A sex tape featuring Patriots rookie linebacker Brandon Spikes has been posted on the Internet, and the NFL says it is investigating.
“We are looking into it,” NFL spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed to Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com.
Making a sex tape could be considered “conduct detrimental to the integrity of and public confidence in the National Football League,” which the NFL’s personal conduct policy prohibits. But Spikes’ agent, Terry Watson, said the sex tape was made before Spikes was an NFL player.
“It was something that occurred before he became an NFL draftee and a New England Patriot. I think for anyone it would be an embarrassing situation,” Watson said. “Brandon has shown to many people the kind of person he is before and after being drafted in the second round. He’s hoping to put this behind him and looks forward to having a great football season.”
Spikes was an excellent linebacker at Florida, although he’s probably best known for an ugly incident last year when he gouged the eyes of Georgia’s Washaun Ealey. Spikes has started all three of the Patriots’ preseason games.
