We understand that Vikings quarterback Brett Favre wants us all to think that he’s dealing with the frailties of middle age in his 20th NFL season, which will make him a hero if he performs well this year, and heroic if his body finally betrays him after hundreds of consecutive starts.
But Favre’s repeated declarations regarding his overall condition will have an unintended consequence come September 9.
