Vikings trimming the fat from roster

Tom Pelissero of 1500 ESPN Twin Cities is keeping a running tally of reports on the Vikings’ roster cuts.  We’re keeping track with him.

Minnesota cleared two roster spots Friday night by trading quarterback Sage Rosenfels and running back/punt returner Darius Reynaud to the Giants.
On Saturday, the team waived defensive back DeAngelo Wright, fullback Ryan D’Imperio, running back Ian Johnson, receiver Freddie Brown, defensive tackle Tramaine Johnson, and cornerback Marcus Sherels.  (Mike Florio separately confirmed the Ian Johnson move.)
According to FOX Sports’ Adam Caplan, tight end Garrett Mills has also been waived by the Vikings.

  1. I wish they would cut Tahi and keep D’Imperio. U guess they are planning on putting him on the practice squad

  2. “Vikings trimming the fat from roster”
Does that include Favre’s ego? That alone would make room for 3-4 players.

  3. Its ridiculous how Florio or the other minions on the PFT staff do not place blogs in order they are posted. It is almost like they are ashamed and attempt to bury them so people don’t see them……
Whatever the reason it is, it needs to stop. Once again Florio, adjust your toupee….your stupidity is showing!

  4. Cutting Sherels and Wright is concerning to me… I guess the dime back will be a safety for the first few games. I was hoping they would keep Sherels until Cook was healthy again.
