Rams deny interest in Vincent Jackson

We passed along an item from Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post Dispatch yesterday saying that two unnamed sources thought the Rams could be interested in Chargers restricted free agent wide receiver Vincent Jackson.

But Thomas has since updated that item, and he now writes that team sources say the Rams apparently have decided against it.

Ans so the Rams appear ready to give their new starting quarterback, Sam Bradford, a receiving corps that consists of Danny Amendola, Keenan Burton, Dominique Curry, Brandon Gibson, Mardy Gilyard and Laurent Robinson.

And if the Chargers want to trade Jackson, they’re going to have to look elsewhere.

AJ’s strategy of letting VJ learn his market value is working in AJ’s favor. Once VJ and his delusional agent finally come to realize his market value is substantially less than they thought they will happily accept the Bolts offer. Nice work AJ

As a Rams fan, I would rather go into the season with an unproven receiving corps than risk giving up too much for a player like Jackson that may be little more than the product of a spectacular QB in Philip Rivers. Kudos to Devaney and the rest of the organization for standing firm and supporting the young players.

    BoltDaddy, well said.
    VJ needs to:
    (1) Sign contract
    (2) Play
    (3) Stay Sober
    (4) Stay Out of Jail
By living up to his obligations he’ll get a longterm contract from SD. If not SD then he’ll prove that he’s worthy of the big money by being responsible on and off the field.

No, they won’t be happy to accept the offer. If you remember, VJ’s tender was reduced from over three million to around six hundred-thousand.

First off no one would ask you to play for SD. Secondly, AJ did the right thing when it came to dealing with VJ. No team in its right mind is going to pay a player huge guaranteed money to a player who may have off the field issues.
If you are going to call anyone names, be an adult and explain what your problem is with the individual. Otherwise, you sound like some little dweeb living in his momma’s basement spouting off with no facts on your side.

IMO, the bridges have been burned. There is no way that the Chargers will ever sign VJ long term.

BoltDaddy, like most Chjarger fairweather fans, you are clueless. AJ has made it impossible for VJ to ever play for the Chargers again. Oh he might show up in week 10 to get credit for the year of service, but he will be a non-factor in 2010. VJ’s biggest hurdle will be if AJ caves and offers VJ the contract he has always wanted. That will be a problem because VJ doesn’t ever want to play for that jerk again.
