Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo has yet to name Sam Bradford the team’s starting quarterback in the wake of his impressive performance against the Patriots on Thursday night. But all signs continue to point toward Bradford getting the nod as the Week One starter for St. Louis.
“He was fine today,” Spagnuolo said Sunday regarding Bradford. “He got all the reps with the 1s. I asked him which way he wanted to throw seven-on-seven. I was waiting for him to say, ‘with the wind’, but he said, ‘I don’t care coach,’ which was kind of good.”
In Spagnuolo’s view, it’s a good thing that Bradford is getting first-team reps. “I think that’s very helpful,” the second-year head coach said. “Any time you can go out there and you can be . . . the timing, we had a bunch of periods there where the ones were going. We put them in five-play reps today with the ones trying to deliver more simulation of the game. I think there was some timing there and some execution and you need that, quarterback, back, receivers.”
With Bradford scheduled to start on Thursday night against the Ravens, Spagnuolo was asked whether a strong showing from the rookie would seal the deal.
“I’m not going there,” Spagnuolo said. “We’re going to take it day-to-day. Today is three days before the Baltimore game so we’ve got a ways to go.”
Still, it’s hard to think the Rams won’t entrust the job to Bradford. They didn’t pay him $50 million guaranteed to sit on the bench — and it’s not like they can be must worse than they’ve been the past three years.
If Bradford starts the season under center he will be on IR by week 3. Spags, you are going to get that kid killed
Make him earn that $$.
Ravens are going to put that shoulder to the test.
Bradford is the real deal. Stafford also looks to be a possible franchise QB.
The next QBs taken could be career backups as Sanchez has displayed.
Bradford looked great against the patriots. As a bengals fan, thats good news. he will be a fantasy starter week 5 or 6
Bradford was poised and polished and the Rams have shown this preseason they’re not a 1-15 team anymore; given what the NFC West has been they might pull off a huge turnaround.

Just because he’s being paid great doesnt mean he will start on day one.
(“Ravens are going to put that shoulder to the test.”)
you must have not seen his previous games, his shoulder has been hit, yet he’s still playing. The worry isnt the shoulder now, it’s how many hits can he take, he’s being smacked around like David Carr was, that needs to stop.

Nah, i dont see him getting hurt that soon. People, his shoulder isnt made of paper and glue!!! I could see him hurting his ribs or knee with a ton of hits. hopefully the O-line starts to gell and protect this kid.

I agree. I think his arm is great. he doesnt have a cannon like Stafford, but his accuracy is great. Stafford’s arm is like a cannon though, both have work to do, BUT i see bright futures for them, IF their offensive lines protect them!!!!

Sanchez will be pretty good, i dont see him being worth the 5th pick, but i dont see him busting or being a backup. I think he’s better than guys like Jason Campbell though. As for the 2010 QB after Bradford, that’s Tebow and he’s HARD to figure out, I DO think Jimmy Clausen will have a good career though.
Sam will get hurt.
He’s a china doll and the Rams stink.
anyone that watched bradford at OU and then saw him tear up the pats last weekend would know that he is gonna be just fine. his oline is not great but it is protecting him well enough for him to get it out on a 3 and 5 step without much problem. just needs to keep getting that ball out quick and he will be a franchise QB for a decade. kid can make all the throws and just cause he doesn’t throw a rocket all the time doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a fastball, just means he understands how to make a ball catch-able. catch-able balls makes a great QB.
He will be lucky to get up after one good hit
Soooo many idiots on here….sooo many. I guess Dale W didn’t see him take a shellacking against Minny and keep slingin it. Sam and the Rams will get better every week, and make the NFC West a lot more interesting.

Really because when i watched the game he didn’t take any sacks and maybe 2 hits on blitzs.
Ppl don’t realize that he isn’t gonna be David Carr
We aren’t a passing Team
we have arguably the best runningback in the game. they arent gonna blitz him all day and they are gonna have to stop Jackson. He’ll be fine.
