Derrick Ward begins his unexpected free-agency tour

Cut earlier this week by the Bucs only a year after signing with them, running back Derrick Ward will commence his search for a new team.

And while some Giants fans are hoping that he’ll return to Big Blue, the process begins with Ward visiting the Houston Texans.

A league source tells us that Ward will go to Houston today, and that he possibly could visit the Seahawks.

Ward would diversify a Texans’ backfield that lost rookie running back Ben Tate for the season.  If he signs there, he’d likely share touches with Arian Foster and Steve Slaton.

It’s unclear how Ward would fit in Seattle, and it’s possible that someone currently occupying a spot on the depth chart that he assumed would be safe could be jettisoned.

    “And if the Rams aren’t interested, we doubt anyone will be watching Ward in an NFL uniform this year.”
    This was Mr. Rosenthal’s quote from his post about the Rams’ lack of interest in Ward. I will be posting this on every Ward thread up until he is inevitably signed.
    Seriously, is there any oversight at all from NBCsports or anyone else on this guy? He constantly stuffs his asinine, completely uninformed opinions into his posts. I would be very embarrassed if he was working for me.

    Can the redskins cut willie parker and larry johnson and sign Ward? i mean seriously…portis, ward, and williams/torrain wont really scare anyone but at least it wont invoke laughter like the portis, johnson, parker trio does

    Who the hell wants him back with the Giants? I guess he would make a good 3rd RB, because thats the only spot close to being open. He aint replacing Jacobs or Bradshaw.

    Dude, this is a blog; not a hard news site. The whole purpose is to collate various “reports” and rumours and then add an editorial or opinion. The only thing they should be embarrassed about is the lack of proofreading.

    @FinFan
    I don’t mind the occasional editorial comment. But he constantly throws in completely baseless, uninformed, usually flat out wrong opinions. Takes down the credibility of the whole site. At least interject opinions that have SOME type of basis. Just because you can say whatever you want doesn’t mean you should.
    This particular assumption – that the Rams don’t want Ward so no one else will – is ridiculous.

    Umm, anyone who remembers Earth, Wind and Fire. When Ward, Jacobs and Bradshaw were all together our running game was unstoppable.
