there’s the problem!!!! i dont think he’s as good as some or he thinks he is. He had a chance in the pros in a GREAT system and didnt even try.

i doubt Vick goes to the UFL, to be honest, i wouldnt be shocked if Vick went to a team to start next year, maybe even Arizona???

agree, BUT in my book this is a 3rd or 4th chance. no he didnt go to prison twice, BUT he did make mistakes in college, trying to get into the NFL TOO early and of course, when he got to the NFL, he was not in shape, in my book that was his first or 2nd chances.

First of all, Vick didn’t go to jail for fighting dogs. He went to jail for conspiracy to run a criminal interstate enterprise.
Secondly, he did a lot more than fight dogs. He also smashed their heads onto concrete, drowned them in buckets, and put jumper cables on their balls and electrocuted them. He also regularly threw non-fighting dogs in with the pits to see them get ripped apart for his own enjoyment.
The man is a sociopath who relishes the sight of the bloody death and dismemberment of animals who have no defense. His soul is dark as night, and so is yours for defending him.

Vick’s punishment was way too harsh. Two years in the pen for fighting dogs from two breeds that exists for one purpose: to fight (ie the names, Boxers, and Pit Bulls). Dante’ Stallworth kills a man, spends one night in jail and is back on the field. Rick Patino pays for an abortion with no consequences whatsoever. This is where sports reflect society. In our hyper political correct society, we seem to care more about dogs than humans.
So heck yeah, let Maurice play. He served his time. If he can perform – let him.

If your larger point is about reckless accusations in general, and of racism in particular, I agree.
But, you’re hurling the slings and arrows of outrageous accusations by saying “the left likes to throw around harsh words in attempt to silence the opposition.” The subtext is that the right doesn’t, and that is pure and utter B.S.

My point is larger really, the left likes to throw around harsh words in attempt to silence opposition. Like I said, when this is done it minimizes the impact of actual racist acts and racist people that are the skid-mark of our society.

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 is a funny piece of legislature. You’re right in that Byrd, a bunch of Democrats and a Republican fought the bill with a filibuster, and that without the Republicans it wouldn’t have passed, but, it didn’t pass BECAUSE of the Republicans (no more than it was BECAUSE of the Democrats).
The Senate needs more than 66 Senators to bypass any filibuster, or 67% of the vote. The Democrats were in favor of passage in a 69%-31% split–in other words, had it been up to Democrats it would have passed. The same can be said for Republicans, who were in favor by a vote of 27 to 6. It was a remarkable piece of bipartisan legislature where the vast majority of Senators did the right thing.
The bill highlights not a critique of political party, but rather, it represents a breakdown in geography: no Senate Republicans from the 11 states of the Confederacy voted for the bill, while just one Democrat did. Granted, there was only one Republican Senator from those states at the time, compared to 21 Democrats, but that itself represents the issue just the same: from the 1860s to the 1960s, southerners were overwhelmingly Democrat–because of anti-Lincoln (anti-abolition) backlash.
Coincidentally (or not), there has been almost a complete role reversal in the last forty years.

I am going to assume that they let your comment on here because of the education you are about to get handed to you by me and others like me. First of all you moron, The Tea Party has been around for like a year. Second you are obviously distorted on your history. If it wasn’t for republicans the civil rights act would never have been passed. It was filibustered by DEMOCRAT Senator Robert Byrd of W. Virginia. Senator Byrd was also a former Grand Dragon of the KKK. Again, in case you can’t read, he was a democrat. Dr. King was a lifelong republican who endorsed and supported Richard Nixan, a republican.
Next can you please explain how anyone is to blame for Vick and Claretts behaviors? Did George W. secretly finance the interstate gambling ring? Did he smash some pups to the floor until they died? Did he then connect car batteries and throw the dogs into a pool to kill them? I will admit that some guys get a raw deal because of their skin color but it certainly isn’t common and definitely doesn’t apply to either of these instances. In fact by claiming it does spits in the face of real instances of racial profiling.

“We wish him well.” Of course the first line of the article says “For those of you who don’t know what a Nighthawk is, at least one member of the first installation of the team will look a lot like a jailbird.”
So of course PFT wishes him well, but only in a back-handed manner and will quickly report if he has further troubles. And PFT will be unlikely to report much if he does turn his life around, because that is not as lurid and attention grabbing as problems are.
PFT- loving the worst of the NFL since the day Florio started.
