Reggie Bush-Rushing 1740 yds Rec 468 yds 16 td’s.Vince Young Rushing-1050 Passing-3036 38 TD’s.Cam Newton Rushing-1409 Passing-2589 29 TD’s.So if the Heisman is about the best player in stats.Then Young should have won it not Bush.Oh, and Young did not just play great in the Rose Bowl he did it all year.And in 05 Tx held Bush to near his all time low in both rushing yds atts and Td’s.So if Bush was the best player that year.He didnt look it.While Young continued to do what he had done all year.

Plus the fact that the Bushie didn’t do anything above normal for a running back.Vince as as Quartarback did what no other Quartarback before him never did.Cam Newton is performing well below in 10 compared to what Vince Young did in 05.And Newton got the Heisman.Are you telling me theres not a back out there with stats like or better than the Bushler.Give me a Fuc@ing break.So lets Recap,Bush as a back had a good but no extraordinary year.Young did what no other quartarback had ever done.

What a bunch of jackass’s.Give me a break,Reggie Bushie did not do anything spectaclar that season.And if the Heisman is about “stats” than Young should have gotten the damn trophy.If you all wan’t to be sticklers about it here are some regular season stats to look at.1.Ricky Williams had more points scored and more rushing and all purpose yards than the Bush.2. Vince Young is the first FBS to rush for 1000 and pass for a 1000 in a single season.That fact alone should have screamed out Heisman stats.

Simply put, and athlete should be duly compensated for his athletic production while in school.
Yes life isn’t fair for that student who busted tables through college.
Bush was the Better player for the year 2005! Unfortunately, the Heisman Award, along with every other MVP award has been dolled out to the player who was OUTSTANDING for the ENTIRE year before a Championship Game.
Yes, Young had a masterful game in the Rose Bowl, and a very good season. Bush simply had a better season, as so by the voters. If the Award was given AFTER the championship game, MAYBE you can even start dialogue. But its all “academic”, and I will get to that in a minute.
In case you forgot or you are simply uninformed, MVP awards are customarily given out to a athlete for their outstanding YEAR. Be it NFL, NHL, MLB, NCAA, and the list goes on and on, even down to pop warner.
For Mack, to foolishly but understandably lobby for his “Former Cash Cow” Vince Young, it speaks to the arrogance and gratitude of “some” college coaches. Young was more than partly responsible for Mack getting one of the biggest coaching contracts in the NCAA.
To add insult to this asinine campaign, Vince Young was no saint either, how many classes did he “scoot by” so that he can play? and How many times Mack has successfully cheated the system? Yes – Cheating is rampant throughout college athletics. (I dare anyone to turn the ignorant cheek and say cheating is performed at ALL schools)
So this self serving ploy Mack is foolish, arrogant and once again a joke. Bush Deserves the Heisman, he was the better player that year, Vince Young and the rest of his fan base should get over it. He should be concentrating on Being a better quarterback and learn how to deal with his immature emotions. Mack needs to find a way to keep the boosters happy, and pay some more athletes to come to Austin.
This is a joke. I’m tired of the hypocritital, self serving, self righteous rhetoric in the media.
For all of the revenue that these athletes like bush has generated for their prospective schools, they should be paid MORE.
The NCAA is a billion dollar business.
When a cap is put on how much a university can make in terms of TV revenue, merchandise, stadium ticket sales revenue, concession stands, advertising, and the list goes on, THEN lets talk about why an athlete should not be paid.

Great point Bucket. So the lesson I’ve learned is that if you can take a Heisman away from Reggie, then they shoulda took OJs away. It’s not right to take money ( which wasn’t that large an amount) but it’s ok to murder and commit armed robbery. Reggie earned that school 10 fold on what he recieved.

I hate how Vince Young fans act as if it were really that simple. Sure he had a game for the ages in the national championship game. If the voting for the Heisman were AFTER that game he might have won it outright. BUT it wasn’t and as much as everyone wants to point out that VY was second in voting, it should be remembered that at the time Texas were underdogs to what “some” were calling the greatest college team ever – USC. reggie was the vote b/c Leinart already had his. It was like ‘taking turns’. But if Reggie weren’t eligible Leinart would have gotten the votes that went to USC not VY. Everyone wants to re-write history but no one mentions the realistic chance that Leinart could have become the first repeat winner since Archie. We don’t know! That’s why it’ll never work to go back now and try a redo. Bush was excellent on the field, he won the Heisman. If we’re not going to go back and redo every vote (OJ Simpson anyone???) then it makes no sense to give VY a Heisman. if you strip Reggie, you leave the4 asterick and no one gets it. It’s absurd to go back and re-reward a trophy like that.

He should keep it. We can’t go back and rewrite history for the sake of some NCAA investigation. You could find violations on just about every NCAA championship team in football history. The NCAA is a joke!
Nobody was a better player when Reggie won it. He made USC a ton of money! Should the NCAA and USC give all ticket buyers,sponsors, advertisers, bush jersey buyers, etc their money back for watching a product that really didn’t happen or was illegal according to them now?
Keep the Heisman, Reggie. Vince didn’t win it and he should not want it. I am sure if we were to explore VY’s college closet, a few skeletons would fall out.

I dont really care, as i’m sure most people dont, what Reggie Bush did off the field. The bottom line is that he was the best player that season. If the voting was done after the bowl game, then maybe Vince Young takes the award. But Reggie deserved it for what he did on the field during the season. It’s funny how the NCAA can “erase” it from the record books and thinks everyone will just forget about it. Give me a break.

Wow dude, must be rough being you. Every day must either be the greatest day in the history of the universe or worse than 100 holocausts. Maybe it’s not too important, but considering that this is important to the people doing the deciding (hence their decision to be on the selection committee), they should do it because it’s important to them, even if it means nothing in the grand scheme of the world. Most things I do aren’t important to anyone but myself or a few people around me. It’s called life.
Wow, way to miss the point entirely. I was pointing out Florio’s idiocy and hypocrisy. On the one hand, this is a “meaningless award”. On the other he says its some kind of disgrace that these people aren’t rushing to Bush’s house to grab the Heisman away this instant, which would indicate that its super important. It can’t be both. Why they hell you’re giving me some incoherent half assed lecture about “life” is a mystery, especially since it has nothing to do with the question at hand.

I find it hilarious that the league is about to lower the suspension of a serial rapist by a few games and you don’t make a bigger deal out of that.

for the record, reggie bush was the best player in college that year… best player doesnt necessarily mean the best stats…. he was the most dynamic player and deserved the award… vy may have had a game for the ages but bush was among the players for the ages..

Vince Young put up his work in 3 qtrs of action most of the season.
And yes Reggie had a lot of sportscenter plays…
But everyone knows that Lendale White was the running gamefo USC. He ran for 25 td’s, and he was the back killing UT in the Championship game.
Whenever a USC player is in the heisman consideration, it will be hard to beat them out because they will get so many 1st place votes because of the large number ofex-trojans who have won the award that stick with their own. Matt Leinart even said that he voted for Bush.

I’d agree with stripping it if he used PED’s or if he used the trophy to crack someone skull open. I never thought much of te award to begin with though.
