Willie Parker will get the start for the Redskins on Thursday

Despite being expected in some circles to be cut by Saturday at 6:00 p.m. ET, Redskins running back Willie Parker will get one more chance to get his team’s attention, or the attention of some other team.

We’re told that Parker will be starting Thursday night’s preseason game against the Cardinals.  He’s expected to play a quarter of the game.

Parker, as pointed out recently by Barry Svrluga of the Washington Post, has only nine carries for 15 yards in two preseason appearances.

It remains to be seen whether anyone else will be interested in Parker if/when he’s cut by the Redskins.  What he does on Thursday night will be a factor.

ie, his last chance to impress or he’ll get a one-way ticket to Cut City.

Are you sure you can trust Barry Svrluga of the Washington Post? My sources tell me that Parker had 10 carries for 20 yards…

I hear the Rams are looking for a back up

He’s done. The Skins will go with Portis, Johnson and a couple young bucks.

well i dont get it. he has shown NOTHING so far and larry johnson is just playing with the second stringers. not that i think LJ is a good back but doesnt he deserve a shot to play with the starters too?

If your nickname was “fast willie” and you’re not fast anymore…Houston we have a problem.

Fast Willie is now slower than a three toe slowed Willie. Portis, Johnson, and Torrain will be on the depth chart in that order.

    Run Willie Run

9 carries for 15 yards against the Ravens and Jets? That sounds about right…..for any RB in the NFL. You gotta throw to beat those defenses.

Glad he is getting this chance to show the coaches something. He started against the Jets and that is not really a chance to do anything bc Jets dont let ANYBODY run the ball. Willie isnt what he used to be but a hell of a third. I hope he gives himself a chance to make the team Thursday. I am saying L.J. is a lock bc he can still get those tough 2 or 3 yards . HAIL !!
Sweeping the NFC East this year!!

Your source here is “we’re told”. If Johnson/Torain/Williams start Thursday, will you you self-suspend for a month?

Willie come back to the Steelers. Willie was the unsung hero of super bowl XL

Ryan Torrain (from OLATHE, KS yeeaaaa booooyyy) is a beast and he should be ahead of Johnson on the depth chart.
Nobody will pick up Willie Parker or Derrick Ward they are both done unless mass injurys happen.

Its tough to base a runningback’s performance on a few carries a game. The Skins “O” line is not the best in the NFL, so more often than not the hole is not there, and a back has to create yards. Just ask Portis

fast willie + starting in the last pre-season game = cut (regardless of the outcome)

Portis looked good behind that line the other night. I was a huge FWP fan but he’s done and should come back to reality. He’s made enough $$, give it up and move on don’t be an Emmitt Smiff.

i read alot of these post and i just cant believe all of you guys are just writing willie off! i really dont understand what you guys look at. portis yards came against the BILLS! lj was running against the ravens, how good are their defense? willie ran against the JETS, how good are their defense. if i’m correct the jets and ravens defense were in the top 3 last year! one had the number 1 defense. i really dont understand how your evaluate these guys. i believe when a reporter write people jump on board. lol its crazy. guess roger godell gonna let big ben play after 4 games what do you’ll think? lol
