David Thornton heads to reserve/PUP

As the Titans prepare to make their final roster moves in advance of the 2010 season, a veteran linebacker will find himself unavailable for the first six games, at least.

Per Terry McCormick of TitanInsider.com and Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean, David Thornton has been placed on the reserve/PUP list with a lingering hip injury.

“David Thornton has worked very, very hard to get to this point,” Fisher said, per Wyatt. “I think he has done an extraordinary job to get to this point. However, he is still not ready to play. He will benefit from the time. . . . It is hard to evaluate him at this point because he can’t participate in practice and can’t be involved in contact.”

In the offseason, Thornton underwent surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle, as long as surgery on his hip.
