Atari Bigby, James Starks hit PUP list too

In the avalanche of transactions this Tuesday afternoon, a few were bound to slip through the cracks.

We mentioned that the Packers placed cornerback Al Harris on the PUP/reserve list, but neglected to follow up that former starting safety Atari Bigby and rookie running back James Starks were also placed on PUP, effectively taking them out of action until Week Six.

Bigby underwent ankle surgery early this month after apparently hurting himself during the team’s conditioning test.  Starks, a sixth-round pick, has battled a hamstring injury since the Spring.

The Packers are now rather thin at running back and in the secondary, and figure to be watching the waiver wire closely for possible pickups at both positions.

Look for Lumpkin to make the 53 man cut since Quinn Porter also was put on the IR. Behind Grant now it looks like: B. Jackson as the third down and back-up back, with Lumpkin and FB Kuhn also able to take snaps at HB. Much like QB, the Packers now have a few spots where they do not have NFL ready players in case of injury.

Ha ha ha! Lap it up dummy vike fans!
Starks never played one play in preseason and neither did Bigby. Neither were depended on… Heck, I’m amazed Starks was even placed on PUP and not IR or cut. Same with Bigby.
By the way vike fans, take a look at our first 8 games and compare and contrast. We don’t need these players and they’ll be around in plenty of time for our little get together.
Oh, here’s another phrase, like saying vike fans are a little slow in the head… Nah, not still doesn’t emphasis what a short bus crew vike fans are. I mean, even the biggest moron gets after 50 years of loser ball not to get their hopes up, yet here are the vike fans!

Secondary, yes they are thin but at RB they have Ryan Grant, Brandon Jackson, Kregg Lumpkin. 3 is fine when they pass all the time.
Oh, and people in WI are not the fattest in the US. Just wanted to bring a little fact to the party…

Why would Ted watch the waiver wire? Those are free agents out there, that’s not safe. The real question is, seeing as how the next draft isn’t until April, how will Ted find replacements?

Starks was drafted in the 6th round to be a third string RB so if that constitutes “thin”, I’ll take it.
Bigby got terrible advice from his agent, Drew Rosenpussy, and he might not ever be a starter again in GB. In fact, he could be cut and we all know what happens to Packer cast offs, they sign with the CryQueens.

  13. lebowski says: Aug 31, 2010 10:21 PM

Thompson’s had a pretty good draft this year and last, but Ozzie and the Ravens getting Josh Wilson from the Seahawks for a 5th round pick would have been a very smart move. You can make a trade once in a while, Ted. And I’m not talking about trading something called Tony Moll for a little used special teams player.

    *********************
that’s the whole point, tedophiles praise ted for signing charles woodson who is a legitimate free agent pro bowler, but then they pretend that there has never been another impact free agent since woodson that was worth signing.
basically, the rule of thumb for tedophiles is that every great free agent that pedo tedo signs is an awesome signing (all one of them – woodson) but every free agent he doesn’t sign and that other teams sign instead is “overpaid”.
pcker fans spend as much time talking about who is overpaid, for a while i thought they were all accountants and personal finanace managers instead of football fans.

  19. Calistin says: Aug 31, 2010 11:19 PM

Heard Peprah is having a good camp. He should be able to hold down the backup spot until Bigby gets back. No guarantee there either though, he (Bigby) gets hurt a lot and can’t be counted on.
Hope the promise Morgan Burnett has showed so far continues. Having Collins and Woodson back there sure helps, but beyond that it gets a little shaky. Hopefully this is one of those years some no name guy has a big year.
I have to believe TT will make a trade before the regular season, maybe Spitz or one of the TE for a DB.

    ____________
Excellent question. The answer is he probably won’t bother. As you stated, he doesn’t like free agents.
He’ll either find a Sherman-era player to re-sign, like Ahman Green last year, or he will field a team with glaring holes and an overall lack of depth, as he has done throughout his entire career.
All the while, the homers will laud him, and proclaim from the rooftops what a “genious” he is, even as their hopes of postseason success are crushed once more.
    lebowski says:

    ____________
He wouldn’t be Ted if he did that. That’s what GOOD general managers do. You know, the type that can build teams that win playoff games? Ted wants nothing to do with any of that. It’s not his way of doing things.

    Minny Schedule
@Saints – loss. Won’t even be close. Saints look good and vikes look horrible.
Dolphins at the metrodump- Loss, vikes are just too banged up and have no one that can cover Marshall.
Detroit @ the metrodump – win, but this will be a close one and there will be injuries.
@Jets – Loss, Jets want revenge on Favre and they can get to the QB.
Cowboys – Loss, maybe Brett (if he’s playing) will figure out why you don’t run up scores.
@Packers – Revenge is a dish best served with a side of Favre’s ankle.
@Patriots – Back to back to back playoff teams on the road… Too much for vikes.
At the end of week 8 you’ll be 1-6 and watch for the finger pointing, blame games, folks being injured, and folks not caring.

TT does have skill in finding players in needed areas and Bigby also came out and played the best football he ever will that year they picked up Grant. If you are going to let someone go, you need to have someone of equal skill or have much more upside to replace them with, like with Aaron Rodgers, I think this will be a similar cased with Morgan Burnett I think he will have a solid year if he is lucky enough to remain healthy.

“Much like QB, the Packers now have a few spots where they do not have NFL ready players in case of injury.”
Actually neither backup RB nor backup QB is much of a concern in GB.
CB & Safety are the positions without NFL ready reserves. Maybe not after week 6 with this news. But definitely so for now. There is talent. But it doesn’t appear ready.
Probably DL, too. They play a 3-4 and have 4 solid ones. 5 would be better. I’m not even going to say “his” name. His ears might ring causing an ear drum rupture and another IR trip.
At OLB, they have NFL ready reserves in Jones and Popinga. But the problem is that one will have to start. And that player will be a below average starter.

As for secondary, Packers are in trouble. They got a decent starters, but if one goes down its not going to be pretty. RB is fine, I think Jackson is ready for a breakout year.
As for the TT Haters, how much money does Oakland, Tampa, Chicago, Washington, and many more teams spend on Free Agents?
Packers were 11-5 last year, and provided a game that if Capers wasn’t sleeping in the box, should have been a win. Seriously, You score 45 points in a game you should not have to worry about losing.

There was a report put out recently about the fattest states in the country and guess what? Neither Wisconsin nor Minnesota made the list. In fact the obesity rates of both states are nearly identical. Wisconsin at 27.4 Minny at 26.4. Both pale in comparison to West Virginia which comes in at a whopping 34. There is even more fat asses in Favre’s home state than either Minny or Wisconsin.
But keep throwing poop like inbred monkeys. It is entertaining.

People from Minnesota look down on people from Wisconsin because they remind them too much of themselves. I know…I lived there nearly my entire life.A very self-centered bunch with a huge superiority complex. Their arrogance compels them to make this a subject, purely as a distraction. They would much rather be thought of as Seattle-ish treehuggers or mountain climbers from Denver, but they’re not and they know it. Anonymous name-calling is all they can do to fight off the stench of having nothing to celebrate when it comes to pro football. The jealousy makes them ill.
