Hey again JohnnyC, at least I give you credit for addressing the bad calls. However you're clearly wrong on some things. On the 4th & 1 fumble, the ball was clearly dislodged from the ball carriers arm. When you say it "ran down his leg" and was not a fumble, I don't know what you mean by that. Forward progress should NOT have been given (and even then it was a favorable spot). And as for the pass interference on Leber, you say he stepped on the receiver's foot. No, clearly he didn't. The receiver spun around at the last second and fell completely on his own. Leber's foot touched his foot after he was already flat on the ground. And as for Meachem's 'catch', your theory about it's ok to trap the ball is only true if you have possession. CLEARLY he was bobbling it all the way. You can youtube all those and clearly see what I mean.
-----------------------------------------------------------
No YOU need to youtube those plays. The head of officiating has already explained that Pierre's first down was given forward progress because he never completely lost control of the ball. It's in the rule book.
And YES Dave Thomas DID get his foot stepped on, go back and look at it.
It doesn't matter anyway because the Saints soundly beat the Vikings again last night like anyone who is not a Vikings fan knew they would. You guys are in for a long season and I won't be surprised if Favre quits midseason.

Probably not the smartest choice of words, but people need to grow a set too. Stop getting offended everytime someone says something controversial. I live in NYC, and you absolutely CAN compare 9/11 to Katrina simply because both caused the suffering and death of alot of good people. Our country hurt during both. That being said, I wouldnt get offended at a 9/11 reference. Im sure Hampton wasnt sitting in front of his TV making fun of the devastation while Katrina raged on.
Life is cruel sometimes. There are much more serious things to get offended by. It seems anytime anyone says anything thats not a total ass kissing statement, someone or some group will get offended. Between irrelevent people like Tony Dungy getting offended at Rex ryan cursing, South Park cartoons being edited to not offend a certain religion, and racial trouble makers looking to stir the pot over everything, we are becoming increasingly soft. Toughen up people, and laugh at the stupidity instead of crying foul everytime someone says something you dont like. We do have Freedom of Speech last time i checked.

Watching Dan Hampton play for his entire career and being an avid football fan I want to say Dan was never even close to being an overrated player. I didn't want to join this to comment but the stupidity of some of you people on here boggles my mind. To compare Katrina to 9/11 and the Minnesota bridge collapse is just absolutly absurd. 9/11 was an act of TERROR, it was not a natural disaster, rather, somebody wanted to inflict pain on thousands and thousands of people and to completely crush the American economy..sure have done a great job haven't they? It was a planned effort that probably took years in advance to plan out. The Minnesota Bridge collapse was Human Error. The bridge was very poorly built and it fell because of a poor design. If you dont believe me, read this article http://n ewsbusters.org/blogs /ken-shepherd/2008/0 1/15/minnesota-bridg e-collapsed-due-lbj- era-design-flaw. The bridge was never built to withstand the kind of traffic that it got on a day to day basis. It was HUMAN ERROR, it was something that could have been fixed, but was chosen not to be. In the case of Katrina, it was an Act of God, A Natural Disaster, not to mention that people did have warning 8 days in advance that it was coming..but I am not here to rag on the city of New Orleans or the People that were there because I personally have never been to New Orleans and likely never will. I understand that people couldn't get out in time. I feel for them and I pray for there losses. Think of it this way, you can prepare yourself, move to higher ground, get food, etc for a hurricane and you most likely know when its going to hit the day its going to hit. How about waking up in the morning to a beautiful looking day and saying goodbye to your wife and kids to go to work only to get struck by an airplane. Nobody had any idea that was coming, nobody had any idea a bridge was going to collapse. I am willing to bet that if Pearl Harbor were to be attacked today there would be idiots in this country that protested war on Japan.
With all that being said, football has become more than a sport in American, theres no denying that and over the years there have been a lot of comparisions, my favorite that my high school coach used to say was its going to be a war out there, a knife fight, and real f**ked up bloody event..coaches all over the country and in every level say things such as that. Is that a bad thing? I don't know maybe, as a teenager growing up during the time of the Vietnam War I was fortunate enough to be one of the few who wasn't in the armed forces during that time. Regardless, Dan Hampton probably should not have said that, but he did and he meant nothing by it. Move on with your life instead of worrying about how people would react if someone mentioned 9/11. It makes me sick to even think those two things can be compared. Whats next? The collumbine high school shooting being compared to the great United States heat wave (which i am sure most are too young to even have ever heard of that) that killed in excess of 1,700 people over the course of just a few months or better yet the Oklahoma City bombing being compared to the San Francisco earthquake. It is all essentially the same damn thing.

It's a really bad analogy but not for the PC reason so many seem to have their panties in a wad over.
When Hurricane Katrina made landfall in Mississippi it seemed that Louisiana and New Orleans in particular were spared the brunt of it. Two days afterwards, when the huge ocean swells finally overwhelmed the city's defenses against the sea, flooding began.
New Orleans was barely affected by Hurricane Katrina's wind or rain. It was wrecked because they were unprepared for the ocean swells that come after the hurricane passed by.
So saying that a team should hit New Orleans like Katrina means that they should come and go and do little apparent damage until two days afterwards.

Yeah, calling others stupid is something you should avoid. Katrina was human error. The hurricane was an act of god, the poorly built levees were not. You want to know the difference between someone who died during 9/11 and someone who died during Katrina? Nothing. They are both dead. Their families both miss them. To undermine one disaster while justifying a low brow comment towards another, just shows your blatant stupidity and refusal to either quash a bias or use logic.
The point you are missing isn't the fact that the two disasters are different, it is that the grief felt by the victims is the same. If your family was killed in the Chicago fire, would you want someone saying "The Vikings need to burn the Bears secondary like the great Chicago Fire?" Probably not. I know it's the internet and you can just say "ha! Wouldn't bug me in the least," but you have to try and put your self on the other side of the situation before you can fully grasp and decide whether some one should be offended or not.
Your last comment demonstrates a clear decision not to do that, but to instead try to explain why one disaster is far worse than another. Your post proved nothing other than your immaturity and stupidity.

Even if they could afford public transit out of the city, my main point was some people had NOWHERE to go. What's the point of taking a bus out of town if you don't have anywhere to stay once you're somewhere else, and can't afford to stay somewhere else?
Anyone saying you would have WALKED out of the city, I would really like to see that. Easy to say that when the situation is not facing you.

If you dont believe me, read this article http://newsbusters.org/blogs/ken-shepherd/2008/01/15/minnesota-bridge-collapsed-due-lbj-era-design-flaw.

From a Saints fan, could care less what some idiot former Bears player says about our city or our team. He can say as he pleases and deal with the consequences he is going to (probably going to get fired because everyone is so PC right now).
And I would like to thank PFT for once again bringing up Katrina. Just let is go. I am so tired of getting on here daily to listen to Viqueen fans sit around and complain because their mommy forgot to change their rubber sheets last night. here it what is for you bunch of douchebags: you lost, the NFL did not orchistate us winning (Farve-Manning Superbowl was the NFL's wet dream and anyone who disagrees with that has no idea about business), you had a few bad calls as the saints did, you turned the ball over way too many times to win. Deal with it like men rather than the bunch of pillow biters that you all are. Games are won by who has the most points, not who has the most yards.
I can't wait for this game to get here. Going to be a blast.

Interesting thoughts on Katrina. I must say that I don't generally hear New Orleans people constantly asking for things and "whining" over Katrina. I don't recall the Saints "riding Katrina for 4.5 years" and I certainly don't understand the thought of the NFL conspiracy being enacted 5 years later when they had a prime opportunity 1 year later in the 2006 NFC Championship Game (kind of like the Patriots going right after 9/11 - I'll save that for another day).
The issue simply put is that Katrina didn't destroy the City - The Failed Levee's did. This was not a natural disaster - it was shoddy work done by the Army Corps of Engineers that eventually led to this problem. So let's see, the Country that you pay your taxes to is the same Country that Gulf Coast Residents pay their taxes to. The ignoramus' otherwise known as New Orleanians are the same people who account for 40% of the Seafood in this country. The dummies on the Gulf coast are the same people who impact the National Economy in energy, agriculture, and tourism.
So yes a region that depended on its government to protect it is upset. A region that watched Canadian soldiers and private citizens get to New Orleans to help before its own government is mad. And a community who had loved one's who were too poor or unable to leave the city but had to stand in sweltering heat for 5 days and fend for themselves while the Bush congratulates "Brown" on doing a good job - only to find out later that Rumsfeld wouldn't send Brown what he needed his hot (pun). Or maybe the fact that Mississippi (Republican Governor) shared equally in government assistance when only 25% of the damage was in Mississippi outrages some people. Maybe even when you talk to some law enforcement workers who stayed during the storm and they tell you that there wasn't rampant shooting at helicopters and the ISSUE they were aware of were people trying to get attention as the helicopters flew pass the impoverished areas of the city. And lastly people get a little ticked when the media influenced the disposition of the Armed Services - showing up with guns drawn as a result of the sensationalized versions of stories – as confirmed by the well decorated Lt. General Honore. Who had to instruct them to “stand down.”
So I get it PFT bloggers, all New Orleanians should get over this - easier said then done especially when some of you can't get over a football game that you lost 7 months ago let alone your elderly relatives dehydrating and dying while our administration debated.

Get off your high horse TishMitch. New Orleans isn't the only place in the continental US, let alone the world to experience trauma or disaster. Flooding in Cedar Rapids, IA...35W Bridge Collapse in Minneapolis...9/11 in New York...Earthquakes in LA and San Fran...daily genocide in Africa, the list goes on.
Here's your problem, you assume that nobody gives a sh*t about New Orleans, which is obviously not the case. I don't wish harm, let alone natural disaster on anybody. But what's NOT okay is the continued bitching and whining from hypocrites who want the government to magically save them from something they easily could have taken personal responsibility for. Maybe George Bush should have rode a unicorn down, swooped in and saved all the people who were unable (too stupid) to figure out they should have left days ago. Hell, I was advised, readied, and prepared to leave New Orleans by the news media, and I don't even live there.
So yes, I do feel sorry for New Orleans. It's a great city that not only had to endure a horrific natural disaster, but also has to constantly deal with the ignorance, stupidity, degradation, and destructive nature of its own citizens who treat it like a garbage dump.

So yes, I do feel sorry for New Orleans. It’s a great city that not only had to endure a horrific natural disaster, but also has to constantly deal with the ignorance, stupidity, degradation, and destructive nature of its own citizens who treat it like a garbage dump.

As a person who actually experienced Katrina firsthand, and still lives outside of N.O., let me say...Dan Hampton's comment is awesome.
Did you know that bodies are STLL being discovered five years later? Bet you didn't. Some things are okay to joke about. A little overweight? Balding? Bad dresser? Big deal. The biggest catastrophe this country has ever seen? Not so much. A lot of the people that died during Katrina were children.
Bet you didn't know that either.
Some say, "Jeez it's been five years. Get over it." Until you have been through what we've been through, you CAN'T get over it. I am a very sane person and it's only been recently that the catastrophe hasn't been on my mind EVERY FRICKIN (thought you know what I want to say) DAY. We are wearing that physical and emotional battle like war veterans around here. It was tramatic.
Oh, and B...T...W..
Just because it's not on the news anymore doesn't mean that it's ok to make light of what happened down here.
As for Dan What's His Name, I'm really not that mad...a whole freakin government let us down, so what comes out of a sports commentator's mouth kind of pales in comparison, yanno?
I don't know what it's going to take for the people of this city to start getting a little respect. Winning a Superbowl sure didn't do the trick.
I just think that if Louisiana were, say, New York, a comment like that wouldn't have even been thought of, much less said aloud on national TV.
But who am I?

I'm with jkmathison on this one.
Insensitive comment by Hampton, sure. But grow up people.
Everyone knew Katrina was gonna hit N.O. and hit it HARD for (at minimum) 4 days, if not 7 or 8.
So anyone that didn't leave (lest they be holed up in a hospital) really has no excuse. Hell, you can walk quite a ways in 4 days if you want, so don't give me "the people didn't have cars" nonsense either, plus, we ALL saw the pictures of the 500 buses sitting in 6 feet of water the next day, unused. Thanks Mayor Nagin !!!!!!!
Plus, President Bush and the Gov't allocated $170,000 PER PERSON to the city of New Orleans afterwards, so why don't the whiny ass liberals of the world tell us how and to whom that $85 BILLION was distributed ??? Hmmm.
How many of those "trapped" (i.e. decided to stay) had $170,000.00 to their name, much less $170 K per person in their household ??? My guess is way, way, waaayyyyy less than 1 % of them. So, my question is where did that $85 BILLION go ????
Nope, no one wants to ask the REAL questions here. Only point fingers, and get a hard-on if someone says something someone else doesn't like.
