peteson should be the answer. Also if I were the Vikings I would try backup QB Joe Webb at kick returns, this guy can run, and with Harvin back there as well it I could be lots of fun to watch.
“I think Favre needs to accept – right now – that he’s gonna have to dink-n-dunk his way to victories.”
hauschild, i agree with most things in your post but i think dink-n-dunk is usually what favre does anyway, the pass he’s always thrown best and most in his whole career has been the slant pass. but i do think he’s gonna pass less this season even after sid gets back, with a healthy o-line and 2 1st yr o-linemen having a year of experience under their belt, they should be much better watching especiallyt run blocking. we just haven’t seen them on the field yet this year cuz sullivan is finally healthy but hasn’t had a chacne to pratice yet.
berrian led the league with over 20 yards a catch 2 years ago when he was healthy, and he’s healthy again this year. harvin should be even better in his 2nd year and camarillo looked really good last night. we’ll be fine till we get sid back by week 8.

maybe, drew. you’re right, we’ve got a ton of depth on d-line, i think the starters on the o-line will be much better than last year cuz they’re finally healthy and 2 of them aren’t 1st year starters anymore but i wish we still had hicks or just more depth.
i really like renaud as a kick returner but it’d be interesting to see what webb could do, they’ll never try to pass him through so hopefully they find something for him to do cuz he’s an athletic freak but a way longterm project.
thanks lebowski and it’s not just winfield, it’s a totally different defense with e.j. in the middle. as great as k-will and allen are, e.j. is the one that gets voted team defensive mvp when he’s playing and healthy.
“…and made New Orleans’ offense appear impotent (250 total yards – that’s sick!!!).”
In the interest of full-disclosure, the Saints only had to go 37 yards for their 3rd quarter TD and 7 yards for a 4th quarter TD. Who knows how many more yards they could have racked up on those drives if the field didn’t, you know, end? It seems unfair to hold those drives against them.
Knock ‘em on his ass! Then do it again…then do it again…then…you get the picture!
If Minnesota’s season starts off poorly and Favre struggles, Bus Cook will be waiting in the wings, readying Favre’s latest boo-boo pictures for release. Hopefully not confusing them with the other Favre photos…
“As tired as I was, I really felt like I needed some more work,” Favre said. “I needed it.”
wow. that’s what training camp is for. ASS.
Percy, the Cleveland fans weren’t worried about the Browns leaving and the Baltimore fans weren’t worried about the Colts, but it happened. Since the Vikings have existed, two major sports teams have left Minnesota. You’re telling me it’s not in the back of anybody’s mind? B.S. Are you telling me its not on the minds of the Vikings who begged Favre to come back?
Minnesota voted in Jesse Ventura and Michelle Bachman. How much faith do you have that a competent public official will be elected to pull this off. The state might leave it up to the voters, but keep in mind, the Lambeau renovations ($300 million) only won with 53% of the vote. That means 47% percent of the residents didn’t want to pay a tax to keep the one reason anybody would visit Green Bay. This was also in 2000 when the economy was in much better shape. The Packers have a season ticket waiting that has exceeded 80,000 people. The Vikings don’t have that problem. Before Favre, the Vikings had difficulty selling out games without giving away tickets to local businesses. I’m not sure the citizens of Minnesota have the overwhelming passion to make this happen in this economy.
For the most part, I agree with Gravy…
In most games, Favre will only need to be a game manager, which should (in theory) allow him to still turn it on when he needs to.
I’m less enthusiastic about the Vikes D than Gravy, but I think it’s more because the Lions and Bears look as though they may be sometimes competent on offense this season. Whether that actually happens or not remains to be seen.
At this point though, it’s a two team race for the division with Minnesota having the advantage over Green Bay unless or until GB can win one over Favre and Company.
The NFC North looks like it might actually be fun to watch this year… good thing I live in New England :S
It irks the shit out of me when I hear the constant crap from media and fans about how Favre LOVES THE GAME and HAS SO MUCH PASSION. No douchebag, if you LOVE THE GAME AND YOU HAVE PASSION FOR IT…you study film without a guy like Mike McCarthy having to FORCE you into it in 07 in your 17th year, you report to TC to be with your teammates whether you have an ankle owie or not, you don’t make excuses when you f8ck up, and you don’t have separate rules and shower facilities and an OFFICE at your teams’ locations. PASSION encompasses more than merely enjoying playing the game. Most players enjoy PLAYING THE GAME on Sundays. There’s that old players’ refrain, “they pay me for Mon-Sat and I work free on Sunday”. TRUE REAL passion includes DEDICATION TO THE GRUNT WORK, the NON glamour part of the game. Film study, weight lifting, practicing, relationship building with the guys, etc. etc. You know…the parts BF shuns and has utter elitist level contempt for. He doesn’t love THE GAME…he loves the ADULATION.
Gravy,
While I agree Favre “does” dink and dunk, if he has to do it repeatedly, he starts to “itch” and when that happens, you see throws like the one to Camarillo last nite – throws that really should not be made unless the receiver is Sidney Rice. I think he also gets a tad frustrated when receivers can’t gain separation or get open, which is what was happening last nite. The offense will still be productive, but with with Rice in there to open things up, it is dominant. Camarillo should have 80 catches this year – Favre’s gonna love this guy as his safety valve. I think the addition of Camarillo proves the Vikings’ front office is pretty darned check-out in terms of only adding players that fit a specific role. We all knew Camarillo was solid, but who among us ever connected the dots on this one and thought about bringing him in, ya know? It’s nice to know you have a front office that truly understands football, unlike a lot of other teams in the league.
But, Favre’s still the best in the business at his craft in terms of uncanny accuracy and pocket presence when his O-line is affording limited protection – ain’t nobody even close to being able to generate production in split seconds like Favre does. There might be better overall QB’s at this point, but Favre’s the prefect fit for an O-line with inconsistent pass protection, which is what we’ve seen in Minny since last season.
Favre will be lucky to make it through the game in New Orleans. I figure Greg Williams will have the Saints defense bring the heat on nearly every play.
badfish69,
Did you miss 2009? Favre was dumped on his ass 34 times – that’s horrible considering Favre usually gets rid of the ball quickly like Peyton Manning, yet is much more cagey in the pocket than Manning.
Pass protection isn’t the underlying issue – that would be receivers gaining separation and consistently getting open. Berrian can stretch the field and get open, but he’s not got go-to hands; he’s basically borderline unreliable. And, it appears Harvin finds most success in the slot and kinda finding an open hole and “sitting down”. Rice could get downfield and if the ball was close, he’d pull it down more often than not – that is invaluable to the success of an offense.
I just think the offense needs to adjust here and not attempt to do things it cannot – without Rice in the lineup.
After watching that interview it was really the first time I have ever seen Favre look like he didnt want to be playing football. I dunno just something about how he was talking about repeating what they did last year made me believe his heart isnt in it.
I cant stand Favre I think he is an ingenuious, arrogant, attention seeking, egotastic liar. But after watching him in that interview it makes me believe that he actually was telling the truth for once. I now think he didnt want to come back because he knew he couldnt come close to his success from last year and the only reason he did is because his teammates came down and asked him to. He made it a big point to bring up in his orginal press conference about how high the bar is set and no gurantees of repeating and talked about his teammates saying its not on him and stuff like that.
And I think thats why it was so easy to see in this press confernce that he doesnt have the heart for it anymore. He was talking about the reason why he didnt want to come back. I think talking about it rehashed all the fear and pressure he has been feeling the whole time.

i forgot to copy paste the rest of that article about the l.a. stadium, the guy talks about how the pckers fit into the equation so it will be interesting for you pcker fans although personally i think he makes some unfair generalizations about wi.
“When asked which of the small market teams he felt would be the best fit in Los Angeles, Roski said he has not yet decided.
“It’s not just the team, it’s also the fans from the team’s former base that we’re considering because whether it’s the Jaguars, Bills or Packers that moves to L.A. we’re assuming that at least a portion of their fan base will continue to support the team in areas like merchandise sales.”
“In that respect, the Packers are an intriguing choice for us. As the only village in the country with an NFL team, and obviously with nothing else for the villagers of Green Bay to do aside from tipping cows, swilling gravy, dating relatives and drinking heavily, we feel that they would continue to support the L.A. Packers.”
In a poll conducted by the Los Angeles investors, 98% of those dwelling in Green Bay said that they would continue watching the Packers after they relocate, assuming the rabbit ears on their trailer home T.V.’s can pick up a feed, and 7% said that they would consider saving up to charter a bus to L.A. to watch a game, although the logistics of this aren’t clear considering that a full sized Greyhound bus can accommodate only four average sized Packer fans and their wives.”
Besides being 12 years old, Gravy proves himself to be dilusional. The Packers, as a publicly owned entity, are not moving anywhere.

———————————————————–
Did you even read what you posted? That’s the whole point behind all the stories about the Vikings moving to LA. No one is saying they are gonna just ship the team to LA for the hell of it. Its all about them getting a new stadium. The old contract runs out in 2011 and if there is not significant progress made towards building a new stadium by then the Vikings will have no choice but to look for a state or private group that is willing. Like Florio said Zygi will probably stay for another season in 2012.
With in all likelihood however if a new stadium isnt agreed upon in 2012 they will move on. By then the Vikings hometown would have had ample chances to do the deal and no one could claim they didnt get a fair chance. When/If that happens the NFL will support the Vikings quest for looking for a new stadium in a different marketplace. By then if Roski or Majestic Realty Co. dont have a team in LA you can bet your bottom dollar they will make a play for the Vikings.
I personally believe a deal will get done in Minnesota . It was just what you posted really wasnt saying anything. Everyone knew the NFL and the Vikings wanted to get a deal done with the Minnesota government first. But that doesnt mean they wont move to LA. If the deal doesnt get done they will move. And quoting things a company says is meaningless. Of course they are going to say the politically correct thing. They arent going to say ” We plan on stealing the Vikings and not giving Minnesota a fair chance at keeping them, We will pull every dirty sleazy backhanded trick in the book to get a team in LA no matter how many fans/people it hurts”.
Anyone who believes otherwise is either to dumb, bias, or naive to take all the facts into consideration.
You know, a few hours ago, “Gravy Makes Sconnies Fat” called me and said, “G&GF, why does someone as cool as me spend so much time posting everything and anything I can in praise of Brett Favre? I know I’m cool, right?”
And I said, “Gravy, your mistake is that you don’t recognize that your fashion sense beyond all reasonable metrosexuality, your admiration for the manly virtues of the Vikings QB, and your ability to devote countless hours to hero worship of the same are actually indications of your alternative leanings and your Love That Dare Not Speak It’s Name for the Land Baron.”
“When you can admit this to yourself,” I continued, “everything will make sense. The dreams you have of being in Brett’s basement workshop in Hattiesburg, asking to use his hard stainless steel tools, if even for a minute, or of Favre on his sofa picking up a vintage Gibson archtop and enveloping you in his warm, sweet jazz. Perhaps when you admit your manlove to yourself, you can come out of the closet where you keep your laptop, and spend more time out in the real world trying to be the kind of man Brett would want you to be, and less time boring us with your tedious and idiotic posts.”
He sobbed a little, then said, “I see your point, but I’m holding out for a hero till the end of the night. And he’s got to be Brett, and he’s got to be Favre, and he’s got to be fresh from a crushing loss in the NFC Championship game.”

he showed up on the same day this year he showed up last year which seems to be a pretty good time to show up based on his 33td/7int/69%/4200 yards etc. season he had.
Damn man you cant read. The Guy said pressure not performance. Last year Favre didnt have nearly the amount of pressure he has now. Last year he came to a team that just got beat down in the wildcard round and really had no hope of winning the superbowl the next year. Favre was also coming off a 5 game collapse with his team. People didnt know what to expect so the expectations were low.
This season couldnt be more different. He is coming off a season where he helped the Vikings become 1 of the best teams in the league. They were undefeated for over half the season and had a chance at home field advantage through out the playoffs. When the playoffs started they were picked by many to make and win the superbowl. Once in the playoffs they demolished a team that even more people picked to win the superbowl. Then they dominated the future superbowl champions in the NFCCG till a few turnovers cost them there shot at the title.
The amount of pressure he has on him right now dwarfs that of last year. The guy said if he was with the team longer in the off season it would have helped relieve the pressure. He said nothing about performance. But even if he did the performance Favre had last year just adds to the pressure which he could have relieved if he spent more time with his teammates.

My, but it’s funny to see what stupidity a Viqueens fan can write when he knows that his franchise is on the verge of moving out to points West, while his despised archrival over the state line will not, indeed, CANNOT, ever abandon its market, as his beloved ‘Queens are very likely to do to him.
The Vikings NEED a SB title, or at least a SB appearance, out of Favre to get out of the line of fire on relocation. And let’s be realistic, that’s just not gonna happen. There will be a glorious irony to the demise of Minnesota NFL football being caused by the failures of a castoff Green Bay Packer. Could end up being the funniest thing to happen in professional sports, ever.

People will need to accept this and relax for the first half of the season. If they can go 4-4 to begin, they can easily go 8-0 to finish – provided Rice is not IR’d.
I agree with almost everything you said except them easily going 8-0. First of Rice wont be able to come back till after week 8 at the earliest. The surgery he had take anywhere from 8-12 weeks to heal. Even when he gets on the field he might not be 100%. That could seriously hurt his ability at getting behind the safeties. Also like you said the o-line could struggle all year and with Brett a year older and with a bum ankle he could have serious problems getting rid of the ball. Also Favre had a career year you cant expect him to repeat those numbers. With the line problems you can expect Favre to even out his ints with his career average or worse. Also Chester Taylor moving on will hurt.
All of these things say the it will be basically impossible for the Vikings to go 8-0 or even close to that to end the year. (Also the last 2 year Favre has struggled to close out the regular season, he blew a playoff spot in NY and home field advantage in Minn).
Also they dont have it so easy after week 8. Yes the Cardinals are not the same team and the Bills and Lions are hardly competitive. But they play the Bears twice who are a division rival and have improved on offense and defense. Cutler was a top 10 qb before last year and you can expect him to start to climb his way back up. The Redskins are much improved with Mcnabb who is traditionally lights out down the stretch and could challenge for a playoff spot this year. The packers have 1 of if not the best offenses and above average defense and have the ability to win it all. The Giants will likely return to the team they were last year and could be 1 of the best in the conference. The Eagles do have an unproven qb but he has shown promised but besides that they have 1 of the most dynamic group of play makers in the league and a defense that is finally healthy and 2 ROY candidates. Throw in the fact that Andy Reid dominates Chilly and the Vikes will have a challenge depending on Kolbs play.
So say they win those 1st 3 split the Bears and split the other 4 that gives them a 6-3 record after week 8 I say that puts them around 10-6 or 9-7 depending on how the 1st 7 games go.
But, they added “…we don’t really have an use for The Packer Hall Of Fame. When we want to visit a Goofy and Mickey Mouse fantasy amusement park, we go to Disneyland.”

Dial-a-Cliche:
Unless you were a complete idiot (which you may well be, your posts surely don’t prove otherwise) you’d know that the GBP can never relocate as your Vikings are in imminent danger of doing.
But pretending they did, I’d be all in favor of leaving the Packers Hall of Fame behind. Green Bay is a short drive away from Minnesota, and it would be nice for Vikings fans to at least SEE a Lombardi trophy.
So when the Los Angeles Vikings are the scourge of the NFC West, will you still root for them, or go with the realigned St. Louis Rams? I suppose in the end you’ll just pretend you were a Packers fan all along.
Route36West, are you retarded?
what part of The company “the Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills are the first teams it will try to relocate” and “Semcken said Majestic won’t approach the 49ers, Chargers or Vikings” don’t you undestand?
maybe it upsets you that the l.a. group is going after the jags and bills instead of the vikes but you have to come to terms with it.
the league told the l.a. group the team that moves has to be a small market team, roski said specifically that the vikings weren’t an option for them, not by choice but because he said goodell told him they’re not an option. it was in the l.a. times like 6 months ago.
and the league isn’t expanding, they’re relocating one team and that one team clearly isn’t the vikings.
also, despite what the l.a. group said about san diego, all the journalists in LA say it will be the chargers or the raiders.
the vikes aren’t going anywhere except to the sb.
Gravy Makes Sconnies Fat -
All Favre has done the last 3 seasons is throw interceptions to end them. The facts are there, dipshit, Favre never learns from his mistakes and will break your feeble little heart again this year. Now go back to pleasuring Contra and leave the posting to people who actually know football.
route36, you doubleposting, illiterate, twat, try to focus:
he said “There would be way less pressure on Brett if he would have just shown up for training camp”
i said, illogical argument – he didn’t show up for camp last year either.
and i explained that yes, he had the best statistical year of his or almost anyone’s career and will undoubtedly have another very strong statistical year while the vikes go even farther as a career, cuz this year the vikes will be returning to more of a running team, which favre has said is necessary, mixed in with timely playaction passes by favre.
the qb with pressure is erin, in the big games he looked like he had 1000 pounds on his shoulders, he was so tight in the vike-pack games and of course he choked away the wc game in ot both with the overthrow that would’ve won the game and then with the fumblekick turnover that ended the game.
erin knows that he’s in is 6th season and he’s never even won a playoff game, and he knows the average qb career is only 5 years so he’s on borrowed time as it is. that’s probly why he’s feeling so much pressure.
favre on the other hand has already accomplished everything there is to accomplish for an nfl qb. he’s got his super bowl ring. he’s got his 3 mvp’s. he’s got the all time nfl records. anything else he adds to his career is just gravy.
green and gold forever, you’re like the really slow kid in school that tries to get everyone’s attention when they’re talking and when they finally stop to listen to him he says something so embarrassingly dullwitted and unfunny they just sort of smile politely, pat him on the head and go back to ignoring him.
“After watching that interview it was really the first time I have ever seen Favre look like he didnt want to be playing football.”
that’s cuz you’re allowing yourself to see what you desperately want to see but isn’t really there. you also look at girls and see something in their faces that tells you they want to hook up with them but that’s not real either, it’s really just pity or revulsion you’re seeing.
the l.a. investors are on record that they have to go after a small market team and let’s face it, that makes the pckers a candidate. the vikes have been ruled out but the pckers haven’t.
disappearing profits and a 17-15 record, all since favre left… i’m not saying the pckers will be gone next year but i’d definitely be worried if i were a pcker fan. if something doesn’t change. call it the favre curse, incompetence from the gay vampire or just plain bad luck but if something doesn’t change…
“that tells them they want to hook up with YOU but that’s not real either.”
I’d just like to point out to everyone talking about the Vikes o-line last night…. They improved dramatically when Herrera was moved back to RG and Cooper was put in at C. I don’t know if DeGeare was the problem there or if Herrera was struggling at C, but once they made that move, the run blocking and pass pro improved. Still not perfect by any means, but better.
Also…. The fact that the Vikings lease runs through 2011 has held up the stadium effort. I think there is enough pressure across the state and enough state reps who know that they will have a tough time with their reelection efforts that the deal will get pushed through. The artists schematics for the stadium are beautiful, and the amenities planned for outside the stadium will be more than enough to convince the legislature that it will be a benefit to all of downtown, not just the Vikings organization.
I wonder if they would consider melee-style MMA or UFC bouts in the Dome after the vikes leave. You know, Roman gladiator-style…. That would be fun to watch!!! Everybody gang up on Brock Lesnar!!!!
one of the candidates for governor is proposing a 900 mill stadium that the vikes pay 40% of the cost of and sign a 40 year lease on and use revenue from nonviking events and 40 year bond and gambling revenue etc.
the vikes were generally fairly positive about the proposal although they’d obviously try to negotiate a shorter lease and smaller %age they have to pay for but the point is that all the candidates, if they want to win the election, are gonna have to come up with a plan that gets the vikes a stadium just in a way that it at least sounds like it’s not paid for by a direct tax.
what’s for sure is that it’s gonna be a fixed roof stadium so they can host a super bowl, etc. and be used all year but i wish it could be open air. it can’t be tho so it’ll just have to be a state of the art fixed roof stadium.

Everybody (me, Pervy, Gravy and everybody else) knows the Packers are owned by the good people of Green Bay (Which, by the way, makes the Packers worthless as they can’t be sold). We are just winding you dick-heads up because of your lame-ass hate filled LA jokes.
In order for the Vikings to move to LA, the Wilfs would have to relinquish their ownership of the team. The LA group has no intention of being held hostage by another Al Davis/Raiders situation. They insist on owning all or majority interest in the team.
I am a California (former Ram) Viking Fan who would hate seeing the Vikings leave Minnesota. Losing the rivalry with the Packers would wreck everything – I’d hate to see that happen, they are among the three or four best teams in the NFC.

Oh, and I’ve tried to keep the sentences short and simple so that you have less trouble following them. I hope it helps. I’m a researcher and writer by trade, so some of my constructions may get a bit lengthy and complicated for “touched” folks as yourself. I apologize. [Aside: When you criticize someone's grammar and syntax, the construction "upon you return to school" should be avoided.]
Which brings up a question: Just what is it YOU do that gives you so much time to post such torrents of drivel so often? You can’t be gainfully employed, or in this economy you won’t be for long.
Anyway, this will be a fun season in the NFC North. For those of us who follow football as part of a well-rounded life it will be fun, as Favre collapses and takes down the team with him, to think now and then about manhero-worshipping trolls like you and the angst you’ll feel as your tiny universe implodes, and have a little laugh.
So thanks!

btw, anyone who thinks the vikings will move to l.a. is dreaming just like i’ve been trying to tell you:
“Jacksonville and Buffalo are two teams in very, very small markets, he said. “They are teams that have either outdated stadiums or are having trouble filling their stadiums or both.”
___________________________________
I’m not for a move and I’m not seeing it happen, but what part of the “outdated stadium” and “trouble filling their stadium” is Minnesota not a part of….? You know as well as I do that the HumpMe Dome is rarely ever filled….last seeing being an exception due to Favre and an exciting season. I’m there for the Pack Vike game every year and my brother is a STH for the Vikes. They have a tough time filling it up unless a good portion goes to fans of the opposition…that’s no secret. It’s been that way for some time.
I do see Buffalo going first though. Smallest market (Green Bay is considered part of the Milwaukee/Madison market), incredibly poor record of late, fans base dwindling because of recent record. The fact that they ship a home game to Toronto every year doesn’t help their case, either.
@Canned Heat
You are aware that every Vikings game since 1997 has been sold out, right? I realize that sometimes part of that means that an outside source steps in and buys up the remaining tickets, but that doesn’t change the fact that the Vikings make full revenue on the games for ticket sales every game. At this point, it’s all about revenue, not people in the seats.
The team won’t move, the amazing success of Target Field goes to show that if they build it, they will come. Now it’s all about funding and getting something worked out. Having a democratic governor such as Mark Dayton will help that charge immensely. So if you’re ok with taxes, make sure to vote Dayton in November if you want a new stadium!

“SS-Mann”…. ???
I feel pretty embarrassed. I think I’ve been in a battle of wits with a 13 year old kid. I don’t know why I assumed there wouldn’t be children on here.
My bad.
Uh, kids, I actually co-wrote the corporate style guide. No lie. You might want to look into the use of more complex constructions than, “See Brett. See Brett throw. See Brett throw a pick. See Brett make excuses.” But for all your attacks on my syntax and sentence structure, you fail to produce any credible reasons to believe the Vikings have a realistic chance at the Superbowl, or post-season play for that matter.
And you must be kids– Gravy at least. Cliche, if he is indeed a cook at In-and-Out (and who would claim to be that who was not?) can’t be out of his early 20′s (or so I hope, for your sake). You might not remember Brett’s career in Green Bay first-hand, but he has been in the business of creating, then dashing great hopes since before you were out of kindergarten. It took me a long time to figure that out– not as long as many Packers fans, but longer than it should have.
You’d think on the strength of 16 years in Green Bay, his performance with the Jets, and LAST FRIGGIN’ YEAR, even the most dense Vikings fans would have the simple reasoning skills to recognize that Brett has done more to blow chances at glory than exploit them. I still haven’t heard from you or anyone why this year should be different. I guess some of you need another season down the toilet before such a simple truth is clear. Fine by me, it puts off any meaningful rebuilding and will make it easier for the Packers to dominate the North for years to come.
Just promise me you guys will be man enough to stick around here for week 8, week 12, week 17… I want to see what becomes of this blind confidence in Favre as your Super Bowl run fails to materialize. I can’t speak for the rest of the country, but you do realize that Vikings fans are laughed at and made fun of in the New York market, largely on the strength of people like you? I’m not talking about partisan Viking-bashing, but NFL fans with no horse in the Favre race who generally agree that the Vikings chances of winning the Super Bowl are only slightly higher than those of the Calgary Stampeders.
But please, don’t stop believing. That’s what makes it fun.
Green & Gold, you keep drinking that kool aid. Everybody keeps talking about how bad the Vikes will be on offense with Favre out there, being injured (which is mostly drama by the way), and forget that this defense dominated two of the best offensive teams in the playoffs (it’s hard for any defense to overcome 7 turnovers to the best offenses).
The Vikes have as good a shot as any team with an above average O-Line, a top 10 defense, a top 5 running back (when he hangs on to the ball) and some decent receivers. The coach may be the biggest thing holding them back.
Now, go ahead, tell me what makes the Pack a legitimate shot at a SB berth. The Defense played well at times last year, but anytime they played against a legitimate NFL QB, they were shredded like a block of cheddar. The Pack has yet to fix their offensive line issues so Rodgers doesn’t get killed. I do like the Pack’s offense in general though (OK back, good receivers, fabulous QB). The Pack’s coach (IMO) is a weak spot as well.
I think both teams have any equal shot at the north this year, and if you don’t, you’re not really being honest.
Go ahead and make fun of my syntax and spelling, it’s a freakin’ blog, I couldn’t possibly care less.
