Jake Long gives the Dolphins a scare

We can hear the second guessing in Miami from here.

The Dolphins left their starters out well into the second quarter and things got ugly.  On one play, Chad Henne took a big blindside hit, and left tackle Jake Long was very slow to get up.  Long walked off the field without a big limp, but he had his left knee looked at on the sideline.  (Henne was fine.)

We’ll update you when we know more.  Knowing the Dolphins, we probably won’t know more until the team hits the practice field again.

Jake long is the most overrated player in the NFL.

  3. FlyingPelivs says: Sep 2, 2010 9:47 PM

    That’s too bad.
with them starting, the Pats have a much better chance of beating them because theres no way their backups are nearly as bad as their starters

“lieutenant Dan’s Ice Cream” – you are a moron

The “media darling” dolphins are toast this year.
..and that was before any potential Jake Long injury.
Face it, dolphin fans…you know your team really isn’t that good.

Wonderful. That is one truly irreplaceable player on this team

lieutenant Dan’s Ice Cream… Run along now and let the adults discuss football. You obviously have no idea what you’re talking about when it comes to line play

Marino13, I could not agree more. Aparently, that douch and Warren Sapp are the onlt two guys in the world who think that way… Long is a monster.
And Robert Mathis and Eli Manning are tied as the two most over-rated players in the NFL.

It should scare the Dolphins that their 1st team offense couldn’t get more than 3 points against the Cowboys backups.

It’s preseason folks. Who gives a rat’s ass?

  11. Pr1cetag says: Sep 2, 2010 10:43 PM

Nagurski, how the hell are the Dolphins the Media darling when everyone has the Jets and Pats picked to win the division and that’s all they can talk about is how Fat Rex has everyone convinced the Jets will win, and the Patriots will win every superbowl until Brady and Bellicheck leave?

It would be terrible to lose the 3rd best tackle in the league. I really hope he is ok, but this is a 9-7 team if they are lucky.

  13. LewD says: Sep 2, 2010 11:16 PM

Fins first team offense didn’t look like it could beat the ‘Boys second teamers … looks like it will be a long year …. Henne just doesn’t seem to have it together … yet …

  14. mwcarolina says: Sep 2, 2010 11:42 PM

Jake Long isnt overrated, he’s a good left tackle.

Sadly you dolphin morons laugh at Rex ryan but he isn’t stupid enough to risk his players in a meaningless game. Second quarter no less. Rex Ryan may have talked his way into a moron but sparano won king dumbass with this display.

lol at “lieutenant Dan’s Ice Cream” Jake Long is probably one of the best Left Tackles playing the game. Go watch some film and let us know when your ready to come back and make some intelligent statements. K?

Wow no Cowboys starters playing and it was McGee, the 3rd string QB the entire game.
Against the Phin’s starters for the whole first half?
I admit this was a surprise, I expected Dallas to ‘lose’ this ‘game’.
What happened to Long and Henne shows why you don’t play your starters in the last preseason game. This is Dallas’ 5th game after breaking camp twice, so their reluctance to play starters with all the injuries they’ve had is understandable.
Hope Long and Henne are OK and get back on the field for week 1.

  18. King10 says: Sep 3, 2010 1:34 AM

How many times was Henne hit on the blind side last year? Hell, how many times has Henne been hit on his blind side while playing with Jake Long (even through his Michigan years)? I gurantee you can count on one hand.

  19. phillyfinsfan says: Sep 3, 2010 6:04 AM

The Dolphins should be a good team this year, not great. They may have a shot at the playoffs but I’m not counting on it. I have concerns with their pass rush. Henne has no excuses this season. 9 -7.

  20. overkil2 says: Sep 3, 2010 8:45 AM

It was stupid to play your starters for more than 1 series.
I hope the team looks better against the Bills. Hopefully the D will bust out with their real schemes and cause havoc.

  21. FinFan68 says: Sep 3, 2010 10:14 AM

The Dolphins will be Ok and should compete for the AFCE title…but they have not executed well this preseason. Hope they can execute the real stuff/schemes better than the vanilla crap of the preseason. They need to tackle better regardless of scheme. The Bills are not quite as bad as advertised and missed tackles + CJ Spiller = long day. They need to get their collective shit together this week.

Players get hurt in non contact practice, playing in the last pre season game and worrying about getting hurt is a no different then getting hurt this Saturday at practice, perhaps they should never practice, just show up for the game and pray no one gets hurt, much BS about nothing, what if a player got hurt on the first play, sh#t happens, some players get hurt losing there 50k ear ring. Bill

“The “media darling” dolphins are toast this year. ”
They’re in in a division who has the worst starting QB in the league and without their best defensive player, and against a team that has NO secondary at all.
