Two years after signing Jacques Reeves to a head-scratching deal in free agency, the Texans released the former Dallas Cowboys cornerback on Friday.
Texans coach Gary Kubiak confirmed that news at his press conference on Friday. He also indicated that wide receiver Andre Davis was headed to injured reserve, and that quarterback John David Booty will be released.
Dan Orlovsky won the backup quarterback job despite a disastrous fourth preseason game that some folks in Houston calling for his head. Kubiak only has two quarterbacks on the roster, but could add one to the practice squad. We believe Booty still has eligibility.
How dumb were they for signing ANYONE from Dallas’ secondary to a big contract?
Carrying 2 QB’s on the roster with 1 on the practice squad seems to make the most sense. I don’t understand why all teams don’t do this to free up an extra roster spot.
Jacques and Andre will tour the wine country around Bordeaux in a rented Peugeot, and smoke cigarettes at a table in front of the patesserie, as they consider their future. Gesticulating emphatically with their hands as they speak.
“Two years after signing Jacques Reeves to a head-scratching deal in free agency…”
It’s too bad these people with real NFL-type experience don’t consult with places like Rotoworld and PFT. It’s just so simple I cannot believe that anyone could blow it.
Texans are waiting for Sage Rosenfels to be released. If they don’t get him, Booty will be back on the roster as QB3.

Proofread JA.
Can’t understand why Booty didn’t win the backup position. No sense in rewarding a player
that does well. More important to CYA for giving
a crappy player a 3 yr 9 mil deal. Just another
reason for players to not place importance with
being in training camp.
