Chargers tweak 75-man roster, adding one and cutting one

As plenty of players who make it to the 53-man roster on Saturday will learn, Sunday could bring a belated visit from the Turk.

Each of the two cut-down dates results in a flood of players into the market, and if one team sees treasure in another team’s trash, another player will have to be put out on the curb.

The game of roster dominoes already has played out in San Diego, where one of the guys who had made the cut from 80 to 75 suddenly found himself at No. 76.

The Chargers, who cut down to 75 earlier today, have announced that they have claimed cornerback Fred Bennett off of waivers from the Texans. And so they have to cut veteran defensive lineman Ryon Bingham.

A seventh-round pick in 2004, Bingham appeared in every game from 2006 through 2008. He missed all of 2009 with a torn triceps.

Bennett, a fourth-round pick in 2007, has appeared in 40 games with 17 starts in three NFL seasons.
