Mike Shanahan’s quest to show Albert Haynesworth who’s boss has not ended yet.
While most Redskins starters sit out or barely play in Thursday’s preseason finale, Haynesworth will play and could see a big workload, according to Jason La Canfora of NFL Network.
Fair enough. The guy missed the whole offseason and has to catch up on work. Shanahan may not stop there, however.
La Canfora says the a member of Shanahan’s staff told him Haynesworth could be deactivated in Week One against the Cowboys. No matter what you think about Haynesworth, this is good news for Dallas.
We watched Haynesworth closely last week during an up-and-down performance. He struggled on some running plays, but he also ended one Jets drive by himself with two good plays in a row.
Sitting Haynesworth in Week One won’t help Shanahan’s chances of winning. And that’s why we don’t believe it will happen.

Shanahan will not succeed in Washington. That style of coaching does not work. Haynesworth is a Pro-Bowl DT and a game changer. This reminds me of when Rod Marinelli wanted to make an example by getting rid of Shaun Rogers and Dre Bly. The only two players to ever make the pro bowl for Detroit were shipped out. The result was 0-16. So while Shanahan continues to use this antiquated approach, it will only lead to his own firing.

Let’s see, Shanny is not stupid. Our Nose Tackle had a hard time against the run the last two preseason games…. Albert struggled against the run a bit, but was a force either way. He is still learning the defense, but has shown glimpses of what our D-Line could be this year if they all are on the same page. We have the best chance of winning when he is on the field and involved. Sit him week one against the Cowboys at their home, I truly do not think so. We have the best chance of winning when he is on the field. Shanny won’t be stupid and he will put the team in the best position to win the game. I can’t believe we are even on this subject.
