Vikings to get "a full dose of Tebow"

Though a certain high-profile quarterback with a five-letter last name won’t be playing on Thursday night in Minnesota, another high-profile quarterback with a five-letter last name will be playing.  A lot.

Broncos tackle Ryan Harris says that the Vikings will be getting “a full dose of Tebow” in the preseason finale, according to Charley Walters of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Harris, who said that the rookie first-rounder will be playing “a lot,” gushed about his new teammate.

“He’s a gamer, man,” Harris said, per Walters.  “You can
see why he was successful in college.  And he’s a very good guy — what
you see is what you get.  He’s as true as you see on TV.  That’s how he is
every day.”

The game begins tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET.

All 32 teams will be playing in contests that kickoff as early as 6:30 p.m. ET and as late as 10:00 p.m. ET.  And while most starters won’t be playing at all, each team has to get down to 53 players by Saturday.  Most teams current have 75.  Thus, with nearly one of every three players on every team destined to be cut, the final preseason game is as important as the Super Bowl for plenty of guys.

Preseason week 4 there isn’t much to get excited about. But I’m looking forward to seeing this Tebow kid play against the Vikes touted second string D line. See what this young man is made of. Joe Webb hopefully will also get some action in there.

I’ve lived deep in the heart of the Tebow Experience since his days at Nease.
It’s not him at all, he’s a hell of a young man, great faith, passion all that stuff.
It’s the fandom, whether it’s the WalMart Gators who never even set foot in a classroom in Gainesville at either UF or Santa Fe CC, or the local media who fawns over his every move, still to this day. I mean in the Times Union here in Jax we still get preseason updates of his progress while they ignore the real local kid who’s gonna accomplish something, CJ Spiller. I asked the question why and was told that they did a Spiller article on page 7.

Which is about 2 years more than the back up Green Bay has right now and 3 years more than you. By the way, have you ever played an organized down of football? My guess is that you never have judging from most your comments. The only type of comments you have is degrading the Viking franchise and its fans. Maybe once in a while you should try having actual intelligent conversations about football. It may make your experience of blogging somewhat meaningful.

Say what you want about Saint Timmy, and if he succeds at one of the toughest positions in sports, is still up for debate, but right now, even without playing a single regular season game, he is making the NFL money, and that’s what it’s all about. The NFL will bleed this dry….

  24. Rick says: Sep 2, 2010 10:31 AM

If Tebow never told the media he is a Chriostian do you think there would be as much animosity towards him? The guy was a great college QB and you never read about him getting in trouble off the field. I hope he has a HOF career.

  25. Wrathchild says: Sep 2, 2010 10:46 AM

  30. sand0 says: Sep 2, 2010 11:02 AM

I’m neither a Tebow fan nor a Tebow hater. He isn’t a bad person so there isn’t really any reason to hate on him. He’s excited about religion which is a little different but not particularly remarkable in my books.
What does bother me though is how all the haters have this belief that all the hype is pure religious fervor. He was one of the best college quarterbacks of all time and played for one of the most popular schools in the nation while winning two national championships, and playing great in both. He’s a unique QB in that at the college level he was also a power short yardage runner. Kind of different and part of the zest.
Sure it is debatable whether he will succeed in the NFL. We’ll have to wait and see. He seems like a long term project due to his throwing style and the power aspect of his game will not translate to the NFL other than QB sneaks.
Still not that damn much to hate on though. Like Favre most of the hate comes from people auto-hating a popular figure that gets too much attention.

From watching the Viking preseason games this year their backup DL can start for a lot of teams. They simply outmatch 2nd and 3rd stringers.
Tebow is a very interesting prospect. I am real interested in seeing how he does. I personally think he will be a decent NFL QB. Maybe not this year. He still needs to get used to the speed and nuances of the game. However, Tebow is very athletic with a strong arm and a strong heart. I wish him well just not against the Vikes.

So let me get this straight… if you did not attend a Div.1 football school for college, you cannot cheer for or be a fan of any Div.1 school? Really? Says who? I am a Gator fan, never went to school there (I partied there a few times though, lol), and I am a Floridian of 33 years, born & raised (which is rare down here). In fact, I’d say that gives me a stronger connection to the team than any kid from another state coming down here for 4 years of schooling and then leaving again. Besides, something tells me UF wants as many fans as it can get buying tickets, merchandise, etc., no? Bet you didn’t know that “The Swamp” (Ben Hill Griffin Stadium), was originally named after the man, a non-UF grad, who donated the funds to build it! Yep, I’d say there is plenty of love for us “Walmart Gators” from the folks in Gainsville! Go Gators!!!

  40. sullijo says: Sep 2, 2010 11:32 AM

This is not saying much, but he’s definitely better than Brady Quinn. If you watch the preseason games, it looks like Quinn is the Rookie.
The biggest flaw I see is that his 3, 5, and especially 7 step drop backs are slow, but I’ll give the guy a shot in a couple years.

If by “full dose” he means say, double that 5-for-10, 72 yard masterpiece he put up last week, then the Vikings must be positively SHAKING in their cleats. Oh and I suppose that means double the interceptions that get run back for TDs, like last week (OK the oaf stepped out of bounds at the 1, whatever.)
Yawn. Wake me when the Tebow hype show is over.

I am a Broncofan and I know he’s the future of the organization or at least for the foreseable future and yes he has played well during those times he got to play. I’m think he’s going to go 10-18 for 135 yars and 2 td’s but 1 pick and no it’s not for 6. By the way Frank Bollo, that oof stepped out at the 5 not the one and you forgot his touchdown and the fact the in three series he lead his team to two scores… Not bad against 1st and 2ns stringers.

You really want to talk intelligence at the same time you say CryQueen and T Jack Off? It must have taken a massive amount of intelligence to come up with those marvelous zingers….. Tell you what. When that fabulous 7th round pick you have backing up MR. Rodgers actually gets in a meaningful game, then we’ll talk about real QBs. And until someone proves it wrong, why would we not believe that the team that came within a dumb mistake by a Packer from being replaced in the PB won’t have a chance again this year? But continue your delusions….
