Packers parting ways with Spencer Havner

Spencer Havner is on the way out in Green Bay.

Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that the Packers are going to cut Havner, a tight end who’s been with Green Bay since 2006, if they can’t find a trading partner for him.

It seems unlikely that any team will offer anything for Havner if he’s about to be available for nothing, and so it appears that Havner will get cut today.

This is exactly the kind of guy the Belichek tree loves. Look for him to land in New England, Kansas City, or Cleveland.

Bummer, I liked that kid. But we have a ton of LBs and TEs that are all good. Just no room for him on the rosters. He’ll get picked up.

They should cut Jermichael Finley too.

Havner did a lot more than just catch touchdowns. I guess his greatest failing was not being a high draft choice. I’d keep Toribo before Harrell, but it’s the same story there. A team could still want to trade for Havner if they think another team will grab him before they can.

Did not see that coming. All Havner does is make plays. I thought after the DUI he’d be gone, but since he made it this far I thought he’d be safe. Crabtree is the one I would have cut.

Miami might take a look at him. They just released David Martin.

He’s going to have a lot of offers, but I’m disappointed he won’t be in Green Bay. He was always exciting to watch. Don’t understand why they would release the info that they plan to cut him UNLESS they get a good trading partner. Now why would anyone pursue the trade route?

Well it was either him or kuhn, but since John can play fb/hb and help us in the run game, then idk…but Havner will find a place on another roster in the nfl, he’s a good linebacker/tightend combo.

Well…..I guess it helps to know that he will end up somewhere. He was a good one…very likable, effective, and a hard worker. Damn…that’s too bad. I hope he doesn’t end up in Minnesota.
