As I’ve said, I don’t believe race has any bearing on Roethlisberger’s situation, but anyone familiar with the criminal justice system knows there has been plenty of racial disparity, so Kaz has reason to be cynical.

@ Philly99….150% agree. This is a serious test case for reverse discrimination. I am not a Steeler fan (hence my handle), but if Big Ben were black he wouldn’t have been suspended at all. Sad. Too bad the white community can not bond together to fight this like the black community does.

No, I don’t either. Goodell just reacted to the media feeding frenzy. If it had been someone less prominent than Roethlisberger and the media wasn’t all over it, I doubt he’d have done anything. If it had been McNabb with the same amount of publicity as Ben was getting, he’d have done the same thing.

It amazes me how many rival fans come on here and try to say Ben raped this person and Ben has accused of rape multible times.Give me a break people.Dont you think if the Milledgeville girl was raped there would of been proof of sexual contact.
As far as the Nevada case goes..Why would the woman wait a year to file a civil case not a criminal charge?As stated earlier there is proof that she texted her friends bragging about Having sex with Ben.
If Ben is guilty of anything,its being a little too immature.The guy came from a small school and small town in ohio and the next thing he knows he is the starting QB for the Pittsburgh Steelers.His 1st year he makes it to the AFC championship game.2nd year wins a SB.Couple of years later wins a 2nd SB.Does he need to grow up?Sure he does.Im sure he acted poorly in some past situations,but to label this guy as some kind of deviant is just absurd.

Look, I’ve been disappointed to learn how Ben has treated fans, have called him out for being an egomaniacal jackass, and support a four-game suspension because of his increasingly reckless behavior. Wish it had been the team because Goodell is a hypocrite who set a precedent he won’t honor with others. But the suspension may save Ben’s life, so either way, it’s worth it.
But no, I don’t find him an appalling low life. He’s an immature frat boy who was sucked into the trappings of too much success too fast. Work has taken me to some rough places, and I have a lot of experience with abusive and predatory men. He doesn’t fit the patterns. He gets slobbery and stupid when drinking like many frat-boys and dropping his britches is embarrassing, but it’s more immaturity than anything.
The Nevada woman was older than him by a few years and didn’t mention alcohol in her complaint. In Georgia, he was celebrating his 28th birthday and met a 20-year-old who chased him all over town. I doubt he carded her. It’s a bit much to expect a young, single man to turn down women who are throwing it at him. And not many men treat women who throw it at them in bars with the same respect they show their girlfriends. The women he’s dated long-term have nothing bad to say about him.
To me the most telling stories are about the woman who drove him home from the country club. He made a pass at her, dropped his pants, and said, “Do what you want?” And she left. No struggle at all. She returned to a party at his invitation, went with him to “see his new bed,” they started kissing and he tried to put his hand up her skirt. She pushed him away and left. No struggle. Both times they were alone–no witnesses. But she just left. That’s not a predator. That’s most guys trying their luck.
A bad person? Please. This is nothing more than an immature jerk who’s been smeared by gossip sites to look like Jack the Ripper. I guarantee there are more dangerous men posting on these threads.

Roethlisberger hasn’t been accused three times. One of those supposed accusations was a false report. A woman in Nevada had sex with him, texted her friends that she couldn’t wait to see him again, waited a year, and filed a $3 million lawsuit alleging rape. I’ve already outlined the Georgia non-case.
Brandon Underwood, Eric Foster, and Eric Green are African Americans accused of rape this year. None have been suspended. Vince Young assaulted someone in a strip club and hasn’t been suspended. Pacman Jones had six years of arrests, convictions, and pleas, and was involved in two shootings within a few months before his first league suspension. Ray Lewis was heavily fined but not suspended after a murder charge.
Of course there’s racism in our society and in our criminal justice system … but not in this situation.

I’m a woman who’s spent years working with real rape victims and researching and writing about legal and medical issues so I know how to research a criminal case. And if I have any questions, my brother and sister-in-law are criminal defense attorneys. I’ve read the complaint and every bit of evidence so far in Nevada. And I’ve read every document released in Georgia, researched DNA testing, and repeatedly watched the DA’s 71-minute comments.
Since you haven’t checked the facts:
That was Roethlisberger’s FIRST visit to the college town. She was drinking illegally on her own dime and following him from club to club, pinching him to get his attention. At the last club, he bought shots for the room, which the waitress set on the table. She CHOSE to drink them. She CHOSE to tell him her pin said she was “Down to F**k.”
Her sorority sister ragged him about Nevada and Ben tossed her from the party. She and her friend are the ONLY ones claiming the bodyguard blocked the bathroom. Other witnesses refuted that and the accuser claimed she and Ben were rolling on the hallway floor–difficult if the guard had been there.
The accuser was out of sight only 10 minutes, the sorority sisters Ben threw out dragged her to the cops and cried rape–which she repeatedly denied. The medical exam showed she hadn’t had intercourse that evening but did have sex earlier in the day (based on the size and degradation of the DNA finding). When asked, the DA said he couldn’t comment because it violated her privacy.
The DA said Ben needs to grow up and he hoped she and her friends had learned their lesson … not typical DA comments about RAPE.

Sorry, couldn’t resist. That’s a sad case all around. It’s unfortunate to bring race into any of this. But it’s equally unfortunate to bring fandom into something as serious as rape. And it doesn’t benefit men of color who’ve been falsely accused and convicted to rant false accusations at a caucasian. The system has failed people of all races at one time or another. Fortunately, this time it worked.
There’s no credible evidence of rape because no one was raped. If you’d bothered to review the evidence, you’d know that. And there haven’t been three accusations. That was an erroneous report. The NFL doesn’t know anything more than has been reported. You don’t like Roethlisberger–fine. But he’s not guilty. If the suspension forced him to take stock of his life, then I’m glad for it. But it shouldn’t run longer than four weeks.
