49ers get to 53 a day early

Over at Rotoworld, Evan Silva prays for as many Friday cuts as possible so that the avalanche of news on Saturday is somewhat lessened.

The 49ers are Silva’s favorite team for a day because they decided to get down to the 53-man roster limit a day before the rest of the league.

We mentioned three notable cuts earlier. Here’s the rest of the list: LB Matt Wilhelm, K Shane Andrus, LB Mike Balogun, G Brian De La Puente, OT Matt Kopa, and DE Derek Walker, QB Jarrett Brown, DT Will Tukuafu, WR Kevin Jurovich, LB Keaton Kristick, S Chris Maragos, and WR Bobby Guillory, C Cody Wallace, DL Khalif Mitchell, TE Tony Curtis, TE Joe Jon Finley, FB Jehuu Caulcrick, and LB Bruce Davis.

Wallace was a fourth-round pick in 2008, but never made an impact. Wilhelm probably just missed making the team.

Nate Davis made the team as the third quarterback, which is sure to make Jason Whitlock happy.
