Marvin Lewis: T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Bengals not a good fit

A day after he was released by the Seahawks, T.J. Houshmandzadeh is looking for a new team. His old coach in Cincinnati, Marvin Lewis, says that new team won’t be the Bengals.

Noting that he’s satisfied with Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens as his starting receivers, Lewis said he doesn’t see where there’s room for Houshmandzadeh on the roster.

“If our team were constituted differently this would be a great spot for him to be back at,” Lewis said, per Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer. “But right now where we are I don’t know if it would be good for him.”

Lewis says he feels badly for Houshmandzadeh and wants to see him catch on somewhere. Just not in Cincinnati.

“It’s unfortunate that T.J. got released. He’s going to get another opportunity. He’ll make the most of that opportunity and I’ll be happy for him,” Lewis said. “I had people call and contact me as far as T.J. and I gave him a true, honest appraisal and a very honest one. T.J. helped us get where we are today. He’s a good, young pro and a good man and he did a lot of good leading in this building.”
